The title says it all. If there were a classic Pre CU (Combat Upgrade) server would you join? I know for myself I would join if they made a couple changes, that were needed before the CU, And a few more things.
I know that there are more things that needed to be remedied, but these were the game breaking things in my mind. The game needed minor tweaks, not a game changing NGE. The thought should have been let's give the vets what they want and the vets will tell one person about the game, and then ten. This is how they could have gotten the Magical 1 Million dollar subscription rate they have been hoping for, no marketing ad campaign was going to do it.
So if there were going to be a classic server I would definitely join.

A year to six months ago I would've jumped back in wholeheartedly, but now, not so much.
I don't know. You should update your poll with a 'maybe' option.
IF they released a Pre-CU server AND did some SERIOUS ass kissing, I could probably be swayed.
I fear the time has passed.
I dare them to prove me wrong though
Without a major personnel change at SOE, along with a fundamental change in the company's attitude toward their customers (something that won't happen without the personnel changes), I won't spend a single cent on any product SOE earns any revenue from. So to answer the question, no, I wouldn't join an SOE classic server.
ABSOLUTLY
Pre CU SWG was my favorite game and probably always will be. I long for the pre CU days but we all know SOE couldn't care less about the player base so this is a moot thread anyway. But I do hope that someone from SOE reads this and takes notice at how many people are willing to return for a pre CU server set.
A year or two ago, sure. Today? No, that ship has sailed. What I want more than anything is to see the NGE close down and SOE to have mass firings of everyone from Smed down like LEC had recently.
With all due respect to this forum NewMoon-bee , The PreCU is never coming back. SOE has the code but for some reason that only they and Lucas Arts know, refuses to regret the mistake that they made.
I wish you well as I started my MMO career in the neighboring AA County in the home state of the Host of yours truly.

I think a classic server would do very well along side the collection system and droid commander.
As others have indicated, I wouldn't go back because I can't trust SOE's management, from Smedley on down, not to screw the customers, again.
They have not learned their lesson. They think that the problem was "communication", not the fact that they totally transformed the game into something I never asked them to, nor did any other player, for that matter.
They told their customers to get lost, we've got better customers coming along to take your place.
Too bad no one came along to take our place.
They're not credible, and I just don't do business with people who obviously hold me and my fellow gamers in such utter contempt.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
Once a denizen of Ahazi
Hell no.
Hehe long enough to get the packets needed for the ducks. SOE has made it abundantly clear they no longer want my money for the three+ accounts I had.
Playing Fallen Earth.
i never played SWG but i would join to see what all the fuss is about.. seemed like a great game
Remember Old School Ultima Online
Maybe a few months after the NGE, but not now. Sony, not just SOE, has made it clear they don't care about the consumer. From exploding laptops to revamping games out from underneath the playerbase to jackass devs who insult those same players to having to buy a hundred dollars worth of cords to get a ps3 to run out of the box, I'm pretty sure they just chase dollars like butterflies these days with no thought to tomorrow. Focus groups are notorious for being flat out wrong about products. The man on the street may do well in a political focus group, but when it comes to an actual product, how many people play MMOs, let alone any computer game? And how many of them are wandering around the streets aimlessly and have time to be in a focus group, when a true MMOer is probably enjoying their real life or grinding out a box in the Defender line?
There is a reason their stock has plummeted the last few years, and it's not just due to any one division of Sony, it's systemic throughtout the company. I'm sure the founders of Sony are rolling over in their graves with the direction the company is heading.
That thread that popped up here a few days ago reminding me what an ass Torres was (and probably still is unfortunately) just makes me a little sad inside. His attitude that even if he and others did screw us and hard, well, they meant well so that makes it ok and no one should be mad. Om nom nom? Are you fing kidding me? I spent hundreds of dollars on the product, and then after it got changed I get personally insulted by a staff member?
Screw Sony, if they don't want my money I can live with that. God how I loved the pre-cu, but fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. And when are they gonna trade up on us again to chase a focus group and it's implied dollars?
no i would not.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
Yes i would! But i would prefer if they did not touch anything. Publish 9 or 12 i think would be equal perfect to me, but anything without CUNGE is fine. Ok, lets add in multi passenger vehicles and the imperial scout armor, but thats it!
Broken professions, no content, 80% resists and everyone gunning to be jedi and no content.................whats not to want.
I was an advocate of SWG, and still am, but the game is well past its time.
not another dime from me for any sony product. i had to get a new lamp for my 52 inch sony and i chucked the tv and bought a new one.
had to vote no as there was no
OHH hell no option
Indeed they had the chance do that 2 years ago instead they keep ignoring the bugs, copy and pasting the legacy quest as new content (Azure cabal, meatlump quests) and introducing new boring timesink grinds like the GCW system, collections (go kill a thousand rancors for a badge!?!) and the beastmaster lets forage and sample 5000 times expertise system.
The game is still a joke, the economy is ridiculous due to greedy loot vendors with players spending millions of credits on clothing/armour only to have them made useless the following chapter due to rebalancing like the glancing blow and block nerfs last year. By the looks of it they will never give free transfers or merge servers making the low populated servers worse.
No they had their chance they still ignore and treat the playerbase like dirt. Now I just want to see this unethical company learn their lesson the hard way with the plug being pulled and the execs like smed fired for trying to make into his little WoW clone.
I Hear you Jestor, I hear everyone who votes no. The truth is I miss SWG's the best intellectual property in my lifetime. The thing is the Developers of this game are not the common man, so it's safe to say they lack common sense. Just the mathematics alone should make them change their tune 300,000 customers paying $15.00 a month equals $4,500,000 not to mention all of the customers who had multiple accounts. I could only imagine how many more customers they would have garnered if they actually balanced the game, fixed broken profession, and done all this when the new movies came out. the word WindFall comes to mind.

The math has been done to death by me and countless other . The business sense is nonsense to SOE. I am here to see the game fold and fold it shall. Most of the better PreCU Devs are now over at Bioware , lets just hope that they bring their sandbox full of trick with them.

I got you, The thing is do you or I know what's in store with Bio Ware, infact we don't even know for sure that it is Starwars they're working on. SWG's was soo cutting edge, it was probably before it's time. the fact they there was no leveling, per se made me love this game. every Player was just as important as the next. it was a complete living, thriving Universe. Jestor I understand your disdain toward Sony I feel the same way. There will be a new Starwars MMO in the Future, but the thing is how long will we have to wait. until then I could definitely wrap myself back up into the Pre Cu game until then.
Oh christ, not another "bring back pre cu" thread.
LEAVE THE DEAD MUTILATED DONKEY BE!
SWG aint coming back, as much as it pains me to say it.
---
I voted yes with the proviso that John Smedley is shown the pink slip and his office cleared out. Under no other conditions would I try a balanced pre-CU server or any other SOE product again.

Negative, the damage is long done.
I hear you, it seems that a lot of people feel this way. I loved the game I know you all did to, or you would not be here. soo it's somewhat suprising to see the results.
No, I refuse to support anything with SOEs name on it.
