I hope the people that play it do enjoy it, but after the preview weekend (along with the above-mentioned reasons) this game just wasn't for me.  Questing seemed too linear to the point where after I finished quests in a tier I felt like I would never ever return to that tier for anything (just like a 'level' or 'stage' in some console game).  Also, the end-game seems like it will be lacking (not in content, but in mechanics).  The point of the game is to beat the other realm by going through a series of pvp tiers, but after you win it just resets.  If your side loses, you haven't really lost anything, and if your side wins, maybe you got a couple cool items.  Anyway, the point of this post, I guess, is that for people who were on the fence about this game, there are other options on the horizon.

Do you think a post like this really merits it's own post?

Honestly, don't waste our time making us read this when you were never interested enough in playing in the first place.

Is it an amazing coincidence how most people who are posting crap like this are BIG fans of Darkfall and AoC?? Or am I just seeing things??

Not every game is for every person, have with with Ryzom and Fallout 3 and TCoS.  And perahps Darkfall.

The tier aspect to this game and many other aspect makes it feel more boardgameish then virtual worldish.  But that's what I love about it, being a huge boardgamer myself.  But I can see this not being for everyone.

There is a big Darkfall revival going on right now.  There is a new announcement of a beta.  And Wikipedia no longer has the Vaporware rumor section for this game.

In the general forums here, there is actually a serious debate about Darkfall vs WAR.  And most people in that thread say Darkfall is better. Not could be better if it existed, but IS better. Really tells you something about people on this forum.

I don't think linear is the right term.  But certainly it is tiered.  No seems of feels about it.  Mythic has made it quite plain the game is teired.

The reason you were on the fence, is because you want some kind of "sandbox" game.  As evidenced by you liking Ryzom.

I dunno I don't think you were really on the fence.  Seems like wishful thinking to me.  Mythic has made it pretty clear they are not making a world simulation game like Eve or Ryzom.

I don't think WAR was ever a real option for you.

And that right there boys and girls is why this game want be as successful as you or Mythic thinks...

I like Mythic and I am not trolling.  Mark my words though, this game isn't going to offer enough different from what people are already playing to stick around.  The RvR is not going to be different enough to make the game stand out.  Yea, it will probably be better PvP than most games; but it want be enough by itself.

I don't know if Darkfall  will be better or worse, I don't even know if it will release at all. But I can tell you that the video made me realize how much I was forgiving and forgetting to play WAR. Made me remember I want a realistic looking game, not a Walt Disney pinball arcade. And I'm not talking about the quality of the graphics, I't talking about the particle and light effects, which in WAR seem to be designed to amaze the 5yo.

I think you're overlooking a lot of reasons people play MMOs and play new MMOs.

It's a chance to establish yourself in a new world from the beginning, carrying with you all the experience (for many) that you've gained from other games. Having learned from the mistakes you've made in the past and ready to make new ones.

I've played a lot of games and I think that I've found in Warhammer a game which I can call home. Only time will tell if that is the reality of it though.

There's no way this game is going to fail in the same way at (or shortly after) launch in the same way as Age of Conan and Vanguard to name a couple of well known examples.

For all of those that claim the NDA is truly lifted, www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/133770

Closed beta players are still under the NDA, so it's not fully lifted.  I'm not complaining about it.  But I am clearing up misconceptions that are being thrown about.

I think u are on of those guys who hates the winning team so u throw salt in the game and start hating. I dont even think u have ever even played the game. I think u are angry your friends are planning on playing WAR but u dont want to so u come to MMORPG and give out some haterade cause your friends arent drinking it. It is a possibility that i am wrong but not a probability. Take it easy

    how do you explain this?

    "Dear tikovoo,

You have been issued a warning by one of our moderators.

    Warning Category: NDA Violation

Reason: MMORPG.com does not permit users to post information on games still under an NDA. For more information about your specific game's NDA, please visit their official website. *This thread breaks the NDA as much of what is posted concerns closed beta which as a closed beta tester you agreed not to discuss private closed beta information. As we respect companies NDA's, this thread will be locked and deleted.*

This warning was generated from the following post on our discussion forum:

Thread: looks like the flaws lead onto fears of short term staying power - good read

So I am able to comment on my time with the game just not closed beta right? I have concerns with the game but aren't allowed to have an opinion here?

This is a bit confusing. The post by the mmorpg.com staff says something different than the statement on the official warhammer homepage... now whose word has more weight concerning the matter? ;)

Elder Testers are still fully under NDA, regular closed beta testers are not. Closed Beta testers can freely talk about their experiences with the game as well as post screenshots and videos. What more do you ask for?

  • Ender4Ender4 Member UncommonPosts: 2,247

Elder Testers who play on the test servers who are in charge of testing new changes coming into the game are under NDA still. This is true of every single MMORPG I've ever played. When WoW tests new content it is under NDA, when LOTRO tests new content it is under NDA, when Eve tests new content it is under NDA. This is such a non issue that the person who brought it up should be banned from posting since they obviously have a trollish agenda~.

I agree with you Ender we should ban everyone that trolls!  Whats a game without nay sayers though? We need them to criticize and give us there opinion because sometimes it ends up true but we just like to slap it away as if it does not exist and then complain later about it. (Exception with tikovoo she is just a really dumb troll.)

Let me see if I understood correctly.  You made an agreement and you broke it?  Or you arent a beta tester and you are lying when you say you are one?

Or you don't honor agreements or you lie.  In any case, you cant be trusted... so I wont trust anything you said.

You canceled your preorder?! Wow, that's the kind of insightful and hard-hitting information we need around here. You're truly blazing a new trail with your blunt honesty and courageous trolling. I truly hope more people with your character choose to cancel their preorders and never step foot into the world of Warhammer. It will be better for everyone involved. We need more people talking about how much they hate games in all gaming forums. Let this be the beginning of the end for fanbois and people that like to have fun and make up their own minds. Long live the gaming forum trolls!

Methinks the OP doesn't really understand how leveling and endgame work in Warhammer. I won't go into more detail because I really don't care about him leaving but just read that last paragraph again. Anywayz who gives a ff? Time will tell.

If you have your doubts then wait a bit till the game matures. WoW gathered the vast majority of its playerbase well after the release. I see no reason why anyone should buy a game he isn't 100% sure it'll work for him.

  • LuckyRLuckyR Member UncommonPosts: 260

After buying way to many pre-orders, I think everyone should stop buying them and wait for any game they want to play to come out. The we are all on the same foot and we the gamer can control what them the game maker puts out. If you pre-order the can make a crappy game (AOC) and you don't even do a free month lol.
