Just to keep all up to date what mess last patch did.
COde errors 9, 11 and 13 are causing havoc all around. Some servers are constantly down cause of this while others have certain zones down. Noble district in OT is down on many servers and many that get Dcs are unable to connect back to the game cause of error 11.
Now to the important part
Funcom have been deleting ALL posts on the official forums about these problems. There are ppl that have been locked out of the game now for up to 4 days cause of the login bugs and yes.... Funcom deletes their posts and doesn't even post info about these bugs, if its possible to fix them or when Funcom will fix them.
Yes - This is exactly what it means patching up an unfinished MMO game after it goes retail.
Comments
Hang on a sec...are you the same guy whos going by the same name whos slating AoC on virtually every other thread about AoC? and now they implement a patch and already you know the problems its caused? why do you still play the game lol?
Oh wait it might be you dont but search endlessly for threads on how bad the game is lol. Thats quite sad hehe.
http://www.massively.com/2008/06/26/patch-postponed-for-aocs-us-servers-due-to-crashing-issues/
He's not making it up. Like it or not, it is an issue that people who are considering the game need to know about.
You can look at it as sad m8. I look at it diffrently. I want to play MMO games in the future that are actually delivering at launch - all those features the devs promised. And it has to have certain polish to.
Now.. .How will me talking about how bad the state of AOC is atm prevent more MMO games taking the same route as Funcom did with their unfinished game ? You go figure. If you can't then its not my problem.
I bought the game at launch so I could tell everyone accuretly about the state of the game and what the transactions from closed beta into retail actually brought us. Considering that it was supposed to bring sieges, spellweaving and dx 10... Then maybe you can see my point
Errors can happen in any game, and they always get fixed. They are not making you crash on purpose and this isn't some personal attack so they can ruin everyone's day. Something went wrong and they delayed the US server downtime so they could find and fix the issues. Stop picking on everything little thing and declaring it the end of the world. You're worse than Chicken Little, my friend. If you don't enjoy playing the game, then don't play it and go do something else. There are many others that are willing to have patience and allow the game to work out its glitches.
It's not the end of the world, and no one is holding a gun to your head, making you play.

Above is my current experience ... no support ..no email replies... no petition responses and any complaints in the forums and they block and ban you .. my ban is for two years. It was not even a harsh post.
BTW when they ban you they stop you reading the forums to, get by this by deleting cookies etc etc.
They suck.

Servers are still down if you read the patch notes. Thats all servers.
Now to the important part, they should be back up soon 2pm est. Then lets see if these people still have issues.
Funcom has error codes on the patcher info and links to fixes, seeing as your not playing I can understand you not seeing them.
**EDIT Funny how the above poster fails to provide exactly what was wrote. **cough proof** I think that you and your guild mates couldn't put across your issues in a civil manner and were "umphed".
Sigh, AOC players are such babies. Patch blows up and they freak out all over the place.
Heck, CCP recently provided an EVE patch that destroyed people's operating systems. Now that's hardcore. This is just routine kid stuff.
Shit happens when you aggressively patch, hopefully, they'll get it resolved quickly and the incident forgotten.

Well it's neither funny nor important to know exactly WHAT the above poster wrote that got him the 2 yr ban. The important part would be what the mass bans imply about the company, and how they are servicing their paying subscribers.
They can delete the obvious flames, and simply lock the threads they simply don't like (ie the ones where people are reporting they are cancelling and such). It's not fair to paying subscribers who are interested in the community to delete threads where people are displeased.
It's not so much the loss of a couple sentences, it's the mindset behind those actions that bothers people. What else are they deleting? That just "feels" shady and that bothers a lot of people. It does nothing to engender good feelings, trust, or to foster a close-knit community.
Agreed, though don't lump us all in one group, we're not all whiney twits :P
At this point in time, FC only has to sneeze and some hater will be there to point a finger and yell that they are spreading virulent bacteria and causing the demise of hundreds of innocent hamsters.
The amount of hatred some people are showing towards this company and game are bordering on the ridiculous to be honest. One could think that the company robbed them of their youth, killed their favourite animal and stole their favourite candy, all in one go.

so either u are still playing this game u hate, or u spend an awful lot of time on a game u are not even playing. either way u have too much free time, get a job?
MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
Yeah we definetly got alot of over dramatic posters on this forum. Though I have my own issues with Age of Conan, I still believe its a fantastic game and is alot better than most mmorpgs we have played in the last 3 years <imo>.
This whining excuse of the game being over-hyped is just plan horse shit. Every MMO that come out is HYPED beyond any meter, whether it was PoTBS, TR, Vanguard and even Hellgate: London.
And honestly, we all knew AoC agenda was not to topple WoW, even the developers stated this, but cater to a more mature crowd of mmo players. It was'nt looking for the young children that play WoW, Pirates of the Carribean and Toon Town crowd anyways. But unfortunately these kids under 17 can get their hands on AoC and see adult content.
Companys must advertise there product to sell it, whether we take the bait is up to us. But last time I checked, we all make mistakes in life, but we learn from our mistakes and move on. Some people can not just let go and we gotta hear them piss and moan until they just go away or find another hobby. Yeah, we get your point, you hate the fcken game and you were cheated, but whats your true agenda anyways?

I have seen the EXACT same posts on all the games I have mentioned on thie website which is truly sad, but hey, welcome to the independant game site forums.
Actually AOC closed beta tests broke my 8800 TGX videocard (the maiden blood movie). Shit happens - I dont care about such minor problems. Thats part of taking part in closed beta. But I do care about beeing lied to. And I do care about not beeing allowed to tell ppl the state of the game at launch. NOw ppl are finding out for themselfs how bad it actually is. And now ppl are also finiding out how limited fixes can be done when the game is spread over 20+ retail servers - instead of few test servers that can be taken down whenever the devs please to fix things.
You can't patch up a game that is this far from finish at launch. It only calls for more problems, more bugs and alot of unhappy ppl that are entitled to play what they payed for.
That's what happens when you have no quality control whatsoever. They patch, patch, patch, never testing anything. Why dont they relax with patching everyday, open up a test server so peoples can log in and test the fixes. But no, they just keep patching, patching, patching and look what happen. Surprising ? No. That game is such a huge pile of crap now, in a year a new players installing the game will have to download 100 gig of patch just to be able to play a game that was originaly 15go in size.
yep - client keeps on crashing. i hope they gonna fix this soon.
Funcom is doing what they have done for years with AO and now AOC. What Im trying to prevent is that ppl think this is the norm of MMO gaming. Its not. We have now got games that release polished games/expansions at start with minor problems. Thats what we should be asking for from all games. At least we should be asking for a game that has been tested for basic elements like class balance, basic systems like crafting, PVP system and items stats - Not that Im asking for endgame content to work perfectly. But AOC is not delivering anything of this. Any closed beta tester could have told you that crafting system was broken to the last day of closed beta. Every closed beta tester could have told you that Funcom had absolutly no testing done of the class balance in the game cause they changed basic abilites of classes one week before launch.. And so on and so on.
AOC should be coming out of OPEN BETA now. Now first after month of retail are we getting abit clear picture of key factors in the game and now we are seeing class changes, and crafing fixes (causing other bugs) . But now ppl are paying for things and many changes at this stage will enrage ppl (like changing class balance).
Most of the MMO gamers want to experience what AOC is offering atm. Thats why its important that all know whats going on - what they are in for and what is to be expected. This IS FUNCOM. This is how they deal with their MMO games. It will not change. And we don't want more of this.
Saying AOC is a good launch is calling for many more gaming devs doing the same thing. Selling ppl features and content that is not in the game at launch is not what I want. And its not what gamers want in general. Saying "hardcore" MMO players are fine with it is pathetic. Those ppl that claim that are not talking on behalf of all of them. And neither am I talking on behalf of all of the gamers. But Im defently not the only one that feel this way.
I really dont care if ppl like you or others that aparently like the game need to resolve to personal flaming instead of staying on topic. It says more about you and those that are using that tactic than it says about me and my opinions on AOC.
Finally - Im still young even tho Im 35, I dont have any favoruite animal and I drink beer - instead of eating candy. And I work 8 hours per day so I would love to be able to have FUN with what I do in my free time. It doesn't matter if thats playing AOC, other MMOs or watching TV. If I was watching and paying for a tv station that promised this and that and then delivered half of it - you can be pretty sure I wouldn't stay quiet.
Update - ALL AOC servers down
No ETA on ETA of them coming up again.

You completely miss the point.
The point is, the majority of mature players will point you to AoC's faults and shortcomings, of which there are quite a few. They will then also tell you that they continue to play the game, or quit playing the game. And that's that.
But there is another sort of player. One that is intent on continuing to attack the game -beyond- that. They do not merely state errors and tell people of their personal experience, they try to ridicule the game. They seem to be on a personal vendetta against the game and the company. That is where it gets ridiculous.
To go with your own analogy. If you were to order a pay-channel on TV and you suddenly realized that the channel...lost picture sometimes, the program was not what you wanted and the sound transmission wasn't constant, what would you do? Would you a) quit the subscription, maybe write an article about it on PAYCHANNELTV.com and then move on with your life? Or would you obsessively continue following the deal in order to gloat over every little new piece of information that is in some way bad?
Many people, particularly on these forums, are doing the latter. And that's what I described as ridiculous. You say you want to spend your free time having fun, then by all means, do that. Why "torture" yourself by following a game you obviously hated since Beta-stages? For the "greater good"? Please, that is just a nice line to toss in so people can feel good about thrashing other people (namely, the people who've poured MORE than 8 hours a day of work into this game, like it or not).
Any serious person, any normal person will judge the game by him or herself. And they will either have fun or they won't. The problems the game has have been pointed out, quite often I might add, as have been the positive aspects.
Lastly, I am not flaming you. I was not even replying to you in person. I was talking about a group of people on this Forum in particular that, as said above, have a personal Vendetta against the game, and by proxy, those playing the game. And to be quite honest, I think someone who obviously spends hours of time with something that he allegedly hates/does not like in the least, should not talk like you do about this particular issue. It says something about you as well.
In the end, the one thing, I am complaining about are not people talking about negative points with AoC. I am talking about those that, judging by the way they post and write here, have an agenda that goes far beyond pointing out a games flaws and a company's "mistakes". Think of that what you will, but if you look at these Forums a little more objectively, you will find that there are more than enough people who trash the game for trashings sake, not because they "care" about the future of MMO development.

It's not the first time a patch break a game ... they will resolve it (they have to, it's their business).
As about banning, in my experience, peoples get banned for:
- harsh language
- creating new thread when there are already a lot of them on same subject
- account status thread, but most of the time comment like "I'm out of that game" at the end of a constructive post
- moderator being upset and/or having real life issues (usually it's corrected within one or two days), they are human after all
They do not ban peoples just for the pleasure to do so, it would not be in their advantage to do so!
Now, you may or not want to discuss why unallow "account status" thread/post, I don't really like this rule in their ToS either, but that's another subject
Dont listen to one word AoCTester says. Look at his past posts, not even one good post from this person. Please, leave the forum because truefuly, I nor many of us care.
That's a very meaningful and valuable, deep comment.... glad you shared it with us!

My point would be that just like on TV - devs and investors of MMOs will keep on pushing it all the way. They will try to make more money - pushing what is acceptable towards their best intrests. Not the intrests of the players.
Ads on TV is good example of this. Its a way to make money. Now... there are boundries to what ppl are ready to pay for and then watch ads. Lets take sports for example. Some sports have been created or changed to complement more ads (longer stops - time outs and so on). Other sports stick to the tradition. WOuld you watch the European championship (Soccer ) that wil take ad break every 15 mins while play is ongoing ? NO. Then you have hit the pain barrier of what is acceptable. Would I pay for that ? Nope. Would I try to prevent that to become the norm ? Yes I would. I would do that by not only talking on forums but in many other ways.
There are ppl here only for flaming AOC and all the faults that are found out with each new patch that is launched - but there are also ppl here that are trying to make the point that AOC is not acceptable of what MMOs should stand for. If we keep saying that all MMOs launched half finished and buggy and had to be patched every week to fix gamebreaking features - just to excuse yet another bad MMO launch... then we wont see anything change. It will only get worse.
AOC has hit the pain barrier of many MMO players. Maybe because we are talking about a game that is rated as mature and we actually have mature ppl that dont take whatever that is thrown to them. Maybe some are bitching just to be bitching. But still they are doing more good in terms of MMO future launches than what the Fanbois are doing - defending what AOC stands for atm.
TV channel that only shows ads will not have anyone watching. And that leads to noone wanting to advertise on that channel. Thus the channel fails but many other channels that show less ads still prevail. Funcom is just another TV channel that shows to little content versus ads. It will pay the price. And thats good for the consumers. And sadly - like it or not - the MMO consumers have certain ways to make their opinions heard. SOme do it more so than others. But still it is good for the MMO gaming market in general.
Most of us want MMOs to get stronger and more ppl to enjoy them. Bad MMO launch is hurting the whole genre. Changing channel is equal to changing not only a MMO game but playing diffrent gaming genre. Thats not good for MMO long term. Cause no new players - and NO players means less money - less content - fewer games and less quality. We have alot of MMO players that dont care. But we have some that do care about the genre. NOt just single TV channel

Actually it is a good post. The AOCTester guy blames fc for his video card breaking during cb, since that time he has constantly spammed forums with complete and utter troll bait. This in itself isn't an issue, but AoC genuinely really does have a lot of issues and people like this just make it all that much harder for others to find out the real situation.
People used to come to this forum for the real opinion and views on a game but when a new game launches it has just become a place to smack talk and post bs. There are some good posters here who have good information why should we have to put up with idiots like this who hold a grudge as if a dev company personally insulted their family.

No, that comment was truly, purely rubbish.
Yours, on the other hand, is a little more useful. I still don't think that topics should discuss poster personalities. Especially not with derailing original concepts, like this one.

On a Topic-Related note, the Downtime for the US Servers has been extended to 8PM EDT. A Major fix for the Stability issues that caused the crashing on the EU Servers apparently has to be implemented.
Updates FTW.
As a reply to AOCTester, defending what AoC is like right now is not right. Defending that it is buggy and has faults is not right.
Having fun with the game nonetheless however...well, that's something different. Some, like you, say that people can only get companies to improve by boycotting them. I don't think so. Not in this case anyway.
But maybe I just want to believe in the good intention of others. I want to believe that the developers behind AoC actually want the game to be good and are working to achieve that and doing what you suggest would more or less pull the plug for that endeavor.
So you see, we have two sides. You say, boycott them all so they realize this is not acceptable.
I say, support them so they can deliver what they actually want. You may call me a sucker and an idiot for trusting the game-developers to actually want to do their job right. *shrugs* But that is my opinion. That does not mean I don't point out faults and flaws and demand them to be fixed and that, if I don't see improvements coming, I will eventually stop supporting them.
