    Is it out now then?

Reading most of those predictions made me laugh so hard that my sides hurt.

  • natuxatunatuxatu Member UncommonPosts: 1,364

Yeah I find it funny as well. All I can really say is:

    So what?

What people think as far as numbers hardly means anything if anything at all.

It's not time yet =) if you all are incapable of counting then I'll help you. The game has launched for around 6 months which is half of a year. Wait 6 more months before posting here again.

    Haha, come on.

All of us thought it has some kind skillcap back then. We didn't know it would be a level based game with a heavy grind. This game is for the niche of the niche gamers. I'm amazed it has 15 k.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread a year later. It's hilarious what people estimated.

The crappy launch of Vanguard is what many say was it's downfall.  Darkfall's launch was no better.  I don't see it expanding too much beyond the two servers it has.

People usually are wrong about how many sub numbers a game will have before it launches but that's no reason to necro up a post like this...

And it is nothing compared to Paul Barnetts claim that WAR would be bigger than Wow, that was way more optimistic.

They called us trolls, they called us haters,

To angry teens this game caters.

Not a shout but a groan.

not a legacy, but a joke they own.

A broken down FPS with a fantasy skin,

we knew it'd fail, where to begin?

    The graphics, the lies,

or mighty Tasos we so despise?

To be fair we knew it would fail,

developed with lies at the pace of a snail.

So lets sit back and have a laugh,

at this necro post, and the fanbois gaffe.

    Holy crap dude, that's *great*!!

Funny, these expected subscription numbers were totally unrealistic. Unlike WAR and AoC, Darkfall never even had the potential.

My only hope was that Darkfall would be a nice playable sandbox, but with all the reported hacking and cheating I won't even dare to try it, if I could ...

p.s. Can I actually buy and play the game already? Or is there still some sort of "queue" ?

OK, that was worth the laughs. You, sir, are funny!

@CyberWiz: No queues, AFAIK. Wishful thinking, eh?

I wonder if it was the age handicap or simply if he took something before typing that the total number of % is 125...

Also by those numbers more then half expected it to achieve 250.000 subscribers in a year and thats with an extremly niched and quite flawed game.

Why not just report this game a scam and send it in to "Penn and tellers Bullshit" maybe they can expalin to the world why this game is shit and why you shouldnt buy it, unless of course you are a Tasos fanatic then your only option is to seek professional help.

Is this delusional, wishful thinking or just extreme optimism, with expectations so unrealistically high about Darkfalls subscription numbers let alone its features, content and game play, how can the developers possibility deliver.
Only 10% of the community actually have a somewhat realistic expectation of around 50,000 for such a niche title with such limited market appeal which apparently might even only be distributed in Europe alone for launch.
I want this game to launch this year and be everything the developers have promised it will be, but even if it does and it’s a relative success, to think it would have over 150,000 subscribers let alone over 250,00 or even 750,000 is patently ridiculous for anyone with even a general knowledge of the industry.
This sort of thing really demonstrates the mentality of the average Darkfall supporter in my opinion, and probably helps to explain some of the behavior exhibited on this forum as well as many others.

That^^ is the most hilarious thread I've read in a long time.  Some expexrt trolls in that thread... and alot of suckers believing them.

It's more than obvious that thread was a good undercover troll session...    to think Darkfall will ever have 30k users is laughable, but 250k.. omfg, hilarious!

That thread is epic..  i'm printing it out right now!

Maybe he counted the 750k prediction on the 250k prediction also and respectively in the 150k ?

I mean when some1 says it will be over 750k its like also saying it will be over 250k and 150k.Thats the only way i can see it to being accurate and have a total of 125%.Still that means that 40% said it will have under 150k and 60% said over 150k of which 60%,40% said it will be over 250k and of which 40%,25% said over 750k.

But most propably its just a fail.

I loved this post. Runescape fans will migrate? Blizzard buying out Adventurine because all WoW players will migrate to DFO? This is truly the EPIC FAIL prediction of all time.

"I believe, in contrary to what most people think, that DFO will get 750k in about a year and a half. Mainly because (you're all going to hate me) all of the true Runescape fans will migrate, along with WoW. Soon, WoW might try to buy out Adventurine. I believe this is going to be the top MMO for a looooooong time." - c town down

If you wanna have a good and REAL poll about how good Darkfall is its kinda ignorant to just ask the Darkfall Community and the fanbois it spawns. That would be the same as to ask Nike who they think make the best sports wear...

Interestingly enough, a lot of the 'haters' were also overestimating the game's population after release.

Really sad and pathetic to see all the desperate no life troll haters still resurrecting year old posts full of all their walls of text about nothing crazy conspiracy theories and failed predictions when they have allready been proven wrong time and time and time again.

Darkfall is only just getting started and already has a tight knit and rapidly growing community of thousands of dedicated players, since the awesome new expansion and the hugely successful US launch the game has only gone from strength to strength and is widely predicted by many industry experts to be this years sleeper hit.

Great things are in stall for this wonderful and unique game that's only just leapt from the starting block, Just like another indy developer CCP and their comparable smash hit title Eve Online, Aventurine are starting slowly with Darkfall and building on strong foundations and wont repeat the same mistakes and failures of the past made by so many less competent company's.

Despite the naysaying and ignorant complaining of the tiny vocal minority of disgruntled themepark enthusiasts and PvE fans Darkfall is thriving and expanding rapidly, the future is bright and the sky's the limit for this incredible next generation revolutionary title that's only just got started.

Expect subscribers to smash threw the 50k mark in the next few weeks or days and grow ever increasingly way past 100k in a few months, I think its safe to say based on all the evidence so far that Darkfall will almost definitely be challenging Eve Online for its leader of the niece market by the end of the year.

All this makes the prediction of 750,000 peak subscribers from a year ago start to look very conservative and perhaps a little to cautious, indeed 1 million subscribers sometime next year could even be a possibility if this level of growth and interest continues unabated.

R.I.P Troll haters, Darkfall is alive and kicking!
