Not neccesarily the best but the most fun mmo's I played:
1 Planetside (2 and some years)
Much more complexity and choice compared to normal online fps games.
Quit because I got bored after two years and the fact the playerbase was very small.
Tried again 30 minutes ago but the game keeps freezing.
2 Starwars Galaxies (6 months, and my first)
Played it twice. 6 months before the CU/NGE, and all I did was group and grind, lots of fun till I hit max level, then I quit. Played it again for a short time a few months back, appreciated the complexity of resource acquiring (factorys and stuff) housing and crafting, but was bored anyway so I quit again.
3 WOW (3 weeks)
VERY polished game, almost no bugs and I love the artstyle especially the scenery. Was not to happy with the simplicity and when I found out resources for crafting cost more then the final product I quit.
4 EVE (2 months)
Tried it twice byt it was to boring for me and I didn't like the fact it was in space.
I have much respect for the game and the developers because of the sandbox type game and the pvp. If they ever make a game with actual characters instead of space I would be very interested.
greatest game ever. people loved it and the numbers showed. putting jedi in as the end game was just the best system ever. pvp that lasted a whole weekend. swg pre-cu is one of the best mmo's made and i hope it comes back. be it a rollback or bioware giving us swg vets what is owed to us.
2.uo pre-trammel
tons of danger at every turn. great crafting system as the loot sucked. pvp ruled the day. would have been great if trammel never came out.
3.shadowbane
tons of pvp nuff said
4.daoc
again another pvper's dream game. look for daoc classic servers to start bring in tons of players.
1- City of Villains/Heroes. No other MMOs could boost keeping the Anofalye 5 years, even if my interest dwindle a lot and switch, I am still there.
2- EverQuest. If it was not for raiding, I would still be playing that game. Raiding ruins it all, and it even ruins other MMOs. Raiding has no room in my MMO, unless they do it an intelligent ways, as in #1 (no rewards exclusive to raiders)! I play it about 4 years...with over of 1 year in game time...LOL.
3- Saga of Ryzom. Different and upholding their belief. I play it a month...which no other MMOs beside the first 2 manage to do.
4 & 5 - I really don't feel like any title is worthy of getting these spots. I guess I could fill WoW in there, but it is an EQ/DAoC clone...could also possibly think of putting DAoC there, prolly in 4th...but meh...

1) City of Heroes/Villians- Been there since release, don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Too much fun, a lot of great RP and community on Virtue.
2) SWG Pre-NGE- Some of the best gaming experiences i've had were there...havn't really been that involved and immersed in a game since then.
3) Eve Online- Love it...great to see a sandbox, skill based style game around and doing as well as it is. Hoping for more MMO's that follow that style in the near future.
4) Everquest- Where i started with MMO's, and stayed until CoH came along. Many memories, a lot of time spent there.
That's about it from me...not really thinking of a 5th choice right now.
1.Asheron's Call- had fun there for almost 4 years. Excellent community and had new content added every freaking month. I'm not kidding- every month they added new things to the game- it was amazing!
2.LoTRO.- Gorgeous graphics, mature community, overabundance of quests and new content every couple months
3. Ragnarok- honorable mention because my daughter played it and loved it for 3 years
4.Guild Wars- great game for a "no monthly fee" game
5. WoW- short term fun for me. Tried to fall in love with it twice and lasted 3 months both times

The OP does not care in the least what your best 5 are, he just wanted you to visit his gold farming site.
