Personally, when I see ads like that, or ads like AOC stating they have a mature rating and nudity, I consider it a come on for a flawed gaming product. After all, what is more important to retain you in the game, a good system, or are you subscribing because you want to see a cheap gimick like boobs and blood?
When the developer starts talking cheap gimicks, rather than sound fundamental gaming design concepts, run like hell outta there holding onto your wallet with both hands.
I feel like such a tool falling for something so ridiculous... but... Anyone else think it's working that all MMORPG ads entice's you to download and play their game because they have a pretty cartoon female warrior/ninja/healer/witch in their ad? You know the ones with the tight waist, nice legs, pretty face, big, soft looking boobs, all being covered with full body armor but exposes the neck, above the chest, the thighs, you know, places that would make a guy go crazy.. Was wondering if this dirty(but valid and legal) advertisement move has worked on some people.
lol... feel free to call me a pervert or whatever
I geuss you don't own or watch TV? ever seen tv commercials?, or better yet look at billboards outside? Isn't this (unfortunaly) how advertizer work?, regardless what segement they in?
And to answer your question AFCOURSE there are people falling for it else we would start seeing abit more realistic type of add reflecting RL in those tv-commercials.
Just so you know SEX SELLS ( i don't agree on that but thats just the way things are in a world full of narrowminded people) <== commonly speaking and not meant directed at you OP
I have to agree with olddaddy...I'm not offended by scantily clad babes but the fact that they are just using cartoons is more a come on than an advertisement for a quality product........
because almost all the players are males and they included some sexy thing to caught the gamers' attention.
Yea, I'm looking at my Vanguard game box. You know the one, with that hot little elf wench in the center extending her hand to me in invitation. Strapless top that's almost sliding down to far......nice muscular thighs......
She was saying to me, "Hey lonely gamer guy, go ahead, take me off the shelf, plop down your $50, and you can take me home tonite, and get screwed".
Those kind of ads tend to put me off the games they are advertising. Because from the way I see it if you need to resort to such cheap tactics to get someone to pay attention to your game, it is probably not a very good game.
I don't really see how they can attract anyone either, all of these type of adds look the same, generally very generically drawn. It just isn't very attractive or interesting at all when you they keep using the same generic type of art, and add over and over again just with a different name for the game.
Sex obviously sells btw, cant remember who said it didnt but its been proven time after time it sells products. I think however for games it tends to paint the wrong picture.

at least it's been that way so far........
virtually all mmos advertise like this. since 90% of mmo players are male and 99% of males are "perverted".
sexy adverts really piss me off personally too dam distracting.
