I feel like such a tool falling for something so ridiculous... but...
Anyone else think it's working that all MMORPG ads entice's you to download and play their game because they have a pretty cartoon female warrior/ninja/healer/witch in their ad? You know the ones with the tight waist, nice legs, pretty face, big, soft looking boobs, all being covered with full body armor but exposes the neck, above the chest, the thighs, you know, places that would make a guy go crazy..
Was wondering if this dirty(but valid and legal) advertisement move has worked on some people.

It doesn't entice me because most of those types are appealing to a younger crowd and i'm an older gamer....and the artwork is fairly generic.
I tried Rappelz briefly because of the potential for a free MMO with quality graphics and gameplay in a high-fantasy setting, and not because of the two skimpily clad goddesses in the advertisements, with bodies that would make Frazetta blush.

I tend not to get heated over graphic tatties plus like an above poster stated "Im an older gamer" these types of things have been seen over and over and over again. Mainly targeted twords kids and nerds with no gf's that live in their moms basement.

Anyways, pretty girls on the ads don't hurt, but I don't think anyone that's played an MMORPG before is going to buy an MMORPG just based on the cover art.
In all honesty, it is more appealing than seeing someone who looks like they've been poured into a suit of armor, like some kind of sausage in a can.
But, it really doesn't matter. If the game looks fun, it looks fun. Advertising doesn't do a whole lot from me, I tend to shut it out as it's usually just an annoyance. If I want a product, I'll go looking for it.
One of the great things about older RPG games was that the 2D characters were they didn't have much in terms of sex appeal. It was fun in UO to dress up your character and give them haircuts, but they jut looked like a cartoon character. Just another reason I'm not a big fan of realistic graphics.
Sorry Gill but cartoons don't appeal to me all that much!..tthe op said cartoons not pictures..If they turn you on get a live woman..geeezzz
You're just observing that advertising is mostly about using sex to sell some product.
This isn't new by any stretch of the imagination.
Just look at the AXE grooming products...they're basically a rerun of the Hai Karate ad campaign of the 60's!

You can't just out MMOs for using the sex appeal for advertizing. How many ads for just about anything do you see an overweight kinda ruff lookin woman? Prolly not nearly as many slim attractive woman in ads.

But I'm an older gamer and I'm enticed... so I guess I disagree with this. Sure, the younger crowd likes tits, but the older crowd likes them too imo. (since we are all just extrapolating our own ideas onto the world... which is what we do here right?) .... Boobs are fun and enticing at all ages. Expect to see blondes with cleavage selling geritol in the near future, (if it's not happening already).
True, but I have noticed an increase of OMG BEWBS on the ads on this particular site. FlyFF's ads in particular have switched from the "aw, wook at duh widdle witchypoo!" big eyes, big feet anime style to "wouldn't a strong breeze completely negate that top?" style.
I'm not complaining, mind you, just noting. Maybe everyone's trying to compete for AoC's nipple demographic.
If anyone can get me into Full Frontal Online, lemme know.

its funny tho. i have seen those FlyFF ads, and it makes me laught because i have tryed FlyFF in the past so i already know the women in the game look nothing like that.. should be considered false advertiesment lol. i can already see the reaction of the boob crazed nerds.. *logs in* "hey where are the hotties like in the ad?!?" *grumble* *log out, delete*

Wow, it's amazing that people are enticed by generic female artwork. Honestly, go put it in something that's not your palm or made of rubber, for Catphomet's sake. You'll find that it's a hell of a lot more fun than masturbating over a silly cartoon.

Yeah a pretty advertisement will make me check out the game and do a little research, but if it's just pretty graphics I probably won't play it.
