whether this guy is lying or not..... there ARE people level 80. Kinda sad.
What is more sad? Some of the level 80's were exploiters. They ended up getting sent back to level 1, and some of them are level 80 again and without exploits this time.
first off let me say GET A LIFE. Good lord dude it came out a week ago you must of played 8 hours a day. maybe your problem is that you were so into the game that you already did everything and now your bored. its your own fault.
8 hours a day is just the "warming up" phase that the majority of these kinds of players practice. More like 16 hours a day.
So many retirees, gamers in wheelchairs, housewives...that play MMO's. Nothing against them just saying that you should open your eyes to the truth. There are a great many MMO gamers out there that 8 hours a day would be...thought of as a very casual day for them.
I mean, I don't want to the be one to break this to you and all but, if you want to be in the ballpark with an accurate estimate of how much time many of these no-lifers spend playing their games, it's more accurate to say 12 to 16 hours a day. For years. The ridiculous grinds that these games create for people to occupy their time playing in between content updates are chewed up and spit out in no time flat by some of these guys. There's more of them than you would think, let's just put it that way. I've encountered them everywhere, it surprised me at first, but just trying to tell you that the no-life crew would scoff at 8 hours a day being some kind of feat. To them it would be a day where they had to wheel themselves down to the clinic for their monthly meds and had to take some time off from their game, not being a productive day at all in game.
In closing, so many people posting in this thread didn't even bother reading the OP wth is that about? Too busy to read but not too busy to reply? One or the other folks. And to the OP himself, it's obvious to me at least that your post was either cut and paste or posted from some other site or forum, and until you prove yourself, your words are meaningless. It would take a short amount of time for you to follow up your post with some evidence, until then, don't expect people to believe you or care what you type.
i don't understand.... he did say he enjoyed it and will return after the bugs are fixed, he mentioned some flaws/bugs in game (whether he reported them or not who knows) so how is he trolling? unless my definition of a troll is different
Well it's kinda like this. There are a great many of us who play the game without cheating. We understand that there are bugs since it has only been out a week and are too wrapped up in what we can do the right way to worry about most of the bugs that we know will get fixed.
Here is the kicker; he cheated to lvl 80 now he is bored and instead of waiting for Funcom to address the problems, he comes here to point out to everyone the game is broken. Therefore raking a pretty good game through the mud to potential players.
Had he leveled the right way, he wouldn't be bored and wouldn't feel the need to come here to announce to the community that he is quiting due to exploiting/bugs that allowed him to get where he is today. In essence he trolled the game
OP.. Good post.. You should have said you would never put it down and there are no bugs. Since you didnt, you see what kind of replies you got..
Yes I do, I now see why my leveling partner who was a Beta player said don't bother with mmorpgI did cause I can't see the main forums but I guess this was a bad idea now I'm sorry I did. Will delete the topic if I can find out how. This forum's posters now terrifies me.
Anyways they fixed the power leveling of the apprentice system apparently, hopefully the other lvling issues reported was fixed too.
Games down though, sad. It is a really FUN GAME despite the bugs though, that should tell you people something. Any other game I wouldn't of bothered finishing. I love the game and I think, other MMO's should work on making combat this fun.
max levels already. WTF happened to mmo's since EQ. Max level should take at least 6 months. Damn dumbing down of gaming. Back in the good old days (yes, they was much better days), people could respect seeing a lvl 50 in EQ even after 9 months or a year. I have zero respect for anyone anymore.
80 already, sheess, says enough about the game for me. Im out.
Quote "There are also a few bugged quests which are repeatable that give 40k xp. Abusing these methods, it took us only 4 days to get someone from 1-> 80, and we really didn't even try to do it."
Considering he used the word "us" and "we" - I'm assuming he exploited the quests for his toons as well.
Well from what he descrive I can easily see 2 level 80 in a week. Weren't character level transfering upon beta after all? Plus if the apprenticeship system is really badly implemented as he say, that wouldn't make it hard to level the second character to 80 particularly with the AoE in endless spawning zone and quest giving 40k xp that you can repeat indefinitly. After all once you know it, a quest that first take 30 min to complete will take 10 after a while.
no, we had to start over. And even knowing where to go, what to do, etc to level quickly, I still don't see how it's pissible to get two toons to 80 in a week without exploits.
Totally possible, the apprenticeship system more so than the repeatable quest bug. I won't explain how the broken mechanics works (reported the exploit and didn't repeat it). But you end up being able to tank a whole village of Elites 3-4 levels higher than you ... solo.
I was going to write a long review of my experiences upto lvl 43 but I gotta say this post pretty much hits it on the head. Bugs are gonna kill this game esp as you level up it gets worse and worse.
Beyond the bugs there are many basic problems I'm seeing with the game. Super poor itemization, broken mob AI if you want to call it AI at all, harvesting/crafting is a bad joke, many broken quests, and generally increasingly unfinished feel to higher lvl areas.
It's like this game is really about 1-20 past lvl 20 things start to errode quickly. It's pretty obvious why open beta was capped at lvl 20.
The combat system at 40 is also starting to suck more, now that I have 5 attack keys for combos and most of my abilities are 3 combo keys long and add to this that the keystrokes lag so I have to watch the UI to tell if I can hit the next key or it will drop a key and not work, well it's just starting to suck....
My initial review of this game up through the mid 20s was like a 9 with pretty raive reviews. Now at lvl 42 my review is like a 6 and it's only that high cause I really like the graphics... I'm struggling with if I want to keep playing or go back to eq2. They really need to come out with some good patchs soon. Even Vanguard is looking really good to me right now.
Sober, we've already discussed the OP and his believability, about a page back or so.
You talked about "no-lifers" and you hinted at something that seems quite accurate, people that play 12-16 hours a day make it really hard for developers to make a game that accomodates their time comittment while not making it absurd for casual players to get anything done. The conclusion that I would come to is that people who play for more than 12 hours a day shouldn't be littering forums with complaints about the game being too easy or short. That complaint would be *especially* annoying coming from someone who exploited to get where they were even faster....
By the way, they fixed Fields of Dead this morning, last night it was unplayable and I usually crash just entering it.. today, flawless. Bugs wont kill this game, bugs get fixed and quite fast it seems.
Yes, there really are a number of level 80’s in AoC now. I think this thread from 5/22 might be the first mention of an actual level 80.
Unfortunately, there are broken mechanics in the game (some have been fixed now) that allowed players to kill much faster than they should. Demonologist, Tempest of Set and Priest of Mitra all had ridiculous DPS at one point. The PoM has been nerfed. The Tempest apparently still has broken skills. Read on for information about the Demonologist.
The first 80 on Cimmeria server was a Demonologist who used a broken mechanic in the game to bug his damage where he was doing instant kills to any monster that hit him. Look at this post from the official forums where someone reported the exploit to the GM’s. He backs it up with a screenshot, a movie and quotes from developers. From looking at the movie, it appears to be made by this Demonologist and says he leveled from 50 to 80 in 24 hours. Here is the player himself talking about his level 80. He exploited to point out that this exploit exists, so it would get fixed sooner. He said he already emailed GM’s with all the details about this bug and other bugs he discovered.
He took 4 days, 12 hours ingame to reach level 80. He says that he thinks he can do 4 day, 3 hours ingame without using any exploits.
There are definitely people in the 70’s who aren’t Demonologists, ToS or PoM’s. There probably are level 80’s who didn’t use exploits or broken mechanics, but their accomplishments are being overshadowed. It has been over a week of live gameplay for early access players. That is plenty of time for the truly hardcore to quest and grind their way to level 80. I hope they think it was worth the effort because they rushed through all the content that Funcom spent 5 years to build.
OP.. Good post.. You should have said you would never put it down and there are no bugs. Since you didnt, you see what kind of replies you got..

Anyone know how to delete? I'm looking all over.
Why dont you just post a screenshot of your lvl 80 char, we are all interested to see how certain classes look like in that higher lvl range.
I can't believe anyone actually thinks this game is good. Not to mention in 7 months there will be XBOX players logging in to ruin the game further... all I can think is...
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
Please, don't forget folks, that this week also has had it share of downtime where patches ( including one going on now) were 4 hours or longer. So even if you were on every second it was live, it has not been 24/7.
Like other posters have said, this game is going to be in trouble if people can churn through levels this fast. Now, has he churned through content this fast? That he does not say.
I myself play 3 hours a day at most and already level 41. Lol and behold I stopped playing cause of crashes in field of the dead. I wrote a 3 page review but I am not going to put it up. Most players know we are playing a beta game. It is not Vanguard, but it aint far from it.
I am going to play until WAR comes out. Simply nothing else appeals to me now.
Age of Conan is irritating to play at worst, but great when it is working well.
I can't believe anyone actually thinks this game is good. Not to mention in 7 months there will be XBOX players logging in to ruin the game further... all I can think is...
its a hell of allot better than vanguard and you have played that for 300h
Even if he does have two 80s, what did he expect? He blazed through the content to rush to the endgame, when most of the players aren't at the endgame yet.
I can't believe anyone actually thinks this game is good. Not to mention in 7 months there will be XBOX players logging in to ruin the game further... all I can think is...

Vanguard at launch maybe, Vanguard now, fugedaboudid. For a start Vanguard is a true MMO and a seamless world. Im not advocating for Vanguard but that is a truly ignorant statement.

Is it so hard to post a screenshot, we want to see how armor and weapon looks like at lvl 80 ? common
Of course there is no satisfaction for you at 80. You exploited it.

A casual gamer does 2-3 hours a day on average, max maybe 4

Pretty simple to get to 80 when you do the exploit.
This information was all over Funcom website on what to do with the people that exploited the game mechanics.
