I would like to know all about character creation/customization. (especially regarding elves) Specific questions: Are there sliders for body heigth, muscle tone and such?very limited customization at character creation..no sliders...all presets Can you pick different faces and or adjust them with sliders? pick preset faces Can you pick different hair styles and hair colours? yes...again..presets Can you pick different starter outfits? no..starter outfits are based on class and gender
More general: Exactly how far does character customization go? at character creation..not much...but as you progress you get different tropies, dyes, etc to customize your look Will everyone end up looking the same again? not sure...but there was a wide contrast in beta
Can you pick a surename? no
Thank you !
However, you can dye just about everything that Ive seen, so you wont look exactly like the next guy, even if you have the same gear. As a matter of fact, i have noticed that gear has two parts or sections, so I think you can choose a main dye and the trim.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
1. How are tanks overpowered? (Mainly only needing the Order side) Only one i ran into is the warrior priest...but they can be countered with chosen debuffs and taunts...fairly well balanced otherwise 2. Keep sieges, about how many people does it take to take one down? Well we spent 1 hour trying to break into a keep in beta....was fun...and we did finally manage to break in before i had to log 3. Guild structure? Like it? Love it? Hate it? Love it, lots of tools for guilds and alliances 4. Average time to get to level cap for casual player? pretty quick....on your regular levels..reknown levels will take alot longer 5. How hard to get from one racial starter zone to another? Dwarf player playing with Human friend? easy...just travel a bit to a war camp and fly to another battlefront...easy peasy Thanks!
1. How are tanks overpowered? (Mainly only needing the Order side) 2. Keep sieges, about how many people does it take to take one down? 3. Guild structure? Like it? Love it? Hate it? 4. 1. Tanks are hard to kill when they are geared and your not. 3 tanks and 3 healers.... can take a REALLY long time to kill, but not over powered imo. The main thing seems to be people like me and my guild who know about the pvp gear, get full templated at level 8 and are extremely hard to kill by people who arent. So, OP is a misconseption.
2. Could take one with six people if no one defends it... but would take a bit. Just like DAOC.
3. Guild system is badass... extremely indepth. Alliances, standards, ranks, taxation... badass! Everything I had hoped the AoC guild system was....
4. I cant talk about my high toons as they are still NDA'ed but I can tell you 1 - 12 is about 4 hours...12 - 20 maybe another 6 if your intensly grinding out quests. If you rvr and scenario and do the rvr quests... you will be at 20 in a week or two tops casyually.
5. Extremely easy. Just run to the newbie area RvR zone and ride the flight master to the other areas.
1. How are tanks overpowered? (Mainly only needing the Order side) 2. Keep sieges, about how many people does it take to take one down? 3. Guild structure? Like it? Love it? Hate it? 4. Havnt played a tank personally so I cant say if their OP or not.
I only participated in 1 siege since I started but from what I experienced Id say there was about 50 ppl on each side defending and attacking and we broke in but I got there when the door was open so I cant say how tough the door was.
Lvling in this is a bit different then usual. As theyve said, You can gain exp basically everything you do. You could goto a lower tier RvR area and get regular exp just from fighting the opposite faction AND renown. So if you wanted to you could start at lvl 3 and goto an RvR zone and fight and get exp. Ive gotten 4 lvls so far just off RvRing and its great so it all depends. Of course PvE I think exp will go quicker cause of quests an stuff but you can get exp with basically everything you do.
Getting from 1 starter zone to the next is extremely easy. Each Race has their own zone and in that zone is a War camp that has a flight NPC who takes you to the other areas. Its that easy.
These Public Quests sound completely innovative and unique to WAR, like nothing I've ever heard of or imagined before. That they're also well-executed, fun, quick and rewarding (according to you testers) is a very good sign.
public quests are very innovative, but it is also the way they utilize them in the entire game that makes them so great. The Dungeons are all open dungeons with only 2 instances, one for destro and one for order. The boss encounters in the dungeons are PQ's and are multistaged. So you could be hanging out in a dungeon and see some people need help with that PQ boss and just jump in and help out and possibly win some loot. The last boss of each wing however is a personal six man instance just to give everyone an equal shot.
oh and to Kazzars zoning question. There is no load screen inbetween neighboring zones such as T1 Empire Versus Chaos. The transition is seamless with a very slight hitch when you cross the border. However there is load screens whenever you goto different tiers or to other warfronts via flight master. There is of course zoning when you enter scenarios or any other form of instance.
How big is an area, say the starting area could I run from one end to the other in a few mins?
how about the map, how vast is the order side?
what about travel? I read about a green skin once who gets thrown a large distance, is that a form of travel? mabye that just a "story" dunno but id like to know if anyone seen that kind of thing.
Here is my reply from another thread on this since I am sure not everyone is watching both threads....
Remember...these are just MY experiences, some others might be different.
Finally! I can speak! This guy is spot on, the game is just boring as hell.
The animations look terrible, the entire game just feels soooo slow (especially combat and the damn global cooldown)
The missions aren't anything new (go kill 10 fairies)
The scenarios are essentially battlegrounds (sorry guys...they are boring too......here are 2 points, get control of both of them for a few seconds and you get points, get enough points and you win)
I do like the public quest system
The buildings all look exactly the same even across factions. Same floor layout, same quest essentially different objects to get.
At level 20, I was killing an even level mob and I swear I had 2 full spell bars of spells and I felt as though I needed to use each spell twice to actually kill something. (This was with a mage no less!)
Did I mention the animations are terrible?
I could go on for hours but I just couldn't get into this game in the slightest.
how is zoning is it like WoW, u dont zone when u enter a new land, and only load when u enter instances? Is there alot of armor and weapons out there, so u dont run around and everyone have the same on? how ealy do u get mounts in the game? can u buy cloths just for the looks? can u sell stuff to other players, like a AH? was wondering, can u sell almoste everything u loot? in wow almoste all good loot in none tradeable, and swg u could trade almoste everything
ty for ut time to answer this :-)
Each race area really doesnt have zones from what Ive experienced so far. I havnt ran any instances yet but you can run trhoughout your starting area to the higher areas without zoning. Only time you really zone is if your going to a different races area or of course going into an instance. Those are atleast what Ive experience.
There's a good amount of gear and it all looks fantastic. I gotta tip my cap to the artwork team Mythic has. Gear looks great and Ive only gotten the lvl 10 renown gear.
There IS an Auction house yet.
As for clothing just for looks im not sure, Havnt bothered.
You can sell basically everything you loot except for Quest items of course.
1. How are tanks overpowered? (Mainly only needing the Order side) Tanks are not really overpowered. They are easily dispatched with a few melee classes on them. However, if the tanks have a good healer or two behind them they are almost indestructible. 2. Keep sieges, about how many people does it take to take one down? Greatly depends on the resistance that the opposing sides put up. If there is no opposition it could easily be taken by a couple well organized groups. 3. Guild structure? Like it? Love it? Hate it? Didn't really mess with much of the guild structuring but this one is hard to mess up. 4. Average time to get to level cap for casual player? A Casual player myself I made it to twenty easily in one week. After that I am unsure. 5. How hard to get from one racial starter zone to another? Dwarf player playing with Human friend? This is quite easy actually. You can run to the nearest warcamp (usually a 10 minute walk) take the flight master to the whatever warcamp in whatever pairing and walk another 10 minutes to their starting ground. 6. Trophies easily aquired? Look cool? I didn't find that many trophies during my time of testing. What I did find were all pretty small and hard to see if not closely inspected. Thanks!
Hope this helps.

when you enter a RvR zone, you get a warning, and can turn around and leave before the timer and not get flagged, the rest of the zoning ive seen is pretty seamless, you see a blue portal thingy and run into it and poof, your are zoned. kinda like runing into the night elf city from those docks in WoW (sorry for that reference, im not a big WoW player)

There are loading screens when you cross teir zone lines, also loading screens when you load an instance. Buildings are mostly everything else is all seamless Is there alot of armor and weapons out there, so u dont run around and everyone have the same on? Weapons and armor also work on a tier system. Each tier the look and design of the armor changes. how ealy do u get mounts in the game? Mounts are attained at rank 20 for 30 gold. can u buy cloths just for the looks? No. can u sell stuff to other players, like a AH? Auctioneers are in game. I am not sure if they are usable or not. was wondering, can u sell almoste everything u loot? in wow almoste all good loot in none tradeable, and swg u could trade almoste everything Yes, almost all loot is sellable. Can someone explain how a public quest works? is it fun? are there a lot of those?
Public quests are basically areas were a quest happens with objectives. LEts say you walk near a house, all of a sudden a quest icon appears with your objective, to say kill 50 heretics. You kill the heretics, then you need to kill 10 of the heretic leaders, and finally the head heretic.
The mobs get tougher as you go along, and the more you damage / heal = the greater influence contribution. Once the objective is completed there is a roll for the top 10 or so people who contributed to the PQ. 1 -1000.
Your roll is added to your influence.
So if you make 100 influence, and roll an 800 your final score is 900.
The top 3 - 4 get to loot.
Only thing I dont like about this system, you can be #1 in contribution, but get no items....other than that its a lot of fun
Yeah I get loot more often when I am 5-8 in contribution then when I am 1-3.
Havent had time to play my SM much is there sword and sheild as good as black orc and chosen?
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

It's big I can't say in minutes. But the zones are all fairly large and well detailed with streams mountians bridges buildings warcamps and questgivers and PQ's.
the map is the same for both sides, you just can't go to the other side because they are your enemies, you'l be slaughtered.
No, long distance travel is by flightmaster. It's quick and painless.
I freaking love slaughtering Order by the dozens in Reikland in open field 200 on 200 RVR. It's the most epic thing since DAOC.
I didnt like lag, and glitches. I think we helped fix a lot of those.
my only beef with thi s game so far is crafting....only 2 professions really for crafting (3 if you count cultivation..which is kind of a mix)...hopefully, as mythic stated, they will be adding more crafting in the near future

First of all magus need some love right now. And they are not a class for everyone. Short range stationary pet damage. I had no problems with the animations. Had to use all your skills to kill something even level at level 20? This class is not the easiest class to play well.

Alundre does have a few good points. Buildings of the same faction do have very similar layouts just decorated differently. Some of the character animations are stiff and need some refining but this can be tweaked over time. I found that "time to kill" NPCs was very short especially based on DPS classes. With a sorceress it took two spells to kill a mob of equal level. Scenarios are based on a capture the flag type combat sense, but to me this is not where the PvP shines. You need to spend time in the RvR lakes for the true RvR to come to fruition.

Another question, sorry if it's already been asked and answered.
When do you get a mount and how do you obtain it?
If it's just a matter of buying it, is it the case again that you'll never get the money in time? (like in to many mmorpg's)
Does the mount get upgrades, if so how ?
Thank you!
