I think it will do what's promised. But i for one am not overly hyped about it
But since it resembles wow in many ways my friends are gonna grab it so i might aswell.

I'm really curious if it can give me the feeling I had when playing daoc (my first)
But since there's not much info out there I'm wondering about that too
DaoC, EQ II, WoW (closed beta), CoH, CoV (closed beta), EvE, Lotro (closed beta)
Of course it is over hyped, just watch how many people come back after release and start bashing it. People are expecting too much from a genre that is not being changed much at all. (dont get me wrong i love mmo's and wish i could find one to immerse myself in for a a couple of hours a day)
It happened to AoC big time because everyone hyped the shit out of it and then..oh i wont even go into it, im sure you have read posts about it.
There is too much speculation, too many people saying "its going to be great i KNOW it!" or for instance today someone posted "do you think the combat will be too slow" when all they have seen is videos. Its people like this that are just hoping to get burned. I am not ripping on any of you, just that ur easily setting yourselves up for dissapointment if anything goes wrong or something you thought would be in it wasnt. I will most likely try WAR a month or so after release and im certainly not saying it will be a bad game as i love warhammer board games and figurines, just dont set yourselves up and then come back with hate and anger about it if you get dissapointed by this game.

Dont get your damn hopes up, expect mediocre and you'll not get disappointed.
Hype is there exactly to get the hopes and expectations up sky high and get as many people as possible interested to ensure investments income. It has nothing to do with truth.
Warhammer is not for everyone, and most wont like what they'll experience. You'll see.
I just wait to see the roar of forumtrolls coming down from their mountains in numbers in the end of next month, its gonna be huge roar I tell you

I will never trust any mmo company after all the funcom lies
, but we can always hope that Mythic will change that trend 
I'm more worried about the massive people logging in and make the world server crash ( or anything like that). And then the people start whining and say the customer servive is fail because every1 who just tried logging in, is sending bloody petitions because of that.
I just hope WAR will make the difference.

i dont think so, its very hard to get stuff to work when it comes to massive connections at the same time(DDOS attack
?). If they get many subs, then we all should know that the servers are going to die pretty fast 
I remeber WoW at launch in europe
3 million ppl wanted to login at the same time 
everything just went down 
And the servers was very unstable for a while after that. I think we can expect that we cant play as we want the first 24-36H

ppl dont understant they get mad, its like that everywhere. I have ppl calling me every hour and act like AoC forum flamers if one of their mail is delayed 10 min on the mailserver. Dosent matter how much i explain, they just ignore, and do what they know best in certain situations. Yell like hell =D
Hype is created by telling stuff about the game.
People then get excited so get hyped because of that info.
Everything that mythic has said has come true. Everything they told us has been placed in the game, except for the cities and the classes.
How can a game be overhyped? Aoc was overhyped, they told us stuff that wasn't true... which means overhyped.
How can something be overhyped if everything is in the game that they said would be?
if you know how mmo's work in a technical way then you should know what to expect from all of this stuff. If you hear city siege and you imagine 3000 people on your screen... then maybe you are overhyping cause that is on a technical standpoint not even possible (yet).
I don't see this game much hyped after the cuts. Just one month before release I'd expect more threads about it in general forums.
Poor stability at launch doesn't bug me in a mmorpg, I pretty much expect it. It is just so hard to get stability perfect without long term mass testing. Missing features and poor design like AOC is what bothers me, not worried about those things in WAR.
How do you know that the stuff Mythic said is in the game AND working ? AoC told everyone that the stuff was in the game, some was but diddent work at all(cities, seige etc).
I really hope that Mythic know what they are doing. And will give us all a awsome game
i would be really happy. But i will see when i hit cap and start to play the endgame

Wait a second so you are saying 20 classes isn't enough for an mmo? I am not saying 20 classes like most mmo but in this mmo these classes ARE really different from each other.
And the 2 cities isn't enough either ? these cities have a HUGE content list. and the other 4 cities will come after launch.
So basicly you think the game sux now even though it has more classes then wow and alot more differentation then everquest.
And the 2 cities have ALOT more content than ALL the cities of wow combined.
to be honest i am more hyped cause of the cut cause now they have had the time to upgrade the current classes with better animations and stuff. And didn't had to waste time anymore on the other 4 classes now that they have been cut. And the cities is the same deal. More content cause of NOT wasting time on the other 4 cities.
It may also depend on where your expectations lie. IF the PVP sucks and you are a PVPer then you will find a massive dissapointment but what if you are not a PVP person. Are the parts of PVE that you are looking for what you would like? What part of the hype are you looking at?
With the fanbois really hyping this, are you setting up for a major let down? There was a lot of Hype that AoC would be a WOW killer, a guy at work said he was leaving WOW for AoC. 2 Weeks later he is back on WOW. Hype is a 2 edge sword, it gets the word out but also sets it self up to fail if people do not get what they expected.
Best to go in with a cool head and open mind.
The funny fact is I knew aoc was bulshit. If you looked at the movies they showed you could see most of it was not done or not even close. If you do some decent research you would have seen that. But people rather have faith and believe what other people say about a game.
And then around release they were show casing the game. The only thing I saw was the character creation and a bit of the starting zone ???? Why do you think they didn't show the rest of the game?
