i find that hard to beleive if you dont realize that the entire issue was one of economics ... WHY did they(japan) need to expand in the first place... What did the treaty cause to happen in germany ... damn
They Don't teach this stuff in Public schools because the Liberal teachers Know it throws their Entire way of thinking in to Chaos. Sad really.
Good thing I don't go to a public school.

I know all the causes of World War Two. However, I'm starting to think that the reason you two are stalling and not saying what you are referring to is because you don't actually have a legitimate relevant reason, you just throw out statements like "This caused a world war!" and hope no one will notice how irrelevant it is.
In Germany there was lack of work, crazy inflation, and not being allowed a military. The first two were two major problems with the economy which led to tons of poverty, the stuff that we are trying to avoid with spreading a little bit of money around our country.
If you guys want to legitimately debate then please, state your point instead of just screwing around. I'm listening.

Yes, but how is using taxes to help the poor at all related to the economic issues that led to World War Two?
because if you look at the other questions in that post that you decided to ignore, you will see that todays tax plans are similar to the same plans that led the US into the great depression in the 1st place. The same mindset , same reasoning , not same word for word but same overall goal , make those with more pay for those with less. being successful was considered to be evil ( in alot of cases then it was actually so this beleif at that ytime was founded in some truth)
What actually happened :
the rich were taxed more , they stopped spending , the middle class in its entirety disappeared .. the ONLY was out was the war.
We made the Europeans suffer because no one wanted to step up and say being rich was not so bad.
that about sums it up , it is shameful but in the end that is the only logical conclusion i could come up with , pride. Not wanting to face the reality that being having a rich class is the only thing that allows you to have a middle class ,and here we go again doing it a second time ...
We are travelling down a road already travelled once in World History and no one wants to remember what it lead to because this time they "know" better. or want you to believe that.
Now -
using taxes to help the poor isnt the issue (it never was) , how about jump on board the stop WASTING existing dollars ( which by the way are more than they need or you would never get a refund, you get a refund because they got too much). Raising taxes does not help the economy( it never has) , improper spending does more harm than good , and thats congress's job to spend money. elect a congressman who wont spend 4 billion to build a bridge to nowhere in Alaska at the same time they cut veteran benefits and education benefits.
SO may people have been brainwashed into blaming the president for stuff he cant even do its pathetic , no wonder the world thinks we are stupid at fault. In reality come election day , who you vote for for the local school board will have more direct impact on your life than president. Congress will continue to waste the money the way it always it has( why should they change you dont even beleive they are a problem, yet) , you wil contiunue to blame the guy who cant do anything but beg ( president) and nothing will change because lo and behold its not even the presidents job function to budget national funds.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Okay. Lets take your advice. As I have stated before, the biggest waste of American tax dollars is Iraq. We have no business being there, we are making no progress, yet we are spending 15,000,000,000 a month. No other thing that congress is spending money on even compares to this waste of money. However, I'm assuming you wouldn't like it if we came back home, would you? So, as long as people want to keep supporting this "war" we are going to have to make up the money that those that need it are not getting, by taxing those that can afford it. I've given you some very solid numbers about how much money these 2,000,000 a year+ these people will have even after paying a third of their income in taxes. over 1.7 million a year. How greedy can people get?

Inflation is caused by when the currency decreases in value. This is caused by lack of exporting, pretty much when there is no money coming in. So, to get rid of this issue we should abolish all the big corporations that get their goods from China/Taiwan/Indonesia etc. and require that the factories are here so that we can export and get some money back into America. And what did I say about screwing around?
------------------------------ "Capitalism is currently working as intended."
I beleive you're wrong here , we arent wasting any current tax dollars, we are borrowing against future dollars. so all we ARE wasting that increse you want.
Raising the taxes wont help in this situation because we already spent it , so it wont be there to fund any programs for the poor.

We will have to pay off the debt. This will be siphoned from the taxes. Therefore, we have to make up for that by increasing taxes. It's really funny how every time there is a republican president we get into this same mess, except then eight years later people tend to forget what shambles they left us in.
Anyways, I have yet to hear from you what you think we should do. What is your plan to get us out of the mess we are in?

Yes and this IS THE POINT THAT HE IS TRYING TO MAKE!!!
IF you Charge the Wealthy to Pay for EVERYTHING like you want to they will Stop Spending and Boom the Econamy is gana Die. The Middleclass CAN NOT exist with out the rich spending money, the Middle class Dosn't work with out the rich. The entire system crumbles with out the rich. Its allways about greed. the ENTIRE system is built on it. Sad fact but a FACT nuntheless.
And as far as the war goes Dont know if you looked lately but we are winning and finaly Beginning to pull out. Yes its a Massive sink on the Econamy. But it has allso Helped aLOT of people (Like my friend who went to Iraq as a contractor and made over 100k) the Money is Being paid in large part To Americans who are then spending it. Yes there are crooks in the system. Yes they need to be fixed. And Yes I Hope the War is over soon.
All that said If Congress hadent Butcherd the Milatary to the point that they had to use Private contractors to Do A lot of jobs that the milatary Used to do the war wouldent be costing as mutch as it is. And Part of that Cost is BECAUSE we want our troops to be protected and safe. If we had used WW2 thinking then there would be 100 times the dead, the war would be over and we woulda Really been the badguys. So as Mutch as I HATE the war. Im glad if Im gana hafta pay for the damn thing then Im glad that the money im spending is Saveing American and Iraqie(Sp?) lives.
And if you dident want us in it Id talk to your Liberal friends in Congress that also Voted to go to war ofer the WMD that they thought were there because the Intelagance agensies all told us they were there. Were we Wrong? Depends on who you ask. Fact is tho No Proof has been shown to the Public Aside from the yellowcake.

so if rich people don't spend any money to create a business that can help the economy , because of taxes , or because there isnt a rich person left , or because you are held down by the rest of the world (the cause is irrelevant) the economy will stagnate, like in germany in 1930's. So lets create that situation again because why? that is the original question. you circled right back to it and failed to see that inflation , no jobs available, are all caused by people NOT spending money. this tax plan is designed to make rich people NOT spend money , if you take 40% of their income they wont spend as much because they dont have it and why work so hard when you can just sit back and earn measly interest and pay less taxes yet still be well off?
Does it help the world more when i have approx 500 employees around the world ,paying them, paying taxes , they pay taxes , and we all buy things creating more jobs and business, or does it help more that im scared im going to lose it so i park it all in a bank earning 1% interest and still live comfortably? And dont start a business.
No ,dont abolish companies ,you want to make it beneficial to start a company, get more companies around making more products ,that means selling more things , hiring more people, spending more money .. not punsh them for doing well , who in the world would start something with the end goal being being that IF you do well we are gonna take it away from you.
The answer isnt tax more , its use taxes wisely and only elect people who will and stop wasting what they do have. if the govt was a busniess they would all be in prison. for the things that we hate companies like enron , exxonmobil , JP Morgan/Chase for doing. You spit on enron for doing it , yet you embrace a politician who does and is telling you in advance they are going to do it.

you laugh at republicans ,while admitting that this current tax wont do anything for the poor , because democrats already spent it , so if you now admit that this tax wont do anything it is suppsoed to do , can you see that Obama cant deliver his promise already and you admit it , why are you still supporting it?
On the other foot - If obama came out and said this tax is 100% going to pay off national debt and nothing else ,and it was worded that way with zero exemptions and couldnt be spend any other way it went right to debt reduction , id be all over it shouting obama's name form my ass trying to get people to vote for him.
and please look at the taxes actually paid by citizens under republicans vs democrats you will be suprised with the real numbers. ( dont use wiki) use the CBO they have history there.

andeemann10 , even if we never agree on this , or dont even see it that same way , i must add you have handeled yourself with great poise and asked good questions and raised vaild counterpoints.
no matter how this turns out , you have my respect , not once did you go childish or insulting ( you even softly chided me for being a smartas ,which i was , so it was deserved) and always spoke with conviction.
hard not to repsect a person who stands tall when questioned.

Want a plan that will work? Then follow the advice of Libertarians and Ron Paul.
Scrap the federal income tax program all together. Do away with the IRS. Get rid of all spending by the Federal government that doesn't cover when we are at War, Highway system, international trade, production of money, National Parks, Postal Service.
Scrap the Departments of Education, Homeland Security, Defense, etc etc.
There should be a Department of Treasury with a Gold standard on our money. (not a semi-private entity like hte Federal Reserve is)
There should be a Postal Department. Department of Parks, Department of Transportation, and a WAR Department.
Recall all of our troops that are stationed overseas. Place them back under the control of the States. Place Medicare/Medicaid/Healthcare under the control of the States. Do away with Social Security all together.
Lets make people have personal responsbility again. If you can't fix it then go to your family, if they can't help then your neighbors, if they won't help then your community (Churches or local charities), if they aren't able to then local government (City or County), and let it stop where it was always intended by our forefathers to stop and that is at the State level.
We wouldn't be in this gigantic mess if we had headed the words and goals of our founding fathers. They wanted strong state governments with a weak central government covering very few things. They wanted us to stay away from international affairs and long term alliances.
So yes we can fix it but neither a normal Republican and definitely not a Democrat can fix it. The two worst Presidents in History for destroying how our government is supposed to run are also two of the highest rated Presidents in history. They get high marks because they were in office during Wars. Those two Presidents are Lincoln and FDR. Lincoln for the things he did to win the war and FDR for his horrible new deal program. FDR especially since he made people dependent on the Government without actually solving any problems. To this day we have people thinking that FDR's programs were a good thing. Yet the vast majority of this programs were ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court and they didn't solve the Great Depression (WW2 did).

In general tax revenues increase with an increase in GDP and expenditures fall because of the decrease in unemployment and welfare cost so, all else being unchanged, the deficit will decrease , and the decrease will be bigger than the revenue increase. (i.e. tax goes up, deficit goes down)
certain facts about the United States national debt stand out:
1. Since the Neo-Conservative movement has become the dominant force in the Republican Party the national debt has grown and continues to grow at an unsustainable rate, by any measure you care to use.
2. Experience has shown that “trickle down tax cuts” only work to concentrate the nation’s wealth into fewer hands and never help to rebound the economy.
3. Mr. Bush has no viable plan to deal with the debt he has already created, and we cannot count on him to contain government spending in the future. (Perhaps the new Congress will help him here.)
4. The only time we have seen national debt reduction in the past 60 years was when Democrats were totally in charge of our government or when one party was in the White House and another ran Congress.
5. In the past 60 years when Republicans were in control of the presidency and both Houses of Congress, government spending was never reduced. The last time a Republican Congress reduced the national debt was in 1947, under Truman’s leadership.
6. The last time the debt was reduced was in 1961 during President Kennedy’s first year in office. It has been almost a half century, 46 years, since this nation has paid down any of its exponentially increasing debt. (Had President Bill Clinton been in office one more year we would probably have seen a debt decrease in 2001.)
Relatively recent history tells us that there is a simple solution to the growing debt problem: Congress must adhere to a ‘pay as you go’ rule regardless of the party in control. Unfortunately it requires a President like Bill Clinton, who was truly committed to balancing the budget, to lead the Congress, regardless of the party in charge, to do the right thing for the future of the nation.
Fortunately our nation is fundamentally strong and it has always had the strength to overcome bad presidents and their failed economic and foreign policies. Our economy can and will endure the downward vortex of this misguided Neo-Conservative trend as well. However, for the sake of our nation, our jobs, ours and our children’s future let us all hope that we see an end to the dominance of the short sighted, Middle Class-killing, Neo-Conservative economic polices soon.
its embarrassing that so many Republicans are still in denial that their party has continually stood for one position yet when elected done the exact opposite. The last three Republicans have all ran office in deficits, not one single "small government conservative" has ran a surplus at least once
We will have to pay off the debt. This will be siphoned from the taxes. Therefore, we have to make up for that by increasing taxes. 15,000,000,000, a month spent on war by republicans
wasting away the value of our dollar by creating huge deficits.. killing my social security/retirement plan because republicans are known to raise the deficit.
somehow, I *KNOW* Obama (and his government programs - you can't go anywhere without hearing about these "awful wastes of time" - sarcasm) when mixed with his employment generating-welfare cost decreasing-tax plan, will cause less national deficit (or more revenue) than the Neo-Conservatives plan.
Of course, this is all hypothetical because we don't know for sure until Obama is elected president but Im basing my answer off of recent trends (see my above posts)
15,000,000,000, a month spent on war by republicans
and democrates. Last time I check, a LOT of democrates voted for the war. This isn't just a republican thing. Also, the democrates has control of the house now....not the republicans.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

things will change once we have a democrat as commander-in-chief.
Love is the answer, and you know that for sure.
War is over if you want it.
I don't believe in killing, whatever the reason.

instead of another television set,
then there'd be peace.
If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal.

If you believe this you don't understand the beast that is humanity.
As far as Obama winning time will tell. If Obama wins I'm not expecting much. Going from one extreme to the next isn't a step in the right direction to me. If McCain wins I'm not expecting much change either.
To bad no good moderate or independent that actually cares about the American people isn't running.

actually WW2 created something that fixed it not socialism. Disposable income, many familes had years of income they earned during WW2 and didnt spend it until it was over. the move towards socialism started the deopression , as those with the ability left and stopped spending.
Revisionist History much?
Firstoff, the Great Depression was not caused by Socialism, unless you wish to believe that Republican Presidents Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929) and Herbert Hoover (1929-1933) were Socialists. If you believe that, read no further, as there is no mental help available for you here. If you don't believe that the Republican Party was the Party of Socialism in the 1920s, then either the Depression was caused by bank failures as a result of speculative "margin" stock loans, or it was all Bill Clinton's fault. You pick.
Second, disposible income saved from the WW 2 days did not lead to American economic prosperity. When the US servicemen returned home from the war, unemployment was high until they could be re-absorbed back into the economy. It was the jobs that were created rebuilding the manufacturing capabilities of those countries with destroyed industrial base that created the jobs. Basically, Italy, Germany, Japan, and to a degree France had to buy even the tooling to make the tooling from the only industrialized nation in the world which was capable of meeting their demand. Everyone bought American. In short, the American economy grew by laps and bounds, and the capital of the world accumulated here.
Third, WW 2 was caused by a short sighted post WW 1 policy that focused on punishing Germany economically. At the end of WW 2 this mistake was not repeated, the Marshall Plan to rebuild the German and Japanese industry created jobs, a stable government in both countries, and resulted in trading PARTNERS, not a master-slave colonial type economic relationship. Today this mutual trading partnership has created such an integration of the US-German, and US-Japanese economy that we are deeply allied, not looking to go to war with each other over scarce resources.
Now, on to the tax plans.....
Neither candidate's tax plan addresses the basic need for an economic change. Both attempt to use taxes for public policy, a use that tax policy does poorly. What is needed is an economic plan to grow the American economy and integrate the Chinese market with the American market in a partnership that mutually benefits each partner. Similiar to the US-German and US-Japanese integration under the Marshall Plan.
Arguements against universal health care (along the lines of Federal Employee Health Benefits System) make an assumption that capital is finite, that is, payment must come from someone. These arguements ignore the fact that capital is infinite, it can be created by creating new markets which then become new customers. In short, you grow the economic pie by allowing more people to share a piece. These people then become consumers.
I noted in this thread some type of historical reference to the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire fell when it stagnated, stopped expending. As long as Rome expanded, they also expanded economically, and created new markets and new consumers for everyone in the empire. In short, Rome always had enough money for roads, bridges, legions, aquaducts, colliseums, games, pagents, parades, etc so long as their economy expanded. Once it stagnated, it was in trouble. In short, once they stopped allowing more people into the economic pie they collapsed.
My point is to address economic problems by adopting economic plans to grow the economy, not trying to do so thru tax plans. Tax plans should reflect raising revenue to operate the government, not tinkering with a variety of social and economic problems.

I beleive you're wrong here , we arent wasting any current tax dollars, we are borrowing against future dollars. so all we ARE wasting that increse you want.
Raising the taxes wont help in this situation because we already spent it , so it wont be there to fund any programs for the poor.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

On the other foot - If obama came out and said this tax is 100% going to pay off national debt and nothing else ,and it was worded that way with zero exemptions and couldnt be spend any other way it went right to debt reduction , id be all over it shouting obama's name form my ass trying to get people to vote for him.

Flat tax for the win!
The last three Republicans have all ran office in deficits, not one single "small government conservative" has ran a surplus at least once

that's another way to look at it. no wonder there is an constant argument when there is only 2 choices (in this sense).

Neither candidate appears willing to do that.
