Fact: Everythng the OP says is denied by about all forums on the web. So we are all liars I suppose. Talking of a conspiracy. Poor poor Warhammer. Those mean lying people out there. Just INVENTING those things of long downtime combat abilities, those lacking crowd control combat, those non destructable keeps, those CTD that don't occur. Those dungeons that are beautiful playable... If you can say it has the best professions since EQ2, well who is the biggest liar then ?
1) The longest combat skill I had was on a 1 minute timer (and it was a moral skill, and it full healed anyone), everything else is quick (except for the global 2s cooldown).
2) Lack of CC means you are a liar. YOU ARE A LIAR. You didn't get high enough to even get the low level CC and you didn't bother reading the skills you get later.
3) Did you get to lvl 40 and sac the enemy city to try those dungeons? No? Funny. Hrm. Also, its a pvp game, you want grindugeons, go play WoW.
4) EQ2 crafting is a joke. Its a 2d flash game stuck inside of an MMO.
It s easy to have this happen when you have millions of WOW fans worried they re going to lose customers. WAR is a good game stop disecting it to death. For a beta it was pretty damn good, bugs sure, CTD sure but that happens in every game. As a MMO player you should know this. If you don t like WAR leave and play whatever you like. Not sure why people are so dead set on picking apart games that are in BETA.

Probably because one of the major reasons for an "open beta" is to have the public experince the game play. I don't understand why people are dead set in defending a game with the mantra "it's beta" when most of the concerns discussed are design issues that aren't going to change.
"It's only Beta" is the battle cry for those people completely in denil about the realities of game design/publishing. The consistant use of the phrase "it's in beta" is in fact the only thing I really need to know that a game is going to be crap. (not that this is the case with WAR)
Ulberon, the more you post the more you make me feel as if WAR is going to be my kind of game. Closed my EVE accounts and playing WOW (although being anoyed by the retards there) till WAR goes live.
"Boring" is a personal point of view. So if lots of people are saying it's boring then you just have to accept that's it's boring to a lot of people.
No, "boring" can (and in this case probably should) be replaced by "I couldn't be arsed to find out or put in effort, I hate putting in effort and not having my ADHD needs be taken care of instantly".

I ll agree and disagree. Yes it s meant for people to see the product, but it s also there to see if problems arise and fix them. Comparing a game a few weeks away from release( imo is in damn good shape) to a game thats been out for years, dpesn t make sense. Anyone that plays MMOs should know things happen, AOC bad no but things do happen.

What part of "ONE" of the major reasons was confusing for you? Also, open beta is more about stress testing/performanc issues then bug finding. Most (notice I said most not all) of the bug finding should of been done in beta (as in before open beta)
Who was comparing a WAR with another game that had been released?
I'm going to start with this: For the trolls, I don't know what game is going to make you happy, evidently absolutely nothing, but stop lying to make your point.
Lie: PVP is slow, fights are slow and boring. Fact: The first time in a scenario, it'll be like your prom night all over again. Fast, shameful, and you'll never be quite sure what happened. Real Fact: PvP is slow depending on the class you play. Skirmishes running back and forth whenever hurt makes it certain that very few deaths will happen when you stay in the pack. The only way pvp ends up being fast is when you have a bunch of higher lvl toons smacking the lower lvl ones.
Slow isnt a bad thing, but its certainly not fast. You can find a battle easily but actually killing players that are in a group with their healers is slow as hell. Lie: PVP is a zerg fest. Fact: For scenarios, its the same as playing AB in WoW. You have feints, defense, offense, basic strategy. Keep the people off the healers, etc. etc. It's WARhammer, you take the point by smashing people into the ground. Real Fact: RvR pvp is a zerg fest. 30-100 players vs another 30-100 players in a zone war means that you have two large groups that play tug a war back and forth until one side pushes the other out of the zone. Its based on 100ft ranged pvp and the rare melee type (usually healer melee) running into the zerg to take down a few before either dying or running back to get healed again.
Senarios are battle grounds, with a limit of 16 players its hard to get a zerg going, but zerg play is common. Blizt the opponent and stay in a group, then it becomes the same exact thing but on a smaller scale. Solo play or small groups dont do as well if not in a zerg.
Dont kid yourself into thinking its different. Finally, some pvp zones are good for finding some small group or 1 on 1 combat, but they are rare.
One last bit of truth for ya.... this is only preview weekend with a very limited amount of players playing it. Imagine what it will be like at launch when you have over 500k players filling up the servers... more players = bigger zerg. If PW is what its like with a few numbers, think of the large influx of players all starting at the same time.
Lie: Crafting is boring and stuiped. Fact: This is probably the most well thought out crafting system to date. EQ2 is not well thought out, don't cite it, EQ2 turns crafting into a mini-game. Warhammer makes crafting an art, you FIND the ingredients, there are no recipes. You have control over the final product, not just the quality. Real Fact: Crafting becomes a literal loot fest. Loot once, and then loot twice. It is not very in depth at all, but it is interesting. The most thought out crafting system to date is not found in WAR. WAR is a pvp game, not a role players crafting fantasy, though they do a decent job at letting crafting exist.
The only reason to gather and craft is to help make more money to buy the next tier of renown gear, i smell WoW rank grinding coming on. The more renown, the better gear. Thus its no different than WoW's pvp point system, though thats not a bad thing since well...pvp is fun, usually. Lie: It's full of bugs. Fact: AI pathing is bad. That was the only bug I found. If you make a statement like the former, you better back it up with examples and possibly a screen shot, or go back to your cave. Real Fact: Yeah there are a lot of bugs, however they are not game breaking bugs. Most are graphical or client crashing to a minor level. A few memory leaks here and there, some tweaking needs to be done to allow better performance for the large scale pvp. NPCs get there health back or dont attack half the time.
It could be worse, but given the state of this beta its not bad, but dont kid yourself...there are bugs everywhere, but they are minor issues easily resolved. Lie: Public quests are zerg fests. Fact: I'm tired of the "zerg fest" arguement, I think the people who claim this lack situational awareness and can't see what is supposed to happen. It clearly states the objects for the public quest at any given stage. Opening day could be described as "Frenzied" as everyone and their mother was trying to do the n00b zone. By Sunday, (when the trolls that got to level 3 decided the game stunk and left), public quests became more organized, forming warbands (raids) to complete them. The only reason it felt frenzied Friday and Saturday was due to it being preview weekend. Opening day will be the same way, I don't know why you fail to grasp that. Real Fact: Yeah, some of the most mainstream PQ's are zerg fest. Everyone wants the INF points, the only way they can get it is by zerging whatever mob gives it to them. Now you have 100 players all trying to do the same thing, then running over to where the bosses spawn and do the same thing. You get in a shot or two but when everyone wants INF points and the loot, good luck. The way the items work in this game, players are pretty much funneled into PQs, until later when they buy everything based on renown.
LIke i said earlier. If PW with its small numbers was like this, imagine how much zergy it will get upon launch with more and more players rushing into the game all at the same time. Learn to think, accept reality.
The farther you get into the game, the less players want to play the PQ's, at this point it turns into farming the easy mobs for the basic INF points but never really competing the PQ since you need a large zerg in order to finish it in time.
In my opinion the PQ system is broken. Why? because its static. Static doesnt work when the number of participants is a random variable. Thus, the PQ system needs to change its requirements based on the number of players in the zone for each stage.
Example: 10 players, then you only need to kill 5 champion npcs that spawn. 30 players participating? then you need to kill 15 champion npcs that spawn. Make sense? Further more, the more players participate, the more loot needs to be given out, as well as less loot for fewer players. Under 10 players? then only 1 loot bag. 30-40 players then 6-9 loot bags...ect
So as of now the static system doesnt work well with the fluxuating number of players. People get bored when they cannot really contribute to the battle. Further more its easy for players to afk level in PQs. One guy tested it out and gained 8 levels and he was afk the whole time just by joining open groups and standing in a corner. Lie: X class is overpowered. Fact: I started as a chosen, and thought I was unstoppable and they were over powered. I then rolled a bright wizard, and thought they were over powered because I could drop anyone like third period french, so clearly bright wizards are overpowered. I then rolled a rune priest and was able to tank 3x chosen in tier 2 RVR gear, so clearly rune priests are over powered. I then rolled a white lion, and with the crit aura, anyone who ran from me was dead. Again, they must be over powered. Real Fact: Some classes ARE over powered depending on their mirrors and situation. Actually Over Powered is the wrong word... Inbalanced is the proper term. Some classes have distinct advantages over their counterparts. The BW has a better AOE and DoT, which they used way too often in RvR zergs. The Shadow Warrior puts out great dps and effects from range while their mirror blows hard compared to them. One side has a very clear advantage over the other in terms of ranged combat, and because of this, its clear that there in some balancing tweaks that need to be made.
This is normal for every mmorpg. If you were to look at it as Rock Paper Scissor, some classes are all three rolled into one and can take on many other classes, where as some classes can only really effectively take on 1, or none at all by themselves. Conclusion: WAR isnt perfect. It provides another angle on the typical mmorpg with a pvp focus we are all used to. The way things stand, and given the flood of players at launch, the game will be about zergs and ranged combat within those tugawar zerg battles. Groups pvp will find its home in senarios in which PUGs will lose to the guild and groups that join them. It will be a WoW bg bitchfest all over again because of this. PQ's wont be played as much the higher tier you get. End game players will just either pvp in the zones zergs or just spend time in senarios. The rare city sieges will be nice, but after awhile it will get very old until something new comes into play.
Overall it gives the pvp focus everyone wants but like everything else, it will probably get old fast. But, its better than nothing and mythic has so far shown its ability to be competent. However, we dont know the quality of their Live team, which might not be able to meet the demands post launch period as no doubt the original dev team will go on vacation not long after and begin on another expansion or project as any competent developer would. If you come up with any more lies, I'll be happy to dispel them. Likewise, but you can start by dispelling your own wayward "facts" and made up "lies".
Hmm this is very hard to believe. Almost everybody accepts that crafting is an afterthought in this game. How can it be so good as being qualified as an art? Dosent' make any sense, and makes me wonder about the rest of the post.
He destroyed his whole post by referring to the wrong game. Crafting in EQ2 is actually well thought out.
He would have been better off comparing it towards Age of Conan or Tabula Rasa.
So in an essence, he became the troll himself with this very statement.
Have a nice day.
Absolute rubbish. Crafting in EQ2 is dumbed down tripe..
I really like the idea behind the crafting but the implementation isn't complete so hard to praise it.
I like the freedom of the combine system where as I get more skilled with an item I can change the components to make it better. I like that very few of the high end ingredients can be store bought so it is player economy based system. The system definitely has some promise but right now there is only one crafting skill and at release there will only be two, hard to praise two crafting skills.
I'll agree with you though that EQ2 crafting was overrated, they made it too easy and it was just a boring time sink and not something fun to me at all.
i guess i read the same a few months ago... in a aoc forum. we will see how good the game is, a few weeks after release.
No, you didn't.
AoC never lifted their NDA until the game went live, so you didn't see ANYTHING like what you are able to see in Warhammer forums.
The lid is lifted off 80% of this game, and it is there for all to comment on be it good or bad.
This game is light years ahead of AoC already, and it still has a few more weeks until release - AoC is into it's 3rd month of retail.
If you can't separate the wheat from the chaff, then forums like these are no good to you..
Not at all true. The NDA was still in effect for AOC only past level 20. The first 20 levels of the game that had been experienced was mostly spoused as a great innovative success. It wasn't until after release that AOC had become public enemy #1.
I'm not a troll, and normally I'm not so negative but I dont like the fact that the OP called a group of people liars, simply because they stated their own opinions and thoughts on the game. He thinks everything negative about the game is a flat out lie, which is bullcrap. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Thats like me telling the OP to stop lying because I think WAR sucks. Anyway.
I'm going to start with this: For the trolls, I don't know what game is going to make you happy, evidently absolutely nothing, but stop lying to make your point.

+5 for these replies. That sums up my own experience as a long-time (and long ago) WAR beta tester.
Apply lemon juice and candle flame here to reveal secret message.
Its all about a opinion. I think the combat is slow and boring *kuch* ( used to the TCoS combat system ) *kuch*. But a friend of mine really enjoys it.
Its all about opinions. WoW is in my eyes still the best MMORPG out there, but for only saying that here I will start a flame fest because of giving my opinion.
When do you learn you can't judge a opinion. You can only see if somebody knows all the facts, but in this case, if 2 people played the same game, but 1 likes, and 1 dislikes, there is no right or wrong.
So go play WAR and stop posting this crap. I rather read a stupid troll post, because they are funny.
Here you go again... this guy is out of his mind. We have played plenty of MMO's and been happy. This game just isn't very enjoyable.
PvP IS slow. Watch Youtube, the animations are slow and unresponsive, some abilities don't even have animations. The UI doesn't react very quickly and overall it feels clunky and bad.
It IS full of bugs. You obviously aren't in the elder beta test. However, these are fixable so I have never even brought up the problem.
This game is just average, and if anything, is just DAoC with a new skin. It's a niche game and unless they make drastic changes, many of us will be going back to WoW for WoTLK. Period. You are not god, your opinion does not outway everyone else, and you are more inexperienced than we are.

Funny you say he s not god and it s just his opinion , yet you do the exact same thing. Your opinion i don t agree with at all , his i more so do, because i like the game. Would i make a post and go on and on about it no, but do i like the game IMO for many of the reasons he said yes.

He hasn't tried cultivation or he'd know what boring is.
I'm not telling everyone to listen to me and make my opinion the most valuable, HE is. So I have no idea what grounds you have for saying I think I'm important. However, I am one of the few WAR veterans on these forums so I'd say some of my input is VERY valid. I have been waiting for WAR since early 2007 along with many friends. All of those friends had the chance to play during PW, CE preview or in closed beta like myself, and all were disappointed. The combat is last generation and doesn't support many people's style of gameplay, period.
I'm glad you like the game, but I have no idea how you can like it. But then again, some people play runescape and like it. So to me, everything in life is enjoyable, even self mutilation, so of course there are some people who like playing bad MMORPG's.

30-40 players then 6-9 loot bags...ect So as of now the static system doesnt work well with the fluxuating number of players.
This is as subjective as the OP's or anyone else's review.
Comments
Because it's MMORPG.COM ?
lol
so true
Hype is my nemesis. i will fight it til the day i die whether i take it down or it takes me down. So depressing, Yes?
"Boring" is a personal point of view. So if lots of people are saying it's boring then you just have to accept that's it's boring to a lot of people.
Ulberon, the more you post the more you make me feel as if WAR is going to be my kind of game. Closed my EVE accounts and playing WOW (although being anoyed by the retards there) till WAR goes live.

The OP makes an excellent post, which gives REASONS for his opinions then challenges the garbage all the fanboys spew.
He is not a 'whiner', but you sure as hell are a troll.
Shoo, back under your bridge..

Anyway.
Ah it's ok, don't underestimate yourself!
+5 for these replies. That sums up my own experience as a long-time (and long ago) WAR beta tester.
Apply lemon juice and candle flame here to reveal secret message.
I stopped reading after the first sentence.
Rabenwolf pwnd ulebron, while giving a very fair, thought out reveiw. enough said.
Hmm this is very hard to believe. Almost everybody accepts that crafting is an afterthought in this game. How can it be so good as being qualified as an art? Dosent' make any sense, and makes me wonder about the rest of the post.

'Facts' and 'lies' don't exist in your summation.
