The hype meter rating might be more relevant if there hadn't been an orginaized campaign over on the DFO forums to spam up (and drag down) the ratings here.

Seeing how some DF fans made postings in other top Hype Games to bring them down ("DF Rulez") so that Darkfall could be top ranked.

Just on a little sidenote: What about a 4-worded-post makes you think I care about it beeing .9 ot .4? I just would've found it beeing ironoc if Darkfall would reach #1 on a site that called Darkfall vaporware for years (no, not the mods, but the majority of the community - just many changed their minds after the 17minutes video came out).

I can only imagine the mods didnt want to lock it as then he may have started a thread saying "mods locked my thread after I caught them changing hype score's"

Yeah, the 50 people that will likely see this will be so shocked to see dramah on the -internet- of all places, that they'll never want to hear about DF again.
Seeing how it took Darkfall's hype meter about 3 / 4 days for it to go up .4 or .5, yet only take mere hours for it to go down .4 or .5 without any change in votes suggest that there was a massive coordinated effort to get people who already voted to lower their hype level, all at the same time, or the mods adjusted the level themselves.
I'm not one of these crazy Darkfall fan boys, but I like try to see all the view points. Which one of the two above outcomes sounds the most realistic? I'd think the second one. Thinking that all the other MMO fans logged on within the same hour, saw DF was going up in hype, and then all decided to de-hype it is just as unlikely as the whole 'big coordinated effort to de-hype DF' thing. The only logical conclusion left is that the hype meter was artifically changed.
It really doesn't bother me, because I don't think a game's rank on a hype meter has too much to do with it's success after release. It's just one more thing for people to agrue about. However, I think it's pretty obvious to an unbias person that the reason for the recent drop in hype was not because "some people changed their previous hype levels."

I like you a lot. You are a fan of the game and you aren't ashame to admit it. What is unique also about you is you know where lines should be drawn. Whether its a fan or a hater, anyone can cross the line but you are a fan of the game with a good amount of sense on your shoulders.

We may know little about it aside from what's published on the website. We may know little of what the actual game play is going to look like, aside from the video released some short time ago. We may not know all of the fine details of the game, but we do one one VERY important thing - the game inspires hope in many of us who have trudged through the plethora of feces many of the MMO's since UO have subjected us too.
Granted, we didn't have to play those games. We didn't have to grind away thousands of hours of our lives doing the same pointless crap... but who could blame us? We were looking for that long lost love that was Ultima Online. Perhaps not UO itself but more for the sense of adventure, risk, and most importantly the fun that comes with living/playing in a fully player driven "living" world.
We miss the days of old when you could barely step foot out of the city limits, hell, leave the inn, without being slaughtered and all of your worldly belongings stripped from your person. Or, the days when you could stand at the bank and wait for some sod to come and loot your pack.. only to trigger an explosive trap that blew them to kingdom come.
Why do we hype? Because we yearn for something more.
Something that many "modern" MMO's do NOT supply. Darkfall Online has taken what many loved from UO and transferred it into a more modern engine and improved upon it by implementing many of the same features you see in modern day MMO's.
Hype away brothers. Let the reign of Darkfall eclipse the worlds of those other games.

Because you and I both know that isn't what is happening. Anyone with an IQ above 23 knows a lot of members are coming from Forumfall (and creating alts) to bring other games down and hyping yours up.
About that, I could care less. Anyone who looks too much into that hype meter is just wishful thinking themselves into some game nirvana or something, God knows.
However, what I do have a problem with is people accusing the staff here of rigging anything and the fact that well over 50% of the regular darkfall members here have alternate accounts...which is a major infraction of the website here. If you want people to respect you, you need to act like everyone else in terms of courtesy and respect.
And I know MANY of you have created alts because Im seeing the same damn IP pop up all the time with many of the members here....either that or groups of members share the same computer.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with hyping a game. This thread isnt about that. At page two, one of your forumfall members started accusing the moderators of this website of rigging the hypemeter because it started to go down a bit since he started the thread.
Many of these pages is basically an argument of that. Not about people hyping the game.
I see the problem when:
a) you recruit forumfallers (both new and old) to come and hype the game at the official forums.
b) When multiple accounts are made to hype the game
c) When they dehype other games they know nothing about to get DF higher.

Why can't forumfallers come here and show their excitement and disinterest in games? Does participating on the Darkfall forums somehow exclude one's opinion from mattering towards the hype meter?
And we can say that accounts were made to dehype just as easily, so QQ more.

Because you and I both know that isn't what is happening. Anyone with an IQ above 23 knows a lot of members are coming from Forumfall (and creating alts) to bring other games down and hyping yours up.
About that, I could care less. Anyone who looks too much into that hype meter is just wishful thinking themselves into some game nirvana or something, God knows.
However, what I do have a problem with is people accusing the staff here of rigging anything and the fact that well over 50% of the regular darkfall members here have alternate accounts...which is a major infraction of the website here. If you want people to respect you, you need to act like everyone else in terms of courtesy and respect.
And I know MANY of you have created alts because Im seeing the same damn IP pop up all the time with many of the members here....either that or groups of members share the same computer.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
