NO! WAR won't be better than AoC! Everybody knows the upcoming patch for AoC is going to fix all of the problems people are having with it! A DEV even said so! The only reason it launched with the problems it did was because they were out of money! WOW this is one of those special ed answers. I knew that I would see keep on wishing it might come true one year.
AoC feels like a console game to me...its very ,very solo friendly, very linear, .....maybe the siege warfare will be more fun...but frankly I dont even think I can stand it that long.....I am so bored now I am posting/reading here instead of playing...........I will try war and hope its fun for me
Yep I feel about the same way...I'm not gunna lie...I WAS SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME and I do have to say it does have its fun parts but I just was not hooked at all...
It got so I had to MAKE myself play it to lvl up...b/c after lvl 50 its nothing but solid grinding and boredom...not the mention the endless ganking by random ppl when you would try to quest...
I originally was hooked on getting WAR but the hype of AoC got me but I am now back on the right road "fingers crossed" to an awesome mmo!

Pointless, I don't know. You can discuss various mechanics and such since AoC is already released and WAR's developers are being quite open with information about many of the core systems in the game. Of course how the game actually plays and "feels" can be gleaned best from game events, which of course is only beta versions and not the final game. And the actual beta testers who're playing the most recent version of the game are under the NDA. So while we can't come to a 100% certain conclusion, we can still compare gameplay mechanics, systems, graphics and design philosophies and evaluate which systems we prefer and why. It'll of course be a subjective matter, and not everyone shares the same idea of what's fun.
To me its pointless to compare Apples to Oranges. If say WAR was being built to cater to the type of gamestyle that AoC was then I'd see the reason to compare to figure out which one is better.
I Mean how do you compare a PvE Tier'd Raiding / Hardcore Guild game to a Co Op Community based PvP / RvR game? They're fundamentally different.
If WAR suddenly added player City building I could see comparing the two City Building Techniques. Or if AoC suddenly merged the leveling systems of their PvP & PvE paths like WAR I could see comparing that too.
As it stands they're hard to compare on a mechanics level. The most we can compare is when the game's Open Beta hits we can compare community relations, smoothness of the beta, smoothness of the launch etc.

I have been shocked that the AoC crew has not shown up as well. Or at least the "We are too busy enjoying the game to post" line. That one is a personal favorite of mine. Maybe servers are up, or maybe they fried thei hardware trying to trick it out to make the game run properly. *Snicker*
In all sincerity tho, I do hope the game succeeds. I think maybe the WAR devs are wishing the best for them also. As long as the pixel-tits are available the kids may stay busy and leave my WAR alone.
No dev wishes ill of another company's game...the industry has everything to gain from multiple large successes. The more successes the industry has the easier it is to get investors and larger budgets to allow developers more time to make large quality products. Some never learn lessons though and toss the money out the window on pointless things but thats just life hehe.

It depends on your perspective.
If you're a player then it's a broken billing function.
If you're an FC investor then it's definitely a welcome feature.
Funcom has always pulled that kind of crud. Back during the launch of Anarchy Online (AO), when the game got really bad and players started complaining on the official forums.. Funcom simply started gagging forum accounts. Anyone who complained in any way was temporarily banned or had a gag placed on them, so that the game didn't look so bad on the official forum. That was right about when I left.
The players at Funcom might have changed, but it sounds like some of the same old same old. DnL did a lot of this "billing is the only thing we do really really really well" recently too, and it really blew up in their face. It's unfortunate to see it.

Actually, considering the email that people got yesterday informing them that they would have their first charge on their credit cards on the 25th... and many people got this notice even tho they cancelled after a few days of play. I am not sure if that constitutes the billing system being broken, or is just a fine showing for how up to date their staff is with the happenings of their game and how "Broken" their support team is. On that note however! I think when Funcom reports their official subscription numbers, it should be remembered that they are currently "counting" the people who cancelled so long ago as current subs and sending out mail accordingly!

I don't get how people can continue to play something so unfinished and broken and keep on the mask of "it'll get better" "updates are in the works" etc....why doesn't it work now!? The worst is that Funom went and announced new content for this summer already and their game is broken....frickin heck....fix what you already have before adding more broken...u know!

you can't even compare WAR and AOC .
AOC is a single player PvE game that is pretending to be a PvP MMO.
WAR is a PvP MMO from the ground up .
they are 2 completely different games .
as for will WAR be better then AOC ? well thats all opinion and here is mine . . .
if you like PvE AOC isn't to bad .
