I'm not an american and I canceled my account some days ago. Pity Cause I love Conan, the books and setting that is. The game needs more time, alot more.

What the heck do you mean by that? Since when it matters where the internet forum is located? I am not american and I agree with most of what has been said here. And I bet I am not the only one. Just because I am an European am I supposed to lie about the state of game just because Funcon (intentional misspell) is in Norway?

    it's wrong.

Do people expect an MMO to release without flaws? I need a serious answer here.

    Why the hell not?

Do you expect to rent a recently-built office building to have working bathrooms, electricity, working doors? a few broken door handles is one thing, but entire sub-systems not present or not working?

Moreover, do you expect to pay the rent on said office building while the builders fix it? Esepcially when the builders said on the lease that all features were working.

The software industry should be held to the same levels of basic accountability & merchantable quality that every other industry has.

Agreed. The more people forgive shoddy games and use the "It will be patched" mentality, the more the companies willing the companies are to release broken games. The apologists are doing nothing more than bending over and letting the companies have their way with them. Hell, it has gotten so bad that even console games are being released in poor states with a promise of a patch to fix them.

A few bugs here and there are expected, like maybe trees showing the wrong texture in a certain area or maybe like my poor ranger going bald sometimes when she changes zones. But to be missing complete aspects of the game when its listed on the box or touted by the devs as a major selling point is not acceptable and should not be accepted no matter what excuse they come up with.

I think it's a question of how much do you actually want to play a new game, that actually offers something new.

They do have some new things, or at least improved in AoC: combat system, spellweaving, graphics improved.

There's alot of things that can malfunction or have errors.

It's a risk most mature people understand if they take the time to research how MMO-releases works.

Sure we could have had an almost flawless AoC launch,

    - but do you want to play the game now or wait perhaps 5 more years that it might take to get it as flawless as a single player game?

MMO companies know that they can launch a buggy game to a certain extent yes, but it's because players are willing to play the game with a certain amount of bugs.

I know I am, I notice some of the bugs, and for those that know what they want from AoC, knows to appreciate the new stuff, and want MMO's to go in a certain direction, they wont be so bothered with the game that they will leave.

I still see nothing gamebreaking in AoC, but that will be an individual opinion because it depends what you are looking for in an MMO.

I want to change my vote. Funcom just either broke my class(ranger) or snuck in a change to our damage output, making us even more useless than before. I can put up with the CONSTANT instance crashes, the broken stats, broken feats, and serious lack of quest, but to spend my time working on a class just to have Funcom utterly destroy it... waste of time. I'm not impressed by Funcom's handling of these last few weeks.

i never tried it and never will. The fanboys on this forum makes me even more not to subscribe to this game.

If the community in game is anything like the forums here then i better stay away.

The AoC in game community has been good, at least on my server, so far. The community in game is nothing like the forums here from what I have experienced. I do expect that some of the quitters will try to stir things up a bit when their free time is about to run out, but I don't think this will be a big problem.

I also play a lot of Guild Wars, which has got the worst community in my opinion. This is probably because there are no monthly fees, but to be honest it does not bother me anymore, you just learn to ignore the kids.

WoW has a decent community, its problem being that the chat is littered with goldspam at present.

LOTR had a nice and friendly community, but I only played the 14-day trial so I can't really speak of experience on that one.

The best community I have ever experienced was in EVE online. I think it still is a brilliant game, but sadly it became too time consuming for me and my fragmented playtime.

I said "great" as i expected"

I've been following the game since late '04-early '05 and seen them change the character builds from skill based to leveling, boat loads of classes down to 12 and other cool features that sound good on paper.

Months before release the developers stated what was going to make into launch, what was dead, and was planned for launch but will be added later on. It was slightly vague but it gave you a good sense what was to be in launch and I have not been surprised or disappointed.

People complain about "no sieges" well there might be a reason for no sieges, because nobody has even gotten to a tier 3 citiy to even start building a "battlekeep" in the "border kingdoms". People complaining about stats, for the most part i think they're self explanatory but could be tweaked. People complain about no PvP reward or xp, but the devs said they weren't goin to turn it on yet. Itemization is extremely weak in the game and not yet have i found a way to get a "sex buff".

People wanted this game to be a WoW killer. A friend at work who plays WoW kept talking about how people in the game were saying "they can't wait for AoC so they can stop playing WoW". Why would you want a game to kill another game, especially one that you played and invested so much time in. As if more than one successful game is not aloud to be on the market at one time. And at no point did Funcom say they wanted to "Kill WoW". Tey World of Warcraft players said that.

Most at least have their STATS actually work, however.  Oh, and they also tend to haven content fleshed out throughout their level ranges to get players by until they can add more stuff at endgame.  They ALSO tend to have at least half of their promised features in game as well.

Let us not compare the debacle of what this game is calling "bugs" and what other games do.  I can cope with bugged quests...but when the game doesn't even use its own stat system yet, I'm forced to side with reason and assume these tools dropped a game which is barely even a husk of what it should be.

Mostly to me it just does not seem done yet.  Which I know is true of many games this early after launch.  There just doesnt seem to be anything there that makes me really want to continue playing?

    Im' sorry but you're wrong.

You'll find players coming from US of course then Eu Autralia, etc etc etc.

I'm European and I won't play this EU game : i know what AOC is really since i 'v e been in the beta.

I 'm european and play only US games. Because they re much better than this JOKE: VG EQ2 LOTRO (turbine) DAOC.

Even Wow is better. Can't bear capture of the flag sorry of the crane, paste copy from Wow but a bad and boring copy. High end pvp = paste copy from Alterac)

Prefer EQ2 to this poor copy, Antonica is more interesting than CL 2 called Wild Lands. (common Lands EQ2 =  Wild lands AOC)

Wow, what a failure. I'm pissed and I'm out!!

thx to the beta testing: canceled my preorder !

    Here's the difference.

What is actually in the game outside of tortage lacks polish.

Perfect example. Feats. They are poorly worded and don't provide enough information to tell players what they are getting. The first feat in the vengeance tree is improved smite. All i know is that my smite damage increases, but i have no idea how much. is it 5% per point or 1% per point. When I add a point in that feat, the damage of my spell doesn't increase on my tooltip. So players have to figure it out via testing.

Some feats are a joke. Mitra's searing eye. Supposed to be a situational spell that's great vs. undead and demons, except it blows because it has a long cast and the damage isn't that spectacular. It should be the spell of choice against demons/undead and somewhat useful against everything else. It doesn't. It fails as a feat. Yes WoW had a bunch of craptacular and broken talents  (Lacerate anyone?) but it wasn't nearly as bad as this game. At least I knew what improved frostbolt did when I picked the talent and my tooltip updated

Pyramid of the Ancients. Broken and buggy.

Main system/cistern. complete but horrible design. Public dungeon with fast trash respawn and slow boss respawn and huge level range. Not to mention, it's about the only place to quest in the late 50s when you're done with eiglophian mountains.

player cities - don't do squat

    crafting - pointless or broken

pvp - mini games and world pvp that serve no purpose

class balance - non existent. Necros/demos were broken from the start. Nerfing broke others. Huge discrepency in pve prowess. Nothing wrong with healers leveling well, but they level much much easier than other classes.

resources - Orichalcum = duskmetal. ruby silver, obsidian, etc. I mean how could that have even got through beta?

    professions - can't drop a profession. W T F

respeccing - can make you lose your professions.

zones - 1 zone from 50-60. need I say more?

architect - have to spend twice as much gold so you can build your city and train your architect. stupid stupid stupid. Also, why the hell does each frickin wall cost as much as a damn trader's post and keep.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Are most quests working? yes. Is tortage masterful? yes. Is the combat fun? Yes. Is the game lacking content (even basic), and tons of polish? yes. This is why players are complaining.

Fact is, game was released too early. If you can handle the subpar presentation, then there's fun to be had. But this is not a game to subscribe to in its current state.

I plan on subscribing another month to finish getting my character to 80 (as I enjoy leveling in rpgs) but will probably cancel within the next few weeks after I've completed what I wanted. The game was worth 50 bucks to me, but not a long lasting mmo.

730 votes, this poll did pretty good as it seems to match the ups and downs of posts in these forums.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

I think perhaps one of the most friendly communities I've experienced was on EQ2, but maybe that was because it didn't have an obvious PvP server for EU, so i started on a PvE at first x)

Also the crafting system in EQ2 was awesome, it was skill based crafting actually. Would be excellent to have something like that in AoC, don't know about the crafting there yet - haven't gotten that far.

I think for those that think community is very important to them, they might want to choose PvE server, I suspect they are a little friendlier. I usually play on PvP server, for the freedom it gives. It's interesting to see how people behave when they have the option of attacking someone, without being denied from the game.

Alot of the time people actually won't attack, but ofc there are the less smart ones that attack everything, even players 10 lvls higher...(had one of those yesterday, afterwards he cursed at me, allthough he attacked me first xD )

    Hmm..

Well so many already have stated their thoughts about this game.

When i bought this game i wasent intrestead to play it at all, i only bought it cues my bf wanted me to try it together with him.

Same day we installed it and tried it, and let me say neither of us liked it a bitt.

sorry for my words but this game sucked hairy balls.

I know i was against it before i bought it, i know i dident play more then a day.

But the time i spended was enough, i canceld my account same day.

This was more crap then a free mmo i had found the day before that still was on beta.

If i would recomend anyone play this?

    No..

If you like this then im sorry but i realy cant understand what you like in it.

Its boring in evry way, the lagg is horribel, and eaven a beta f2p is better then a p2p.

Yes yes yes yes its NEW

Yes yes yes yes new games dosent come out clean.

But if a game that is f2p that beats this and still is in beta i'd say this tells me evrything.

But the worst thing is that we have spend a loads of money

buying 2 games and 2 months on a game we couldent stand over 5 hours play time.

And theirs no contact for the game so you can get your money back from it,

and theirs no one where in our country that wants the accounts. Not eaven if we give it away for free.

This game will crash when a better games gets out.

    flame me i dont care

i will never ever go back to this game again.

(sorry for my bad grammar and spell checks)

  • UgottawantitUgottawantit Member Posts: 146

I voted good but a little disappointed.  I actually like the game. I've made  it to level 27 without grinding once.  I love that. What I don't like is that I have no money. Apparently I'm not getting money for anything I am doing in the game. I don't have a single gold at level 27. How I'm I ever supposed to buy a horse?

I just cancelled my subscription. I would like to come back to the game when it's fixed, but for right now. I'm not going to pay a monthly fee, it just doesn't make sense.

  • VultureSkullVultureSkull Member UncommonPosts: 1,774

You cancel your sub cos you have no gold at lvl27?

I am lvl43 and dont have 1 gold yet either!

A horse costs 1 gold to buy and 1 gold to learnt o ride, so you need two gold, and as you  lvl up the rate of gold you get  increases, you should always empty your bag and when playing make sure you keep things like teeth, claws etc, as these things stack in your bag.

Apart from the horse and the skill there is not much else to spend gold on, so dont worry.

  • FinbarFinbar Member UncommonPosts: 187

I'd love to give it a try at least.

    Cheers!
