First of all this is the real thing. Crusades is a MMO based mostly on Pre-CU, but also takes elements from other MMO's that the devs over at VisualFX have played over time.
Atm you cant wiev the classes section becouse its been taken down for an update. FAQ is a bit thin atm, but the devs over there have actually answered almost every single question we have asked them on their forums. The game is NOT 2-3 years away from launch. Its ready to enter the alpha stage.
If you are intrested in finding out more, head to their forums. If you are a notorius nay-sayer. Then stay away. We dont need your kind over there.
A new skillbased and sandbox sci-fi MMORPG is about to see the light of day. Its massive, its complex, it has no private instances, it has PvP, it has complex crafting(Looted items will NEVER be better than crafted ones). This is what most of you guys that post over here has been looking for.
Hauken Stormchaser I want pre-CU back Station.com : We got your game Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!
Our inspiration for creating Crusades evolved through experience playing MMO's. Playing along with friends and guild mates, we wanted to re-incorporate features that were no longer available or had been removed or nerfed in other games. Players invest allot of time into their characters and in-game experience. We will not be nerfing anyone and we will stand by the design constitution we have committed to.
Hmmm, I wonder if that gives anyone any idea as to what game they may be referring to.
Sorry to say that but that sounds like cheap talk to me. What will they do if they release the game and realize that a particular skill or spell, or whatever they call it, is five times more powerful as it should due to a bug. Leave it like that? Because if they fix it, the players will perceive that fix as a nerf.

Not true...
They could do several things to fix the problem with out a "nerf".
1) Bring every other skill up to match the power of the rogue skill.
2) Create an item or skill that will counter, and/or, off set the rogue skill.

I think what they meant are the whole system nerfs and 180 gameplay reworks (ie SWG)
They don't mean nerfs as in balancing. More like logging off one day playing a skill based game only to log in the next day and its a level/class based game dumbed down for the simple crowd.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Lol, kinda like what Funcom did in AO with Grid Armor.
"Hrrm... smurfs are a bit overpowered, but we can't nerf them because the whole point of the nano will be moot..."
"I know! let's give the Nanotechs a Grid Armor specific nuke!"
"Brilliant!"

"nerfs" can always be avoided, but it takes work!
You are joking right? Not only because you are changing your whole game design because of a simple glitch. But also because both of these solutions guarantee that instead of just fixing a problem, you will break the entire game. If it takes a nerf to fix a problem, you should very well do that.
"Bring every other skill up"? And then all characters are 5 times more powerful. Which means that you should up all monsters and encounters as well. Which means that you should change the xp curve as well. Which means that you should change crafting as well. And what about PVP? You need to rebalance that as well. And all of this, because you are too afraid of the idiots in the forums, calling your fix a "nerf". How professional.
And seeing such stuff in a prerelease FAQ gives me a bad impression of their team.
The game is NOT 2-3 years away from launch. Its ready to enter the alpha stage.
.....
Hauken, please don't take this as an insult, but I get the impression that you either haven't followed many MMOs before they were released or you are simply way too trusting. In either case I feel like I should tell you that the "alpha" stage for most MMOs is the point where the game is still ATLEAST 2 years away from release. Yes, I know you think that you have spoken to the developers of this game and that they have made promises to you that the game isn't that far away. These were lies. The developers of Shadowbane made the same promises to me seven years ago when they claimed that Shadowbane was in "alpha testing" stages but would start beta "any day" and would be released within six months. Shadowbane was delayed multiple times after that and took another two years to release. Even once it was released it was still quite far away from actually being "finished" by any definition of the term.
For a more recent example of what I'm talking about look at Darkfall. The developers of that game have been talking about beta testing for something along the lies of three years now. The game is still nowhere near release. All they have to show to even prove the existence of their game is a bunch of outdated screenshots and a few blurry gameplay videos. There is more evidence to support the existence of big foot than Darkfall. And right now this "Crusades" game seems to be in the same boat.
I'm not a "nay-sayer" nor am I trying to bash your game. I'm just trying to do you a favor here and stop you before you get too wrapped up in this game which I promise you is still MANY YEARS away from release, if it ever sees the light of day at all. Alpha testing means the game is still 2+ years away from release, at a bare minimum. If the developers of this game have told you otherwise then they are liars, plain and simple. MMO developers are some of the most notorious liars in the known universe, no matter which company they happen to work for. Don't trust them. And don't help them hype their vaoprware.
And if you still don't believe me then ask the developers of your game this question: If its ready to enter Alpha Testing, why does their website have only concept art and no screenshots? If the game is ready for alpha testing then it means their graphics engine is working and there shouldn't be any reason why they can't post screenshots to prove that. Right?
