I never played swg so whether you are full of it or not I can't say. What were the server population like? How many points of interest where there hunting wise? I started playing UO 98 lasted over 6 years so I played and loved the ultimate sandbox.
I grow tired of trying to have a conversation with someone that obviously knows everything.
Ooh wow, so I typo'd a 3 to a 4. And?
Server population was 3-6k per server. How many points of interest were there hunting wise? Hundred... maybe more. Fact of the matter was that the only distinction between planets was core and frontier. Frontier ones were harder but core planets still had plenty of difficult content on them, (Tatooine, a starter core planet, had one of the hardest mobs and dungeons in the entire game with the Tuskens, one Tusken Zeolot could, and often did, slaughter people for hours if someone aggro'd the many kilometers from it's spawn point back to a starport).
And aside from PvE content the game had completely dynamic PvP because you could not only build your own city where you ever pleased, sans the frontier worlds, but you could place Galactic Civil War bases where ever you please so the PvP front constantly shifted every single day.
The only place people ever actually clumped together were the large cities like Theed on Naboo and Coronet on Corellia.
So yes, it can be done, it has be done, and your myopic view on MMO mechanics is still very, very sad especially considering you apparently played (and enjoyed?) UO.
I read the first couple pages and i have the following to say. the image of women in MMO's is skewed towards appealing to men (males rather) Are all games like that? No. women despite climbing numbers are still a minority in MMO's gaming in general. Is it right? probably not.
Graphics will continue to move on. You can't expect to keep playing games on the same computer forever it's just not going to happen. When you look at it from the long term perspective it's a bad idea to build a game based on low end or mid range graphics because after awhile other games are going to look better and your game isn't going to sell as well. Games like AOC are in for the long haul, they may be top end now but after 3 years they are going to be mediocre. Whoever, said that real time graphics are reaching a threshold is just plain wrong. The power of computing is infinite and will continue to climb. 3 years from now 16core/threaded processors will be coming around the corner, multiGPU on a single die will also be coming around. If not already available. That's just the way things are. It's not great but it's not too terrible is it, you have to admit that things look pretty cool.
Instancing, it's neither good nor bad. it can act as a pressure relief for peak hours it reduces server load and it provides a working space that is not tamperable by other players. One of the problems i had was going out to kill a boss and as i was working it down someone else pops up finishes it off and runs away with the kill and drops. with instancing this isn't a problem only you and people you allow enter your instance. the problem with instancing is that it can be poorly implemented and leads to a disconnect between you and the game.

Looks like your numbers are a bit off.
