The hype has come through. With the NDA lifted, people will begin to understand.
This game IS the messiah MMORPG players have been waiting for. We sat though years of utter garbage, and now have something worth the wait. This game is full of content, lacking in bugs, and bursting at the seams with fun. PvErs and PvPers can both find a home here. The new, experimental MMORPG elements were a success. Public quests blew away all expectations, RvR is diverse and integrated into the universe flawlessly. Performance is phenominal in high traffic areas even on a older PC. It all came through.
Congrats, Mythic, you did it.

You'll forgive an old MMO vet if he isn't convinced after reading the same posts from beta players in every MMO I've been involved with.
....We'll see.
Sad is the day i see a purepwnage follower praising a game thats not original and much less innovative. Im almost embarrased to associate my self with purepwnage anymore!
So to be a great game you have to do everything completely differently than all MMOs before it? This game does what is advertised, is fun, is not bug riddled and IS the game everyone has been hoping for. If you were looking forward to WAR even a little bit, you will not be dissapointed in the least.

What mmo do you think is original???? Because your wrong every mmo apart from the first one ever in existence is not original.
All a game company can do is make a game that works is fun and add onto it thats it. If you think you could make a new and original MMORPG better then any other company out there then lets see it.

I agree with the OP.

Osbourne Cox: I know very well what you represent. You represent the idiocy of today.
Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.
Osbourne Cox: You are part of a league of morons. Oh, yes. You see you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. But guess what. Today, I win.
You are back again Sab? Don't you ever get bored? Seriously, you call the WAR posters here fanbois in some of your other posts but exactly what game are you referring WAR as a clone to? If its WoW, you should know that WoW copied some of the best elements from DAOC and EQ to create a solid game. WAR has taken the next step. We already made the point last night that a game doesn't have to be some super innovation in order to be successful. Quit beating a dead horse! WAR has added new elements, as discussed before, to an already successful formula for an MMO. I agree that something new should be created as far as that goes, but saying a game is a failure because it offers many of the features already found in an MMO is pure tripe.
I made the point about RTS games already but I'll say it again. How many C&C and Warcraft RTS clones have we seen? Yet we keep buying them. Recently, Sins of a Solar Empire broke out with some new features in a common recipe for an RTS. Guess what? It's a fantastic game. How is that a failure? AoC was a failure due to being a poorly made game. Tabula Rasa was the same. LoTRO is semi-successful and has a loyal following, but nothing huge (and is even more WoW-like than WAR - the interface is a straight clone). I'm just not sure what your point is? In a few weeks when the game starts flying off the shelves and your que times in WoW get higher are you still going to complain here?

The last few games to hit the market have actually been cookie cutter in atleast one way.......they've all been bug ridden unfinished pieces of trash. So, Warhammer Online will have at least broken that mold considering how polished it already is.
Oh true purepwnage know they are VERY political and BASH MMO companies even more so the over paid ones that deliver sub par products, they even go as far as having a LOVE / HATE relationship with WOW.
So its EXTREMELY COMICAL that someone using an UBER MICRO avatar is praising WAR knowing they fall under the over paid MMO company catagory!
You do realize that uber micro is a very very old gaming term from RTS games right? It didn't originate from purepwnage.
I could sit with you and have a conversation about all the cool things they could do to make a better MMO. I'm sure you would know exactly what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, most suits aren't listening. You already know how I feel about WoW, I won't bore you again with it, but in all honesty many of the things you are saying here were said about WoW before it was released, believe it or not. Many EQ and DAOC fans rallied and complained about it being a copy and many Blizzard fans defended the game and explained all of the new additions to a tired recipe they were going to bring in.
Even Blizzard's own developers told people that the game was made for the casual gamer from the ground up before it was released. This turned out to be false! The game is still very successful, we all know that it will be around for many years to come, and yet there is plenty of room in the market for another competitor, even one that is similar. I'm not pointing the finger at you Sab, but it seems to me many WoW fans are threatened by the release of this game, mostly due to the fact that their precious que times to earn the next piece of e-peena gear will be longer making them wait longer. From the videos alone you can see WAR is in a completely different state for release than AoC or Vanguard was. I played both the aforementioned MMOs in beta and they were just plain awful (the performance was so bad and the bugs so frequent I had trouble even testing things).
There is no denying the upcoming success of this game. The only thing we can do now is see HOW successful the game is and how well EA and Mythic can keep up with the demand it will put on their infrastructure and developers. Blizzard is second to none on their record, but I always felt Mythic did a fine job with DAOC and am willing to place 3 orders to find out.

I agree with the OP and so does my 40+ player guild that is coming, Waaagh!

...I'm in your panties
I do play CB, my point from me to you is the avatar icon your using, you have no clue what it means to have it or where it originated from. You completely contradicted your self in making this thread with that avatar.
My point from me to you, if you do not know what purepwnage is, please do not use the uber micro without knowing what it stands for.
Its like you walking with a T-Shirt that says 'kick me' and not understand why people kicked you!
I got into the closed beta and played for a quarter of the time it took me to download and that was enough for me to realize that this game isn't for me. I am not bashing this game by any means. I do want to point out some things that others may fail to.
These things would be graphics are poor...maybe they'll get an update before launch? Quests are the usual repetitive thing maybe we haven't seen it all yet as this is still officially closed beta. It didn't make me feel like I had to log in and play.......sorry but thats my opinion.
In the end if you like World of Warcraft you will probably like this game, but if you don't like cartoon characters and a simplistic game mechanic than you'll probably not like it.
Maybe there will be major changes before launch ....who knows? I am dissappointed though as I had been waiting for a year and a half for this game. I am now waiting for the next game claiming to be different.
I'm not quite sure how anyone could come to that conclusion from only a day or hours played. Seeing that you didn't like WoW, it does sort of make sense, considering this subject matter is what WoW used for all their designs. Still, I don't like games with graphics like Vanguard. I love the over-stylized characters like WoW and Warhammer offers. I like the WAR versions more (loved the DAOC characters too), because they look meaner - the WoW characters all look like Disney versions of Warhammer characters.
ColdSun
Even as someone who's looking forward to WAR, gushing fanboy posts like this are simultaneously annoying and embarrassing. Jesus Christ, dude.
If you want a real harsh death penalty, go play Russian Roulet. - Hamzal
Maybe he is just that excited - why is his opinion worth any less than people who don't like the game?
ColdSun
Coldsun, your probably right....I like realistic graphics and to me the more complicated the game the better. Your also right when you stated that I probably didn't like WoW....I don't ....not even a little. I think as far as the graphics go your hit the nail on the head....some like stylistic and some like realistic....as far as the time played......I just couldn't get into it.....and I totally believe the graphics and feeling I got from them was a big factor.
Thanks for pointing that out.
war IS fun

yeah I'm playing
Best MMO in a long time and will be mt home for awhile.
My pleasure, there is no reason why fans of different games need to hate eachother. After all, we are all MMO gamers.
ColdSun
lmfao (no, really)
Exactly. They can innovate all they want, but if the game discs are only good for use as coasters, it didn't make a damned bit of difference.
Besides which, WAR seems to boast quite a few totally innovative features.

don't be a blind fanboi, crafting is pointless and probably the worst out of any mmo. Character creation is very restrictive and 90% of your class will look just like you.
There are some really well done points, the more you play the more you realise it was pushed out the door pronto... and thats a shame.
Sorry, this smacks of utter fanboi. I'm sure the game is fun...but come on.

while i agree with the customization of characters at creation..the rest i disagree with. It feels very polished, not felt rushed at all. And as for the crafting, while it is simplistic, and i wish there were more...talismans and potions are very important to classes which cannot heal themselves in the beginning.

Been playing it for 8 months and havent gotten that impression yet. Maybe I need to play for a few years before I hit the point of tikovoo approved jaded gamer I guess. I also think it is the best mmo in a long time but, given the mmos we have had lately that isn't necessarily saying much.
Crafting and character creation are limited, I agree, but I don't see how they exactly make or break a game. If that were true, AoC wouldn't have been a complete piece of trash that it was.
Ultimately though, its only some minor systems that seem to have any problems (crafting being one of them), I think if there was anything they could chose to be at the bottom of the task list, that one probably should have been it.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
I wish there were better customization options too, but that's hard to implement early on, and WAR's still going to have more visual variety than Guild Wars and probably also World of Warcraft.
And Lineage II.
And FFXI.
End EQ2.
Honestly, City of Heroes is the only MMORPG in existence with truly diverse character customization option.
