A fan of the Stargate IP?  Mildly.  I'm more interested in a fun game regardless of the IP.

Now if someone announces a Babylon 5 mmo I'd be a drooling fanboy before the first concept art hit the web.  But I don't think that will ever happen.

Anyone else into it at all?

    I am a fan of SG1

    the Stargate Movies

Not so much a fan of Stargate Atlantis though.

Daniel and O'Neil made SG1 imo Atlantis just doesnt have the same chemistry to me.

As far as Stargate Worlds I am on the fence. On the one hand I like Stargate in general. On the other I am not a huge fan of Sci-fi'ish MMO's. I am also not a huge  fan of 1st person shooters (some I have liked)  and hate 3rd person shooters.

With Gauld's and Asgards being playable ..... I am leaning more to the "I'm gonna take a pass on this" side but I am still hopeful.

Some may like that the Asgard and Gauld are playable but to me it kills alot of the spirit. Asgards are a superior race with superior tech and with how they have them set up I am not looking forward to that at all. Reducing them to Drone users just kills it a bit for me.

The Gauld rule by force and numbers. Having a Guald player only have a few minions just doesn't have the same feel as the series or movie for me. I mean a Gauld is a system lord. They conquer and control Planets..... to be reduced to being on par with Tari kills it for me a bit more.

Part of the fun of the series for me is that generaly a small group of people take on the massive armies of the Gauld and occasionaly get help from the Asgard a race so Superior even the Gauld fear them to an extent, atleast enough to sign a treaty lol.

If they stayed a bit truer to the IP I would be standing in line with my money in hand. For now though I am still on the fence and hanging in there I like how they are doing the Archeologist and Scientists.

In my opinion: Nice concept, mediocre movie as can be expected from Roland Emmerich, poor show - especially compared to the one it cannibalized, namely Farscape.

Still I'm curious about this game, because I'm always on the lookout for new blood in the genre. Especially when it comes to science fiction.

Here's hoping it will ultimately not be as heavily combat-oriented as the videos make me think it is.

Fan of the movies and SG1. Not so much with Atlantis. I do try to catch it whenever SG1 guest stars on it though. As for the game, so far I am leaning towards being a fan boy, but then we have seen only small portions of the game so far. I'm reserving judgement till CB starts coming to an end- which will be a long time from now. If the game seems more polished and the prospects for meaningful updates seem promising- you know I will be a rabid fanboy. If not, well.... there is always APB and Aion, not to mention Mortal, and a few others on the horizon.

To me, hyping the game isn't bad. It's the blinde hype I can't stand. I will also defend people's right to question things with it, within reason. We shouldn't be becoming yesmen to anyone anymore. That is what gave us AoC, WAR, soon to be Darkfall (/facepalm) and the current economic crisis. We pay their bills, therefore we should do whatever constructive we can to make sure they earn their keep.

On the flip side of that, I wouldn't recommend blinde trolling either. Either this style of game is for you, or it isn't. If you talk about bugs. Fine. If you want to talk about what they can do better, great. But don't be knocking the fact that it is SG IP, nor that it is a shooter. Also, if I hear the first person complain about not having ships at release- and that is the whole point of their post, I swear I will squeeze the talking pimple sprouting from their neck till it pops.

    -----------------------
Tried- L2, Ryzom, WAR, DDO, PWI, Tab Rasa, Requiem, Champs, AA, JD, PWI, SUN, Dawntide

    Playing- EVE, Black Prophecy, TOR

Waiting for- Tera, Jumpgate Evo, WH40K, WWE, WOD, TSW

    Not a real fan of the show.  Sorry, but I've seen some really bad acting and it really makes it hard to enjoy.  I've also seen some really poor writing.  With that said;

It's not a bad show.  And some of the actors have grown well into their parts.  Many of the episodes are well written and acted and these are pure joy to watch.  The concept is sound, but i'm sure it's not easy to crank one of these out every week.

The original movie that started it all was epic, and actually this can be attributed directly to the actors.  the script was nice.  The ark and continuum, were barely more than long episodes.  It had no epic feel.  Don't get me wrong, they were at least enjoyable to watch(other than bits and pieces of poor acting).  Just had no....wow factor.

Of course I'm a harsh judge.  I expect a show that's been around this long to have some excellent writing along the lines of a book.  and I just don't see it.

Now can I enjoy a game based on the IP?  Of course.  It's a great premise and fits perfectly in an mmo setting the way that CME is currently handling it.

    Just my .05
