Haha it was only a half serious post. I just think saying "I'm playing WAR' is slightly cooler than saying 'I'm playing WoW'"

Lol, darkfall looks awful. WAR and WoW are both good games, in different respects. Play both.

I haven't got anything against Darkfall graphics and its hyped gameplay - it's just that I feel the game is the Duke Nukem of MMORPG....

Well I don't want to alarm the WAR fans, but an awful lot of boxes stand there on the dealers shelves...

    And they ain't movin'...

WAR is 'ok'; not bad, but not great.  Imo, the game seems a bit dated as if I were playing a reskinned DAoC 1.5.

I don't find the PvE that bad.  The quests are somewhat interesting and the PQ concept can be fun (although I'll greatly disagree it does anything to encourage grouping).  What I was really looking forward to though was RvR ... and so far it just seems ... well ... flat; again not bad per se, but definitely not great.  Outside of playing with my guild, PvP is an unorganized zerg fest.

WAR is simply another vanilla fantasy themepark.  I really can't find anything compelling to differentiate WAR from WoW; Blizzard just seems to have put together a better version.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. I thought you mentioned the shooter. No, I think I had another login last year (bod-bo something), but I kind of lost the password and secret Q and it resembled a bit too much my log-in to a certain game. So I changed it.

Why play WOW when there's WAR?

Because most people love mindless grinding, killing same bosses every week instead of tons of fun starting at level 1, get lewt gear for a while till it gets replaced with more lewt gear.

Typical paradox. Let them have what they want, MMO veterans will be playing War instead.

    What a load of crap.

I'm an MMO Veteran, starting with EQ in 2000ish Kunark Era and I found Warhammer to lack the control and brilliant game design of WoW.  It cannot possibly hope to touch World of Warcraft in every department.  The only thing it has is it's 'twist' of RVR.   Every MMORPG these days has their special 'twist' to try and seperate themselves from Wow, but their overall experience falls far short.  Even if RVR is soo important to you that you have to play the game just for that feature, the  overall experience will always be far diminished compared to WoW.

WAR feels rough and outsourced, like every part has been outsourced at the last minute and tied together.  The game doesn't have the flow of WoW, theres no internal consistency and it just doesn't feel fun to play.

WAR feels like a game designed by Javascript "programmers" instead of game designers.

There is just no comparison.   The Scenarios are nothing more than blander, more imbalanced battlegrounds with poor design and a few useless 'twists' that serve no purpose than to lure people into thinking the gameplay is deeper.   The combat is disgraceful, it's far more poorly designed than WoW, where everything connects and flows and it just feels like superior design compared to WAR's patchwork quilt of a game.

And the general gaming population know this to be true.  Not most of you guys for sure, but our opinions here are not superior to the silent masses, nor are they indicative at all of what's going on in the real world.   This place is a hotbed of negativity and you cannot see the wood for the trees, WoW is a far superior game and this is not personal opinion or blind fanboism, this is simply the way things are.  You don't have to like it, but to deny it is just lying to yourself.  You will never understand why you enjoy gaming until you accept and understand the fantastic aspects of WoW, even if not to your personal tastes, to hide behind ignorance by making false claims that your game of choice exceeds in every area is self-dellusion.

Warhammer is an OK game, it will forever be OK and will forever live in the shadow of WoW and perhaps the game that eventually surpasses it.

You will most likely shake your head violently and dismiss me as a troll, yet with your petty MacDonalds and Britney spears analogies  that you come up with in bouts of pseudo-intellectualism, and your pretentious 'wow is just a kiddie game, RVR is where its at!' excuses are transparent and as false as the promises of all of these hyped MMORPGs.

I'll no doubt see you on these boards not long after WAR is just a memory eagerly anticipating the next 'WoW killer'

And all I can say, as I have said time and time again to people on these boards waiting for Hellgate, LOTOR, Tabala Rasa,  Archlord, D&D online... bloody dozens of the things.. is.. I told you so.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

    This, tbh.

Well spoken, and truthful in my experience.  I currently carry WAR, WOW, and EVE subscriptions.  Each of them satisfies a different gameplay desire, in ways hard to put into words.  When it all comes down to it, I think WAR will be like CoX for me.  Fun to play for a couple months, fun to come back to from time to time, but it's not a long-term home.  Mostly, I'm having fun with WARs different classes and playing with mechanics that are slightly different, but ultimately the same as WoW.  I am preferring WAR for PvP, simply because I'm advancing my character by doing so.

Some things WAR should learn from WoW:

-Mail...why on earth one mail every 20 seconds?  To prevent gold-selling spam?  I get a tell every minute for that, and so far, no mail for it.  But sending all those seeds and gear I'm saving around is really a pain...far more so than a normal person would expect is reasonable.

-Bank...in capital city only?  Don't make me run to chapter three or whatever to hop on a copter-thingy to go to the main capital to bank...can't you have a small kiosk in the same areas you put a mailbox?

-Auction...i'm speechless about this actually.  Look at WoW's...or EQ2...or something for God's sake.

-Logging in and Out-So much easier in every other game.  This one takes so long to get into, takes an extremely long time to get out of when you're done also, not sure what's up with that.  This game takes forever to exit.  EVE, I hit Ctrl-Q, and I'm out in like 3 seconds.

Some things WoW could learn from WAR:

-Collision detection.  When people aren't "warping" through you, it's a very cool PvP mechanic.

-Broken Equipment drops.  Nice to find these, as they seem to morph in a useable piece of gear, after repaired, for the class that picks 'em up.  If they don't morph, then I've been very lucky.

-Character advancement and useful loot while PvPing.  This is a no-brainer.  Dead on Mythic, I love this.

This MUST be the post of the month.

I think a lot of MMORPG.COM posters should read again the part where it says "This place is a hotbed of negativity and you cannot see the wood for the trees,... "

On the WAR forums there are guys even stating it is the "next generation of MMO's".

While taking a "flight path" in WAR: you look at a 2D/3D animated loading screen. How far must standards fall before anyone stands up there and says "Hello?, knock knock, anyone home up there"?

Only silence can honor it. And I'll bump it up if necessary.

Ya know, I hated WoW.  Not because its a bad game... just didnt like it, hell in all honesty WoW took aot of the best elements of every good online game and turned it into one hell of a money machine.  I love Blizzards games, I cant wait for D3...,  I -LOVE- Warhammer.

Let.  People.  Play.  What. They. Want.

All posts like this do is turn others off to the warhammer community and hurt it in the end.

Will War break WoW?  I dont know.  Dont care.  Just love playing the game.

WAR feels like a f2p mmo for some reason. Open RvR is a pretty big letdown at the moment due to the lack of Order players. I have yet to see Order hold any RvR areas for any length of time. I don't think I'll be sticking this one out. If things get better I might come back.

Well now, some people like playing MMO's with cartoony graphics and pretty colors. Thats cool, to each their own.

Personally, I'd rather play a fantasy MMO that doesn't look like it was drawn by the people who did the Pokemon cartoons, but thats just me.

    Gotta raid 'em all!

    **Returned SWG Player**
Yeah, I used to hate the game because of NGE as much as anyone, but I've been playing the game since Feb. 2008 and have honestly had a good time. If you hate the game, fantastic, move along. Its all been said before and your continuous griefing just makes you look like a sad individual with nothing better to do.

  • I like WoW because of the variety and balance in their spells and classes.  In WAR I like the public quests, the pvp drive behind it, the idea of raid vs raid castle fights, and realm vs realm.  But WAR does not have the polish WoW did, which is very sad.  I will be staying away from WoW because after awhile it becomes a boring repetative grindathon that you cant win compared to the people who have more time, but they sure have some unique and fun spells.  WAR's combat is not nearly as animated (in WoW you can tell which spells are being cast when which is nice) nor in depth.  They are both nice, but because WoW has frustraited me i will lean twoards WAR.
