this is definatly the major problem with conan . funcom overshot what the average computer was capable of by about 1-2 years . mid range pcs struggle with conan even on lower settings ( mid range meaning pentium dc 2.5-3.5 ghz 8600-8800 cards 2-4 gb ram ) . the home pc needs to catch up with conan and unfortunatly its not a game that will hold the majority of peoples interest longterm

Im running with an 8500 GT and I get aroung 25-40 FPS. It runs fine for me. Rarely gets below 10.

For me, WotLK was partly what caused me to quit the game. The expansion doesn't show anything to me than a backwards decline. WoW reached it's climax at the period of time right before BC came out. Since then it's been slowly declining... not that it's going to die anytime soon, but it's not going to really get much better (maybe in subscriptions, but not in the actual game). It's slowly killing itself with these expansions.

For others, it's a simple answer. WoW is like Ramen noodles; everyone has them, everyone uses them, everyone doesn't love them but they're decent enough, and they're cheap and easy to come by. WoW is owned by almost every MMORPG player, or at least the trial was used... it's the most popular MMORPG by a tenfold of any other game out now. It's not the greatest game but it's efficient, and doesn't require much on your part. You could play the game on a ten-year old computer with ease and little issues.

AoC appeals to a small crowd of gamers, it isn't trying to appeal to everyone's tastes. Not everyone will try this game for that reason along with the fact that this game has the most system reqs. to ever come out for an MMORPG. It's a fantastic game but only to a certain few that the audience appeals to. Your computer needs to be pretty decent (two years old or so) to be enjoyed at the level that it should be enjoyed.

And Conan is one of the worst published MMORPG of them all.
Sure the first 20 levels LOOK polished, but even from the first screens you see  very unpolished elements underneath, IF you come from Wow that is.
Seen those items in your bag in Conan ? Are they designed by a 11 year old ? Framedrops and combat lag added with complete idiotic stats on items. But the copies of copies of instances were the coup de grace.
You must be completely out of your mind if you are an active Wow player to give up your characters for AoConan.
In fact I encourage Wow players to try out Conan. I can't imagine a better publicity for playing Wow after that.

I gave up my WoW account to play Age of Conan.  I also haven't been testing WAR that much lately because I am too busy having fun in Age of Conan.

World of Warcraft has run it's lifespan in my opinion.  Even if Blizzard paid me I wouldn't go back.  It is mind numbingly boring now to play the game.  I have found the content after BWL to be pretty boring.

Anyone that is continuing to play World of Warcraft either is too addicted to see how boring the game is, a new player who hasn't burnt out on the repitiveness of the game, or World of Warcraft is their first MMO and so they don't know any better.

There is no idiotic stats on items.  Age of Conan currently isn't a gear centric game.  You know there are more games that have been released that aren't gear centric then ones that are.  Just to name a few:

    Gear Centric games:

    World of Warcraft

    Everquest 1

    Everquest 2

    Non Gear Centric games:

    Asheron's Call 1

    City Of Heroes

    City Of Villians

    Guild Wars

    Lord of the Rings Online

    Age Of Conan

    Dark Age of Camelot

    Ultima Online

I would rather not have an idiotic gear grind to get gear I am going to replace with the next expansion.  Why raid when I can replace my Epic gear with Greens around level 72?  Their whole system makes no sense.  And more and more people are getting tired of it and are getting burnt out by it.  Diablo's loot system worked great for Diablo.  It works great when random mobs can drop great gear.  It is horrible in a raid centric game.  Oh lets run another 20 times before the item I wants even drops and then oh I don't have enough DKP because the other guy was waiting for that item as well.  Guess I will have to wait another 20 raids to see it.  Oh wow I got my great item.  Well I guess it will be fun to use until I get this green that replaces it in a couple of levels.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
