and freedom of assembly? erm, its an online game so I don't see how this applies.

cause technically it is an assembly of people gathering for a social function......
Freedom of assembly only applies to government intervention. Private entities can deny any sort of assembly they please, I.E. shopping malls wallmarts resturants and video games.
but picketing, strikes, and boycotts are legal.......so far as they do not impose upon an individuals rights.
Yes, but a private entity doesn't have to allow it on their property. you can picket and protest outside of someones property, but not on it if they don't want you to.

Online games are private property. Therefore, have no freedom of assembly or free speech, which only applies to a public forum. This is why you can't walk into Wal-Mart to start a demonstration. You'd quickly be arrested. Not much of a discussion.

I think if a company allows Religious Guilds and whatnot but doesn't allow GLBT (friendly) Guilds, that's discrimination. If I'm not mistaken even if its a private company, discrimination is against the law if you are providing a paid service for everyone and not just a select few.

It's always a bit of a gray area, and is one of the most difficult things to bring to court because it's difficult to prove their intentions.

Ok but this assumption is going to be totally out of thin air but lets say this
the ratio of gay people is roughly 1/100 (in most cases this is what i have seen in personal experience)
that means roughly 100,000 players are gay in WoW
and even if the ratio is 1/200
that means 50,000 players are.
50,000 x 15$ = 750k per month
i don't think any game is willing to lose that.
and thats not counting friends/others who are against their decision

There is no need to advertise a GLBT friendly guild in a game. For the most part, people who play MMOs are accepting of everyone. There is no need for specific GLBT guilds or GLBT friendly guilds. If you join a guild and tell people you're gay and they ridicule you...leave. But really that topic shouldn't come up unless it's asked of that person. Someone going around screaming IM GAY IM GAY or IM STRAIGHT IM STRAIGHT is annoying.
There was a gay dude in my old WoW guild, he was funny as hell. He wasn't uber sensitive about us still using the term "fag" and "gay" to describe things and such, and didn't care when we called him it jokingly. Hell, he even used it against us. He'd even make gay sexual remarks, but it was funny as hell.
To simply put it...there's no need for these type of guilds or advertising of them. Get in where you fit in, and most of the time people don't care whether you like cocks or vaginas, but whether you've got a sense of humor, personality, and other characteristics that mesh with theirs.

What about those that want to create a specific GLBT Guild or Religious Guild?
So what I understand from you, any kind of guild that touches sociopolitical subjects shouldn't be allowed? If that's the case, I agree!
The best way to take care of discrimination or anyone being uncomfortable with a specific guild that touches a sociopolitical subject is to BAN ALL OF THEM and keep the game clean.

Honestly...I'm not thrilled about either of them. I'll support McCain, but only because I see him as the lesser evil. Obama just can't decide what he wants to do...and we need stability in the White House. If the President is shakey...the rest of the country and our armed forces will feel it. He'll be alright until we can find a true conservative that will actually decrease the amount of government and won't give tax breaks to the rich. They shouldn't even be basing the taxes on the amount of money you make. It should be based on how much you SPEND. Anyway.../rant over
