In my opinion Eve's fatal flaw is that it just takes too much time to become a viable participant. I've tried it around 7 times, lasting just under 2 weeks at the most. I guess it just isn't for me.

as opposed to wow... where you leveled to 70 and got decked out in "good" purples, in just under two weeks at the most, so that you could be a viable participant?

The hi-sec pirate corp I am in has several players that have started playing since the beginning of September. As far as I know, all of them have had kills already.
If you want to try another trial send me a pm and I'll tell you the name of my corp. I'm guessing you'll get enough experience under your belt by the end of your first weekend that you subscribe and continue your career as a pirate. We've got a great bunch of helpful and funloving people and there's always room for more.
