hahahaha VG/WoW/LoTro all had almost the same problem at launch im sure some others did also , wow/Vg were the worst , in wow mobs would teleport/ or bug out of sight right next to you or it would say your facing the wrong way then if you did get it killed you had loot stuck bug heh , and Vg ugg same thing whole first month teleporting mobs and LoS issues , Lotro had issues like the unattackable bug in war almost exactly , but nothing close to as bad as wow/VG tho Vg was the worse of all .
In WaR it seams to happen when a ranged attacker switched from ranged to melle they "stick" to you and are un attackable untill you run out of the original los of the mob . last Pw it was pathing issues , and mob placemetn issues in battle , the mob would usualy run behind you first thing and you would have to turn it areound , maybe when they worked on that it coused this .
Point is these things happen in about every mmo , they get ironed out usualy the first few weeks . Things get fixed other things get broken then re fixed etc, its the way of the mmo , has been for 10 years or so .
Can't wait for launch. Servers are already chock-full in Europe OB, so I hope they have a lot of extra servers ready to handle the massive influx of players. Game's running amazing and plays excellent. The three issues I had with the game during Closed Beta have all been fixed. This game will be a massive hit, regardless of the GOA Open Beta mess-up.
To americans, is war a good game? Not talking about graphics, I dont care, I think they look good, but gameplay, fun, lasting appeal, immersion, community, what is it like? And it hasnt failed, goa have failed, people will just buy US.
IMO WOTC made a mistake by chosing such a comparitively small developer such as Mythic to develop a game for such a HUGE license. (Yes, 'Warhammer' is bigger than 'Warcraft' and thus should in theory sell loads more) And Mythic made a massive mistake by chosing such an incompetant company as GOA to host it for Europe. Ah well, here's hoping KOTORO will dethrone WoW.
I died laughing when I read this...Wizards of the Coast does not have a fraking thing to do with Warhammer. Warhammer is made by GamesWorkshop which is a Small Company.....despite their size they also do the lord of the rings minatures ... Size & age has nothing to do with whether or not a game is any good.
Mythic is a SEASONED MMO developer with 200+ employees working on this game where as most "large' developers dont have a frigging clue about MMOS and thus we get stuck with shit tastic games like The Matrix Online..its developer never made a damn MMO in its life.

Perhaps some will buy US, but given how many people are currently swarming the EU servers, it doesn't seem that GOA's account center issues have had any significant impact.
Originally posted by Boreil In WaR it seams to happen when a ranged attacker switched from ranged to melle they "stick" to you and are un attackable untill you run out of the original los of the mob ..
From what I can tell it has to do with the v axis.. the game probably thinks the mob's in the ground or something and flags it..
Well apart from you still can't make a new account still and quite a few people still haven't got their activation key a day after the "tempary" solution came out.
That is still like 50k+ concurrent players on the EU during beta, have to assume release is larger by a good bit and obviously for every player in game there are 4 or 5 who aren't at any given time. That doesn't sound like a failed game to me~.
I dont know about War ever being intended to be a rival to warcraft. It never was designed for that, it was designed to target a hardcore pvp competitive community.
Not really on topic but that bugged me.
To talk about GOA like that, yes it sucks, but the folks over at mythic are probably slapping themselves right now and hopefully they'll make it up somehow. I personally wont be playing it as I think the pvp system has failed, but thats a whole other ball of wax.
What!?? Warhammer a hardcore PvP community? Are you that dellusional all day or just when you visit this forum? Hardcore PvP is EVE, Shadowbane an UO. WAR is the same silly pvp grind just like WoW battlegrounds with a few more features. But the whole interaction between players is still limited to... fight. No death penalties, people are fightning, dying, ressing over and over again. No thrill of the battle, nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
WAR hasn't failed, Mythic failed going with GOA again, GOA are epic fail....... again!
The oracle speaketh:
Only problem with the actual game is it is a cut down version of DAoC with new graphics. In a few years it will 'be' DAoC with new graphics. They will release an expansion that will totally destroy the game then release new ruleset servers to try and get the players who left back. It will then slowly die, to the point that there are 10-15 players per server at peak time. Everyone will be playing the new Blizzard MMO and complaining that they are bored of it, the community sucks and looking for something new.......

No death penalties, people are fightning, dying, ressing over and over again. No thrill of the battle, nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
Hardcore can be used in multiple ways, there is nothing wrong with what he posted. I'm a hardcore PvP addict, it is all I really care about in a game. In WoW I spent all of my time at max level in the BG and/or arena and never touched the PvE.
WoW does not have a hardcore pvp ruleset which is the use you are using.
No need to get your dander up over him using the word hardcore~.
Also the thrill of the battle is what I play the games for and no SB and UO didn't thrill me more than WoW/WAR do. UO it was simple to get back gear so I never really felt it was a big deal and SB really didn't have much in the way of a PvP penalty unless you were doing a bane fight.
WoW will die out when it has run its course and enough decent competion arrives. No one game will kill WoW.
WAR does what it does exceedingly well. It is fun. It has a great deal of depth, but can be played in small bursts with a greater sense of accomplishment than in WoW.
AoC took a small chunk out of WoW. Warhammer will take a bigger one. WoW will continue to grow as it expands into new territories, but its base will slowly erode as people switch to the new MMOs that cater to their interests. It will die one day, but not because something bigger came along.
Warhammer should be a smashing success based on my time with it so far. If it falters past level 20 (ala LotRO), it won't do as well in the long run, but it is a solid, polished game that should only get better as time goes on.
If GOA blows it in a big way, then Mythic needs to take legal action to make sure that they hold up their end of the bargain. I feel for the people who can't get into the beta because of GOA issues. I had a Target pre-order here in the US and until I found the O is Q solution, I was pulling my hair out (and I shave my head, so you can only imagine how painful it was to pull it from elsewhere).
But to claim that the game is doomed because of the beta authentication issues is just ludicrous.

No. WAR has their version of battlegrounds, but the PvP experience is much deeper with the RvR content. There is a lot more to WAR PvP than scenarios. How "hardcore" it is is determined by how "hardcore" the player wants it to be. WAR has the options for depth that WoW doesn't, while still being easily accessible for people with lives. The balance is well handled, IMHO.

Hmm the odd thing is the first month of WoW is really the only month I played.. and I never saw this.
There was the stuck in the "looting position" due to database lag.. but never the mob issue.
I do remember hearing about the mob issue later (I have friends that still play WoW) but I never saw it at launch. Vanguard was probably the worst... Of course this is easy to say simply because it also had the bug where you could log out... log back in Dead... 3 levels lower and in the middle of an ocean you were never near (then again you could fall through the boat and take 10,000+ dmg as well).
Never saw this in LoTRO either.. tho again I only played the first month.
Regardless...
Your point is ..
Game A, B or C had this issue so its ok for WAR to have it?
Personally I would think at some point... it wouldn't be an issue. I guess I just don't follow the logic of why its ok or to be accepted... Do we need another 2 decades of MMO's before its not ok?
And...
Someone in this thread said Mythic is a small company with little resources? I must have missed something because I believe that's why they sold to EA... to have the resources..
My favorite moment from the WoW launch month was when I was playing a warrior in Westfall. I targetted a mob and hit my Charge hotkey. Nothing happened. I stood there for a few minutes, then walked all the way across the zone in frustration. The lag spike broke and the character charged full-speed all the way accross the zone to hit the mob.
I mean, obviously it's a publisher but I have no clue what GOA stand for.
GOA is a French telecom company that was picked by EA/Mythic to host the Warhammer game servers in Europe - in addition to acting as the primary EU publisher. GOA has also provided some pretty craptastic service for DAoC - I wonder why they were picked for WAR as well.
Before declaring the game as a failure I hope you realize this is a North American company and primarily a north american game. So its takes some doing to offer the game for distant geographic regions. So give them some slack or have some local european company have the smarts to create a good mmo for you guys.

So its takes some doing to offer the game for distant geographic regions. So give them some slack or have some local european company have the smarts to create a good mmo for you guys.
And this is why Americans have a terrible global image. Why do so many people fit the stereotype? With GOA at the helm, Warhammer certainly has made a very bad first impression in Europe - probably along the lines of outright failure if you go by all the terrible anecdotes posted on the forums here... And I have yet to hear of any company that releases games that are meant exclusively for a certain geographic region.
Sad to say it but it's true, just like Vanguard before it the 'Next Big Thing' has burned out not with a bang but with a whimper... and before the release date as well. Mythic have made the biggest mistake of their lives going with GOA - now 50% of their playerbase is completely disillusioned with them and a great game with a great franchise behind it, one that COULD have easily contested with WoW is the laughing stock of the industry. IMO, WAR was the last hope against WoW, and it has completely failed. Looks like there will be no big changes in the MMO world any time soon.
well why dont you make a telecom company so they can get rid of GOA maybe there is a reason why they went with them.

Wait a minute I have a terrible global image because MMO companies in America can't figure out how to properly host games in Europe?
Here I thought it was something else..
Actually as far as I think I remember... I read that the market in Europe was considered larger (tho mostly untapped) than the one in the US... for MMO's anyway.
I really don't know but GOA is a european operation and since they failed with DAoC yes Mythic should have used someone else.. but I could also say.. that GOA gives a certain image of what they must be trying to work with.. in Euro areas...
