I believe the MMORPG crowd wants to see DF extremely badly, but has been let down over and over with empty promises and lack of observable evidence to the existence of DF. I think the "crowd" just wants to see the game released and is sick and tired of waiting, resulting in a negative outlook on DF.
I'm sure the gear obsessed, level-based carebears have a little of resentment for DF because they fear anything that doesn't allow you to play a game with little due regard for their characters life. In other words, they can't just run in a dungeon and die with no consequences because in games like DF they just don't fit in due to the risk/reward systems.

Just wanted to inform you guys, Darkfall just to outpaced Aion and Stargate Worlds is next (both at the same rating atm). Then only Warhammer, which will leave the "unreleased games"-section in 10 days, is above Darkfall. Whether you want it or not - Darkfall is coming!1 No. 1!
You do know there was a thread stating "Darkfall is coming" on these very boards. It was dated Sept of last year. At the time the fans swore up and down just as they do now. that the game would be out by the end of the year or early 2008.

Still no UI shown in the video's (how eaxactly are they "playing" the game?) and no real media has seen it. To be fair, some UI has been shown.
You get to see the buy/sell ui. Backpack/paperdol ui. Position /target sensitive mouse cursor. I believe some sort of general UI is also there in the buy/sell section of the video on the left. It's usual to turn such UI off for gameplay videos and screen shots.
well aoc didnt bring anything new to the table. well they brought collision detection back, but without friendly fire its just laughable. DF on the other hand brings many old qualities back that has been forgotten since (UO/AC-DT), and adds a shitload innovations on top. This is why I hype it, I want people to try a sandbox mmorpg, because its a whole different experience compared to the the EQ/Daoc/WoW/Aoc spreadsheet mmorpgs. Its like a whole different kind of game, and I really want people to try this out.

When a hype meter jumps like that...its indicative of people making lots of new accounts to force the numbers high. Can't agree with that kind of stuff.
