Is this poll restricted to people who bought AoC or can any old person just vote? How is that poll any more legitimate than what the people on the boards post or vote?
The link you posted here shows that 80% are happy and less than half of that number are happy but not pleased with the current state. If fail to see how this proves your point.

The wording of the poll and the lack of verification if the people voting have even played the game however make me question the validity of the poll

actually, you seem to have read it wrong, it's only 20% whose "unhappy" with the game itself.
31% are happy and are pleased with it's current state 49% are also happy with the game but aren't too pleased with the current state.
Your poll has too many "negatives" if you count the 49% as the "bad one" as well, having like 4 out of 5 options being nailed as the "negative" is just plain stupid., you should have added more options to it then.
it's like having to choose from "I LOOOOOOOVE IT"!!!!" or "it sucks!" "it's crappy!", "it's terrible!!!!", "it's garbage!!!!". Where are the ones meant to be in between?

I think peoples desire to rip up the reputation of AoC is because they were deeply disappointed and feel wronged by Funcom.
Which seems silly to us right thinking individuals who realize that its just a game.

Alright, you don't have to be a troll to misread the information... just read...
If you click on your link now, you will see that the most part is happy, after that is the unhappy players.... plus, it doesn't require any ID to vote, that means anyone can do it.. no matter if you're a player or not... keep it simple... if you don't like the game go play something you like... you don't have to make a bad advertising about the game. Maybe you want to play but don't have the puter for it....
By the way polls are not facts but opinions. There was a time when everyone believed the world was flat. Would you say that because everyone thought this way it was a fact?

I play AoC and its a fact that the game is not finished, it has many bugs and classes are unbalanced, but its a wonderfull game, with a gorgeous engine. Havent seen nothing similar in offline or online games yet.

The title of this post (Fact: 70% of players unhappy with AoC) is not supported by the poll you link to.
In that poll, 80% of respondents said that they were happy.
In the first sentence of your post, you said that just under 70% ... are unhappy or not pleased with AoC in its current state. That statement is accurate though does not match the "fact" you purport in the title.
I'm still debating whether to purchase / play AoC and have waded through the posts here at mmorpg.com about it. I found the data in the poll somewhat interesting in that of those that reported that they were not pleased with the game's current state (n=767 at the time that I'm looking at the results), 82% (630 of the 767) *still* report that they are "happy". It makes me speculate that the game's current state must not consist of truly "game-breaking" bugs (at least for the content that a majority of players have encountered).
Moderately interesting data, but not enough to get me off the fence either way.

Funny, I just commented on this type of polling in another thread. This poll is comprised of a voluntary sample which makes it null and void in the realm of statistics. The numbers are meaningless no matter what they suggest.

A little hint about how "polls" work:
It's all about the wording and choices given for the questions. Here the options are overwhealmingly geared to encourage pollers to choose an option indicating they think something in the game needs to be improved. OF COURSE there are always things in an MMO that need to be fixed and reworked. And some people are going to be unhappy with it because they spent all their time trying to be the first to blast to level 80.
I wouldn't consider this a valid poll, and I wouldn't consider it an indication of the unhappiness of the players either. First, the poll only included about 1300 players out of a likely several hundred thousand total. This is a small minority of players. While the game certainly needs its content polished, and a few more bugs addressed, most players are happy playing the game. And you can judge this pretty accurately by simply going into the game and asking people if they are having fun or not.
In the end it's all about individual taste/opinion. Some may hate the game no matter what it does. Some may love it no matter how bad things may get messed up in the future. But for now the fact remains that there are no major problems with the game, and the minor bugs with it can easily be worked around. So, if it's fun to you, play it. If it's not fun, then go find a game that is. This isn't a job, or a life. It's just a hobby...
