I'm impressed so far. Enjoying the gameplay, the UI, the general pace of the game and the community as well. PW has nice graphics and even the music is tolerable if not enjoyable. The game has it's own particular flavor and is clearly intended to bring people together to achieve their goals yet offers plenty to do solo.
There is a certain grind element, but, it doesn't feel like an interminable, unrewarding time waster that makes a career out of a simple game. I love the fact that I CAN'T do anything successfully while AFK! Unlike games such as Voyage Century Online where you can literally go from noob to top rank with no more effort than what it takes to buy scrolls and passes from the IM (only the smallest of exaggeration) Perfect World is a "hands-on" game that actually requires my input and attention to play. As far as there being no "nearest target button"... I don't care! The game is quite nice to play despite the lack of a few little conveniences and after a short time playing you won't even miss them.
I'll be there for OB and no doubt for the full release as well. It's been awhile since an FTP game has come out and actually put a smile on my face.
Wow...give a review that isnt "best game ever" and you say i hate the game and should go play another game? So much for trying a game and reviewing it.... My intention wasnt to enrage the fanbois, only to give my thoughts on the game..hence this threads title of "your thoughts" of course my thoughts get picked apart about why they are incorrect thoughts, then told to go play a diffrent game because i dont like it enough...gotta love fanboi rage.. So why dont you guys drop your thoughts here (about the actual game not about what others thoughts are) then move on and start a fanboi thread where you cant pick apart what others think..that is if its not positive... Honestly...yeah i dont think this game is anything special..im going to most likely play it untill cb ends then move on...But hey its just my opinion...no need to cry about it. so post your thoughts about the game here, so others can read it without having to look at flames related to what i think or others think about the game, and can just see peoples opinions on how the game is.
You should have named this thread, Your thoughs.... and i'll tell you what annoys the crap out of me. I'm not a fanboi as you call it, i just hate whinners. You ask people for their thought and then tell them you don't like it. You have said nothing positive so far, just a bunch of complaining about what you don't like.
You asked for my thoughts:
1) Don't CB any games anymore, and if you do please tell me which ones so i can avoid your whinning.
2)If you don't like the core game, great, don't play it, i don't want to hear about it.
3)When you ask for peoples thoughts, give more constructive discussion. I don't want to post my thoughts just to hear you rant about my opinions.
Good day to you sir.
I meant your thoughts on the game, i think i can speak for everyone when i say, no one here cares what you think of me. Dont tell me that i should be more constructive...seriously if you didnt want to hear others thoughts about the game unless they were 100% positve then mabey this forum isnt for you. Try the PWI game forums, or another thread here.
I stick by what i stated before, the game has some pointless oddities involving controls and how quests are shown, not really game breaking just kinda annoying. The WASD movement paired with point to click really bothers me too, the whole point to WASD is that you can click on your mob without missing it and ending up moving on top of it. At least add a tab select for nearest mob. Also the game is starting to get super grindy, im only 30 and its starting to get pretty bad. Ive noticed the quests have started to come farther apart. Of course there are repeatable quests, which is ok, only that they never give exp or sp as a reward. I also wish that there where less mage buff skills and much much more attack skills. I was kinda hoping that the skill tree would branch out more depending on what element i chose, mabey i missed that quest though.
I think the grind is whats really going to kill this game for me, ive tried rolling a ranger and a beastmaster, both seem interesting but i cant bear to regrind 30levels at this time, also ive never been a huge fan of animal characters.
I'm playing OB right now and yeah, it's been a grind to to even get to level 13 on my Barbarian. A lot of it is walking around for a while, and another chunk is looking/waiting for sandstone/ore/etc to spawn in order to get mats to level up crafting. I suppose I wouldn't call it a 'grind', I suppose 'slow' is a better word. It applies to combat as well, but I think that has more to do with my class. There are a ton of bots, like really, a ton of them; it's difficult to kill quest mobs when there are 5 bots in an area clearing them out. Another thing is the AH and the lack of a search function, and also the price you pay to put in an item is excessive (500 for a low level weapon which goes for 1000. if it increases as you level up...well, I won't use the AH much then) Also another thing is that 1 out of 5 people speak English, so yeah, the world is pretty much silent, even local chat (still haven't been able to get a group yet either, I mean, I doubt everyone I see around me is a bot)
The graphics look nice, at least if you turn on 'soften' (makes it look like LotRO). Otherwise there are lots of jaggies, even with everything else turned on and maxed. That's okay though, there is almost zero lag and everything runs smoothly.
At any rate, I sort of like the game. There are a few annoying details that were mentioned previously in other posts, but it's worth it to play it for a bit. It's certainly better than most F2P games, although I doubt any casual player will ever get to a high level, and despite not being casual myself, I doubt I will either in the OB. I know it's a grind later on and you're pretty much forced to pay for the game at some point, as in exp cash shop items in order to level up at a sane rate, but eh, it's a fun distraction (at least until the crap hits the fan and everything turns all Korean) But yeah, it's free so why not
Oh and yeah, character creation is great. I made a winged elf with huge tits and a small body. Pretty hilarious
