Seriously get over yourselves, I'm here to ask a question and if you have nothing sensible to add please don't bother at all. I'm sure you think that it makes me an inferior being having played warcraft or something but I have played a good number besides. Quite frankly anyone who replies "I read xxx and stopped reading" is not someone's opinion I would value. But thanks to enlightening me on the comunity to expect had I continued playing. Even the trolls are wow forum troll clones tbh ;)

YEAH Vanguard is BAD, worst than DnL, worst than Roma Victor, a fake a vaporware. There'"s no game, there's no players,we're all fakes here, rating is a fake, i created 2300 accounts on MMORPG.COM to put higher ratings to vanguards and jesus

    I won

I year of fight, I year of fake accounts and Now VAnguard is 8.1

In 1 month (it takes time to create fake accounts you know ? ) I'll put VG on the 1st place, rating 9.

     --------------------------------------------------------

Vanguard is a piece of crap, full of bugs, awfull, craft is a crap, adventure a crap, diplomacy boring and it takes 1 Hour to pass a chunk, an hour, even with my 2,8X2 and a 8800 GT.

Now I must buy 2 other computers, install Windows on the 1st computer, Launchpad SOE on the 2nd one, and the game on the 3d because it's too buggy.

    ---------------------------------------

    ROFLMAO.

What did you expect with your troll ?

Thanks: you hate vanguard. Vg's community is one of the best of the mmo's world, we don't need trollers.

Im sorry but your post started off the wrong way and now you regret it.

I think going into a VG forum saying vanguard has worse graphics and gameplay then WoW, will get you this exact response.

I played WoW for about 2 years, it was a great game.

But Vanguard has worse graphics then WoW? Are you kidding me? You obviously dont have a computer capable of running the game on high settings, which is why WoW is the game for you and not VG.

WoW is for everyone, thats why its popular, vanguard is for a certain breed of player.

Also to the guy who said "The only thing different about vanguard is the setting, crafting and diplomacy"

HAHA! that made me laugh really hard, the whole point of the game, is you get great crafting, combat, and diplomacy, you can play any sphere of the game you want. Most people never even get into crafting or diplomacy so they dont even see the full game. What im saying is, all the things you named that make it different are huge, and you act like crafting and diplomacy are nothing.

Don't tell me what I do or do not regret. I asked if I should expect more from the game. Any damn right I think the graphics are worse, the character models are laughable, granted some the texturing is nice but that's about it. If you can't accept to hear anything bad about Vanguard you're living in a dream world. Accept that not everyone will share your opinions.

I perhaps underestimate the petty and childish nature of internet gamers. Oh well more fool me. You keep fooling yourself the game is perfect and at the same time alienating potential new players.

Yeah the character models definately need a re-work.

Dude, you have already made up your mind that you hate the game. So first of all there was no reason for you to post about it, your not that important. Second of all the first thing you say is that its a poor wow clone. Do you really think people are going to respond to that nicely? I mean come on if you think people are gonna respond well to that you're ignorant.

Now here's where you messed up which pretty much made it so where you was not going to get a nice respond, WoW has better graphics than VG. Thats interesting, the character models do suck I'll give you that but everything else is miles ahead of wow and anyone with eyes can tell you that. So exactly what was the point of posting when you had already made up your mind that you just didnt like it? Do you really think people care about you that much or are you just begging for some type of attention?

I find it hard to believe you found nothing new.

    Did you try diplomacy?

    Have you experienced the crafting?

    Did you build a house?

    Did you build a boat?

Can you do anything like that in WoW?

Or did you just start questing and grinding levels?

Are you mad that the world is so massive and it actually takes some social skills to meet and group with people? Travel itself is an experience unlike anything you'll find in WoW.

Vanguard has alot to offer. SOE has done a great job so far making it a more inviting game to play. It's far from perfect and it actually just hit the point of being good enough to release. In the next couple years as more people migrate to quad cores and the likes of the new g280 cards this game will shine.

That being said, this game is not for everyone. Although it's been made easier since beta it isn't easy. Not everyone wants what Vanguard has to offer. I'm still on the fence whether i'll resub or not after the free time. I have a new build coming via fedex next week. If it rocks Vanguard i might re-up. If it can't handle Vanguard i'll be washing my hands of the game.

i'm building a 680i/q6600 with 2 500gb 7200rpm sata 3.0gb/s in raid. I'll probably buy another 8800gt to sli before the months up. This should be more than enough to handle Vanguard on it's highest settings. Actually i'm also curious to see eq2 on extreme hehe.

Do you mind telling me where I had made my mind up. I was hopeing someone would give me a reason to persist as I didn't know what the game had to offer. If you actually read my post you'd see that was the key topic.

I'm not going to sugar coat my opinion so not to upset a few people. The people who are so touchy generally arn't mature enough to have an opinion worth listening to. I was happy to say that first opinions can be misleading hence the whole point of the question being asked. If the game diversified from is unoriginal roots then I could accept it and carry on. But all people read is omg he's slating Vanguard, he's a troll. I stated my problems wondered if it changed at all. No it wasn't tactful it was genuine concerns for the game. I wasn't going to play if it didn't change and from the posts, I doubt it will much so I've got the info I wanted, I would have prefered to hear different but hey, we can't like everything.

As for the graphics, charcter models are kind of key imo, to be an imersive rpg the environment is a distant secondary. But having said this, the graphics are subordinate to gameplay. Having played a fair amount of Anarchy Online recently good game play and mechanics can make poor graphics unimportant. Something that Vanguard didn't really offer initially.

No to be fair I didn't get that far but that was the point of my post to find out what these key features to look for were. Thanks for your post pretty much what I was asking. I had no idea how integral these componets were to the game or if the were just a little side flourish.

Yeah you gotta try that stuff. It's what makes Vanguard different from WoW. Well that and bad character models, a resource hog of an engine and a failure of an early release.

Anyway, IMO VG is one of the best PvE games out there.  The crafting is pretty ineteresting, and it seems you were a little bit of a lower level before you reached it.  I found it rather addicting.
I am reaching the grind though, but at the moment it's the best thing I can find on the market (that is released).

to be truthful vanguard is full of bugs and has not improved much since launch.

consider keeping it clean of bugs first, then you focus on wow fanbois..100 people were on the vanguard pvp server  last night at peak time..i think vanguard could do with a few wow fanbois

I actually did read your post thank you, I can understand not wanting to sugarcoat things as there really is no need to. You could have said it differently though, comparing any game to another game is a basis for flames. Just like you getting defensive over your Opinions everyone else is gonna get defensive over their's.

Just to be honest, if the game doesnt grab you immediately, it probably won't ever grab you. Im not saying that to me dickish or anything believe me vanguard needs the new players. Its just that you played the game for a good hour probably. If it doesnt grab you then the other sphere's (crafting and diplomacy) wont either. The ship and house building is fluff, it doesnt add anything to the game so it wont have weight to consider staying, its unimportant stuff. You already said that the pve is bland, thats what the game is, its a pve game. So no matter what the other stuff is it still comes down to it just being a pve game and if you dont like that aspect then thats hating 75% of the game.

euhm isn't EQ a clone of UO? :) not sure about that though

And tbh wow is a pretty good game but I can understand why you don't like the fanboys :) it can get pretty annonying some times. But WOW is still the game that made MMORPG as popular as it is today, theres no denying that :). Which is a very good thing cause now companies are more interested in creating mmo's which would mean we get more choices. If only they didn't try to copy to much from eachother.

    Vanguard rocks

I've been playing it for 2 months and I'm hooked .The dungeons are unique ,the world huge and exciting and  the community helpful.

I get really annoyed when someone says " game is full of bugs and not much has changed since launch"

The Dev's have done excellent work in improving the game .I have completed about 150 quests and only 2 were bugged .So please leave those statements of ignorance until you've played and can actually comment objectively .

    :)

I will be getting a new pc in the near (ish) future so if it's worthwhile I'd contine but as it stands it's not looking like a great investment of time. I feel bad asking this so early in playing but these are real concerns.

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome, in order to enjoy the game, was finding the right class to suit my playstyle.  The first 4 classes I tried just didn't agree with me, and I, too, thought the game wasn't very good because of it.  However, after stumbling upon the Sorcerer class, I found it changed my perspective of the game 180 degrees.

So if your disdain is for the game in general, then maybe its just not right for you.  But if your disdain is simply how you are experiencing the game through one particular class, then you have options.  IMHO, its worth the effort to play around with the classes until you find something you like.

Also, if you come into a game with high expectations, you are nearly guaranteed to be somewhat disappointed.  VG is what it is.  From what I understand, the game has only 2 devs working on it, so if you are expecting a game with full studio support and a large budget, you will also be disappointed.

Ok, I'll stop rambling now... too much coffee...

Could anyone tell me what I should have to look forward too. Atm it just seems like the same old same old with a poor engine. I'm not here to slate the game but I feel a little let down after spending 12+hours patching it to find nothing new. I would love it if some experience gamers could let me know the big pros I should look forward to and aim for.
