Can someone vouch for Portfolio.com's validity?
edit: Here's the portfolio.com article...

I so hope that is true!!!! Next question WHEN does it come out????
Would really really suck if this where true, but.....
was an XBOX 360 Exclusive
If in fact the portfolio.com article is true, I'm certain we can expect some sort of press release or statement to confirm/announce the game officially very soon. If it's not true, I think we can also expect a statement from EA, since they claim to be getting this info directly from John R himself. If he in fact did not say those words, he's gonna want to clarify it.
So expect something... sometime.
Can we now say "BOOM! HEADSHOT!" to the NGE fanbois that didn't believe us vets? he he he!
you'd figure it would happen sooner or later... to many cries from consumers on this one. it would honestly be stupid if they didn't make it.
the whole concept of KoToR is way better, than rehashing what has already been written with SWG.
plus with bioware, its going to be amazing... especially if they add in the story elements like they did with Mass Effect.
I'd wait for confirmation from a few other websites first. But it sure looks true from here.
There is certainly a big push forward of the Star Wars franchise. That certainly gave the possiblity a lot teeth. I don't know why people on this fourm seem to have such a hard time following simply logic.
I see it the other way around. This mmo will probably be what the NGE should have been if done right, rather than anything like preCU. It might be a good game never-the-less but I'm not expecting a sandbox or skill based profession system, or a rich crafting system supporting an extensive player driven economy. This will be an NGE'er wet dream. A single player star wars game in an mmo setting.

Yes I highly doubt this is going to be SWG. But any starwars game done well is better then what there is currently.
This news uplifted my bad day, thank you.
I just hope that Bioware can release it on 2009 like they said and at the same time be very polished. This is the only developer I have confidence in that can do that.
Now wheres the trailer damnit, I want to see it so bad.
A Bioware Star Wars MMO will be a good game. Will it be a good MMO? Perhaps. Will it be the SW MMO that will feature many aspects of Pre-CU SWG? Sadly, probably not.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

No I can not see Bioware making a skill based game let alone a sandbox game. This will be another run of the mill MMO with Star Wars tacked on the front. Then again I would be pleased to be proven wrong with release.

The Portfolio article certainly seems to confirm things. As for the game itself, I agree, it will likely be the NGE done "right"; that is to say, all elements that made WoW so popular will be in it, on a big IP with an epic storyline. No trace, sadly, of pre-CU.
I have to wonder, though, if that opens things up for someone else to run the pre-CU code. That has to be the most-requested non-existing game in history. There's definitely a market for it, but it's more likely LA will just let current independent developers finish the job they've undertaken and leave it at that.

Bioware has my full support in any game they develop. MMO, even better
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Actually, if Bioware could pull off what AoC could not (with the story system) that is how I see the gaming blooming out to be. You could basically take Kotor and add in MMO interactions and I would play it.
So on to speculation. . .what classes would you think we would see. General run of the mill classes like what SWG had. Or are we going to see the subclasses of Jedi such as Guardian, Consular, Sentinel, Master, Watchman, and Weapons Masters to name a few. Hmm could be interesting

Massively has also linked to the portfolio.com site claiming EA has made the confirmation.
that's from yesterday and I don't see a link to the porfolio.com site anywhere.

I find it interesting how a non-gaming website can get what I'd consider the juiciest story of E3, leaving all other hardcore gamer news sites in it's wake.
mmorpg.com staffers, how about chasing Johnny R down for a quick word eh?
It certainly looks like this is true , I just hope they include BH as a class/profession .

Anyone think EA might be holding off on an "official" announcment in order to avoid overshadowing Warhammers up coming release?

Truthfully, I don't think EA cares. If anything a release for Bioware's game could be years off.

True , but Mcintyre(SP?) did announce a few years back to expect a new Star Wars MMO around 2009 .

I agree with all 3 of you guys quoted!
- This won't be anything like a sandbox game, there won't be a good sandbox game out for another 10 years.
- This will definitely be better than the current SWG, and hopefully will be as immersive as the original SWG, but with less bugs. I'm sad to see a class-based, more linear game, but at least it will be a class-based linear game THAT ROCKS!
- To anyone that doubted a second SW-based MMO, you must have been in denial. It was inevitable.
Well it's up on this site now to.
