It'll be nice to be back in a decent community where people will answer you're questions and try to help you.

The truth about the Warhammer community, from my own personal experience, is that people don't talk to each other... Almost not at all..... I've had so many tells completely ignored, even when i could see the guy I'm talking to is ATK for sure.
I just hope that this was the beta community, testing and finding out about the game and just being so wrapped up in that....
This is really my only reservation about this game so far, at least the only major thing.

Ugh, OP don't bitch and moan when you have no clue what you're talking about. PW did not have ANY twinks; the servers were brand new for the weekend. The gear they got was from Realm Rank gear -- ANYONE gets this gear VERY easily. All you have to do to get to RR6 is do about 5 scenarios visit a war camp and buy a whole suit of gear. it costs about 50S for a whole suit with full accessories. Tanks in RR6+ gear are generally considered over powered in T1 scenarios which is why you're crying 'OMG TWINKZ0RZ R OP!!'. Supposedly it levels out later on.
The RR6 gear is available right in the keep in Shadowlands, for example. It's not that expensive. You need to be Rank 10, Renown 6, to use it.
A tank with healers backing him up will be nearly unstoppable -- that is by design. Especially when you got the healers standing way back in safety and just casting heals constantly on him.
I was an Archmage during Preview Weekend and a healer-supported tank was able to go 1v3 and win if the others had no healing backup.
This is how it works and how all the classes work so nicely together.
Now, you put healers on the tanks, then the nukers are blasting the living crap outta anybody who is around the tank and the melee DPS guys go in and mow them down.

*edit* I'm derailing the topic here so no worries, maybe I was just unlucky in the people I tried to send tells to eh?
There were 5 of us hacking on this black orc and he wouldn't drop. He got some heals but with 5 attackers, he should've went down. He was a twink. If it wasn't for this twink, we would've won the scenario. In after thought, we should've just ignored him. He was wearing reknown armor that you can purchase at level 10, it roughly triples your effectiveness over pvp armor. They said that gear doesn't matter in WAR? Don't believe it, gear matters a lot. So what if he'll level out of the bracket due to pvp experience? He'll just be replaced by another twink tomorrow.
50% of the damage is absorbed by the shield alone....so yes the damage done is low...put some Witch Hunters on his back (Armor piercing backstab) and youll see a difference. As for letting the healers keep healing him is plain goofy. Something tells me you dont have a clue how true RvR works. WoW players just run and hack like mindless zombies.....

Yes, I agree completely.
Before the PW most people I encountered were more than helpful; the ones that answered anyhow. But when the PW started I had more quest items taken from me while I was killing the mob beside them, more spawns taken by instant attacks before I could hit, etc. Reminded me of old WOW times. Wah wah wah, I know; but it is rather irritating.
And the OP, do some research or learn a little about a game before you start posting stuff like this.

On average, I found most people to be friendly. Unless people make separate tabs for chatting, I found it easy to get overwhelmed by spam in the default chat and miss a few tells. Between selling things to the merchant (and depending on your pop up box locations), all the region talk, etc, it's easy to miss things. I think most veteran mmo players will first set up their keys and then immediately begin setting up their chat tabs. I learned long ago in EQ to turn off /ooc type chats upon entering the game. Unfortunately, Mythic hasn't given us that option.
There was a lack of chatting in scenerios most of the time (same as in closed beta), but hopefully that's just because people were busy trying to win. I also found that many people didn't read the entrance text that tells you to use /sc to chat in them. Otherwise, a lot of people I know were using Vent/Teamspeak to talk to friends for help and coordinating assaults.

No, it wasn't his shield, it was the level 10 twink gear he got from the reknown vendor.
My shammy got his level 10 reknown gear and his damage tripled. Gear has an amazing influence on the outcome of combat.

Absolute lies. RR6 gear also requires Rank 10 and the full set costs about 2g-2.5g, definitely not 50s. At any rate, the point he was trying to make is that you can't just jump into PvP and have fun, now people have to worry about getting farmed in Scenarios while trying to get to RR6 and get enough gear to not get steamrolled. IE, "twinking". The concept of twinks has nothing to do with getting gear you can't get, it's making sure you have the best possible gear in your bracket so people who are playing legitimately don't stand a chance. Sounds like he succeeded.
Im trying to understand this concept that working hard and earning one's gear is not a legitment form of play? Twinks usually don't work for their gear at all its given to them or paid for by high level toons. Its impossible to do that in a 2 to 3 day window span. If he paid for his gear by using a high level alt hand him the 3gold I could see the complaint. He had to earn the right to buy the gear and with only 2 to 3 days of play he had EARN th emoney himself with that particular toon.
If you only choose to play your toon one way and ignore healers you'll always suck even with the right gear.
Originally posted by banthis Im trying to understand this concept that working hard and earning one's gear is not a legitment form of play?
I think the point being made was not that this form of play isn't legitimate, but that the game shouldn't give such a massive advantage in combat based on gear.

Maybe you should reread the OPs posts he flat out said there was a Healer on him which automatically makes it damn near impossible to kill someone. They ignored the healer if they'd of taken out the healer the tank would of gone down hard.
Gear is not that Huge a factor. I played Scenarios starting at lvl 1 on through lvl 10 and only had a hard time if people were allowing the healers to Heal or just plain being stupid. I was able to easily take down Sorceress's, Marauders, and Chosen sometimes I even took down healers as a lvl 2 Witch Hunter as long as they were no more than 2 to 3 levels higher than me and that was with Noob white gear on. Tactical choices matter the most if you go after the wrong toon first you'll always have a hard time.
The OP admited his tactical mistake of not watching out for healers which in a scenario there most certaintly was atleast 2 to 3 of them probably there standing out of sight but with perfect view and range of the fight.
No, it wasn't his shield, it was the level 10 twink gear he got from the reknown vendor.
That isn't twink gear. You need to know what the word Twink means before throwing it out there like that. A lvl 19, 29, 39, 49, etc in WoW who has all purple and blue armor is a Twink. A player in eq2 who has all mastercrafted armor at 22, 32, 42, 52, 62, etc is twinked because they spent tons of gold to get it and usually has a main to afford the costs.
A player who hits lvl rvr rank 6 and goes and blows about 80 silver on a set of green armor is not a twink .... and its not even that hard to get it.
You just need to know where to get better armor.

heh, talk about your ironies. Your statement is a lie, my friend. Buying RR6 gear (including weapon and shield) costs me 97 Silver and 50 copper (or brass...whatever its called).
It certainly did not cost 2 gold; nowhere near it. Also, I had 3 gold without even trying by the time i got my gear. Its not that hard to get money.

So...let me get this straight...You're complaining about a player who earned their rank, did their quests for the gear and happened to use that to their advantage?
First off, it's retarded to try and kill a tank who had a healer and possibly potions. Heck, I kept my friend who was playing a chosen alive through an entire match and didn't die once. Either of us. Alot of people go straight for a tank, when they should be going for the healer who's spamming HoTs and heals on them. Tanks with a dedicated healer will always clobber people.
Next time, be aware of what's going on instead of just beating on someone.
The concept of twinks has nothing to do with getting gear you can't get, it's making sure you have the best possible gear in your bracket so people who are playing legitimately don't stand a chance. Sounds like he succeeded.
What the? Twinking has everything to do with getting gear you normally couldn't get on your own. I first heard it back in '99 when people were giving Yaks, Rubicite armor, FBSS, etc, to new characters.
In the situation described by the OP, he's playing in a bracket against people who can have a max level of 11 (and where stats are bumped up to level 8 if you're lower than that.) That tank worked for his levels and his gear and he dominated the scene because people chose to play the scenerio at lower levels and with poor tactics. Everyone was playing legitimately, they just weren't playing smart.
He mentioned later on that his shaman damage trippled when he leveled up and got the gear, so would he have been twinked at this point? No. My Ironbreaker gets taken down very fast by casters, even with the best armor available. That's the way it's supposed to work. Could I have complained that my tank got beat by a twink? Sure, but I'd look foolish.

The arguement that "anyone can get this equipment, he worked for this level.. blah blah blah.. "
Crap. In the end it will only be level 11 people in RR6 gear (well, i'ts getting fixed).. and that's not what the game is about.
This isn't WoW, you shouldn't have to PvE to participate in the RvR. That's the sellling point. In WoW, you have to go PvE to level up, then at the highest level for the tier, go PvP. That's stupid. In WAR, you START IN THE BATTLE. Not PvE, then head to RvR at the top bracket.
That's why I'm hoping they adjust the bump level to 11 instead of 8. That way even the level 1 can come in and use the two skills to an affect enough to kill the level 11 players (since they are all level 11 now.. anyways.. right?)
I'd like to see the only point in leveling up is for the abilites and not for the advantage it gives you in base stats.

I agree. I'd like to think the whole point of bumping players' levels was to make them all even on as many levels as possible. It's pretty pointless to bump their levels and then ignore the huge difference in stats.
