It will compete heavily I think with US/EU numbers but this game won't attract the Asian player base which is fine. If the reason most people stay with WoW is the PvE they may want to try WAR. I hear the PvE and PQ are pretty damn fun. I don't see how it's hard to implement PvE in the first place..it's more or less the same in any game. The problem is WoW is A LOT of peopels first MMO and that is hard to break away from. I went through the same thing with UO and didn't play EQ or AC, then eventually tried DAoC.
you think this will be the WoW Pwner once and for all????
I hope it doesnt, and I hope you dont play it. Stick to WoW.
No baddies but I dont play WoW.... and I am not thinking on going Warhammer....
I just want to see the end of the WoW effect, kinda tiresome hearing WoW over here and over there...
. . . you do realize you just contributed to the "WoW effect" that you supposedly want to see the end of when you started this tread on the Warhammer forums?
Let me guess... in general warhammer isnt going anywhere.... WoW is going to stay on top... unless you like pvp a lot then you can pick up warhammer for a walk...

Listen, I like to look at it more as you have much more freedom in WAR. It still has restrictions, such as levels and stats, but you aren't forced to PvE or PvP (only). You can do both. Now because of this, WAR can't be the king of both PvE and PvP...it would take years and years to develop and get just right. Because they trademarked RvR and it's their thing, they focus on the PvP more - but it's not the only thing there. While the PvE content may not be as good as some other games, it's better than many games. This means that it's still there! Why would you ignore it just because it's not super-hardcore?
On paper, WAR has two very important things - choice and motivation. No matter what you do you're helping your realm, which means you might do an extra quest that normally you'd skip. But you also have a choice to do a scenario instead, if you want to PvP instead of PvE - that's your choice. I hope WAR truly delivers these two things (I believe it will) because if so, many people will like it.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
War has meaningful, goal oriented PvP. WoW has not.
WoW is a gear grind fest, War is not.
WoW has better raiding, better gear rewards, which would become obselete in the next patch, War is not like this.
So I say, War > WoW if you love PvP. If you are a pure PvE dude, stick to WoW.

It doesn't matter in the slightest. The only thing that will "kill" WoW is time. As the expansions come over the next few years, the sub numbers will slowly decline. It's what happened to EQ and other successful MMOs. BTW, the amount of people spouting off their opinions as fact in this thread is amusing. You don't like WoW or you don't like WAR. That's all well and good as you are entitled to your opinion. However just because that is case doesn't mean "everyone", "people", or "all MMO players" agree with you.

How many gamers have only ONE game in their collection? Why can't there be more then ONE good game?
World of Warcraft will slowly die with time, but it will remain a part of peoples collections for a long time to come.
If you only play Warhammer for the next couple years, you will burn out on Warhammer like everything else. Will that make Warhammer a bad game then? No. It was still a good game, you just played the fun out of it.
Shouldn't matter to anyone anyways. Warhammer will rise or fall on its own merits. Whether or not its better then WoW is only a topic to cause arguments.

whats that got to do with anything, did mythic have the backing of EA for daoc, no.
Everquest was a boring raid raid raid game, daoc was a far better game..who cares what the numbers say. led zeppelin are better than the beatles but the beatles have sold more albums.
I don't really think one single game will come to be the ultimate WoW killer. Ovbiously, WoW is getting old now and people are getting bored with the game and looking for something new, but a lot of the time people just return because they can't find anything better. Plus, people are hesitant to let go of their achievements in WoW. I don't see another great game that just sucks in the subscriptions like WoW happening any time in the near future, so what's probably going to happen is people will spread out to other games over the next few years, their friends will follow, and WoW's subscription base will slowly start to dwindle. That's what has been happening, and that's what is going to continue to happen. Sorry to disappoint.

It's a big world. There's room for WAR and WoW and lots of other games.
Move along, nothing to see here.

just to make the story shorter.... Warhammer is more PvP than WoW... even more PvP than Guild Wars?
War is fun starting from level 1. WoW is not.
