WAR is ready to ship!

Warhammer is finished.  All signs point to an Open Beta test for Collector's Edition Pre-orders on August 21st.  Headstart for CE owners look like it'll begin on the 18th of September with a worldwide general release on September 23rd.
Speaking to VG247 at Develop in Brighton today, Mythic’s Paul Barnett confirmed the news hundreds of thousands of pre-orderers will be thrilled to hear: Warhammer Online is finished and ready to ship.

“The game’s finished,” said the developer. “It’s just being polished and cooked.

“We’re in a position now where every day we get to polish it it polishes a little nicer. At some point you say, ‘That’s polished enough now. See you later.’”

Barnett wouldn’t be drawn on a specific release date, but said he would be comfortable if the game shipped now.

“We just won Game of the Show from IGN, G4 and GameSpy from E3 and they all said the same thing: they’ve never seen an MMO prior to launch that’s as polished and slick and ready to go as our game is. Our game looks great, feels great, plays great.

“Is it in a shippable state? Yeah, we could ship it now.”

Paul also gave us the longest answer to a single question we’ve ever heard. Hopefully we’ll get time to transcribe it later.
I think they will polish the polished game a bit more so the polishing looks more polished.

Well, in fairness, if they are willing to push a 500meg patch after the first install, they can ship it in any state they want.  As long as the manuals and artwork is complete, that's all they really need.  I would guess what they are trying to say is that they don't think there will be many more changes that can't be easily patched in.

Very true.  But I imagine that the only reason games are even released in boxes anymore is that the publishing agreement require it.  I suspect one of these days most MMO will be released completely online.

Lol, i'd have a field day if they shipped in the current state ^^

I can live without the CE edition. But I'll be another idiot in line to buy it at Best Buy.

If the game is finished, then drop the NDA.

They will, but the more polish they can get in before that happens the less troll food there is.

Looking at how they have pushed out information in the past, I'm quite certain they absolutely do not give a sh*t how the trolls will react. They are confident enough about their product that even though there will be some rough edges (beta graphics, bugs, balance, etc.), they will probably drop their NDA anyway. As long as the game is good and  the release is succesful, people will flock to the game anyway, even months after release.

I can't find anywhere that Paul said this statement other than the blog link posted. This post is a bit fishy.

Fanbois will however lose their platter alltogether once they lose their NDA snacks "It's still Beta" "They're placeholders" "The game isn't out yet!" "I'm sure they'll still change it"

    :)

    :)

Geez, Pheace, you are a bitter man.   If you don't like the game then fine, don't like it.  Coming here to incite arguements is not needed.  As a person in the beta and most definitly not a a fanboi I can tell you that I only have 2 minor issues with the game.  I can't give you specifics due to the NDA but I can tell you that they are minor and one is schedualed to be changed anyway.

Until the game is released neither your, or the fanbois', arguements have legs as it's not released and we are shown info and images from builds that are months old.  Even those in the beta (like myself) are playing a build that is 1 version behind what the guys in the Mythic offices are looking at, so even we don't know the whole story.

So chill, and if you are in the beta PM me and we'll meet up ingame.
