Well since they are so similar there is no reason for someone who has already invested time in WoW to make the switch.
They are simaler as in I run with wasd and I click on things thats about it. Cuz I was bored with WoW and having a blast with WAR if they are so allike wouldn't I be bored with WAR?

i see alot of posts saying "wow is boring war isn't blah blah war won't get boring thats why i like it". ALL GAMES GET BORING. If you believe otherwise you are foolish. One reason i don't play or war is because when i did play it i could tell almost immediately the life cycle of this game, get max level get max rp level done after that boring. maybe 3 months at max. i have been playing games close to 20 years and i have a good feel quite quickly for the amount of entertainment value of a game and how long it will last. Much to my surprise by lv 9 i was done by lv 9 as the value had run out.
Flame me if you want but it couldn't even live up to its own expectations and play it thru the whole leveling process with out becoming stale and repetetive ( played thru 4 of the 6 starting area and wasn't inticed to go any farther). If this was any other genre with the amount of polish and content it wouldn't even see 7's as average reviews. but people forgive and even defend it because its multiplayer just like people defend halo which in my opinion is over hyped garbage to the nth degree.
Sorry to go off on a rant but my is once the hype and the honeymoon love making wear off war subs shouldn't be above 250k a cult game like all the other mmos that arn't wow and alot of people wondering what they were thinking when they endorsed this one.
If i am wrong then the mmorpg genre really is dead
Hype is my nemesis. i will fight it til the day i die whether i take it down or it takes me down. So depressing, Yes?
Yeah, I agree with you cukimunga. They look similar on the surface but they aren't the same game at all. The feel is very very different. WAR is grim and signs of battle are all over the place. Everywhere you go looks like an army of people have tried to take it over. WoW's world strikes me as brighter and happier. I never felt like a massive waging war was occurring in WoW except for some of the TBC areas.
The classes play quite differently. There is no druid, rogue, or warlock style class in WAR. Because of lots of complaints about cc in DAoC (and probably listened to ppl whining about it in WoW), Mythic designed WAR to have less of it. That is a dynamic that really changes how PvP works. Scenarios are similar to BG's, but the RvR frontier of each area isn't like anything WoW provides. It's true 'Mythic'.
Overall I like both games but the big sticking point for me is how dependent on how geared up one has to be in WoW. I really dislike that aspect of gameplay because I simply don't have the time to do it. I'm not saying that WAR will never have it. It depends on whether Mythic learned from the ToA debacle. If raiding ever becomes a part of WAR, I will leave it. It's that simple. Everytime I roll a character in WoW, I think to myself, 'y'know... when I get to lvl 70, all that I have open to me is getting 'welfare epics' and/or raid gear'. It puts a dampener on my enthusiasm. In WAR I can go out into the frontier and beat other players up. I like the sound of WAR's endgame. However, I will admit that I'm sorely tempted by what I've read about WotLK. Sounds pretty tasty.... Maybe I'll end up playing both WoW and WAR at the same time in the near future.
In answer to the OP though, I think that both WAR and WoW provide something. It's up to each player to decide why they might take one game over the other. I've already posted my reasons.
Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC.
i have 2 accounts, one for WoW and other one for WAR. I both play actively. even though they have a lot of differences but still, i enjoy them both. they have their own features but it doesn't mean the other is better.
I will never understand why people get all fanboyed up about this. It is OK to like both games. I'm currently playing WAR, but I'll certainly pick up WOTLK and play that when it comes out too. WoW got really boring to me after a few years, and WAR has some interesting things, but I still like WoW. It's not like I have to choose one or the other.
Have played war for about a week now - the RvR is ok - the Questing system and the profession system so far seem... kinda shallow. But, it's new - still room for improvement. (If the gold spam doesn't slow down I will not renew)

War and WOW? Apples and Oranges. Theres no comparison in my mind. War is PVP focused and balances classes and items around PVP. WOW is PVE focused and balances classes and items around PVE. Both "dabble" in the other type of gameplay but we all know thats basically to capture the opposite audience somewhat. War tries to get a little of the PVE crowd and WOW tries to get some action from the PVP heads. But basically the two games are completely different and have alot to offer a gamer depending on their gamestyle..
I will keep my subs and play them both. Ill do my WOW fun quests and raiding and then hit up WAR for the RVR action. Its great to have choices nowadays. Im a happy gamer
Warhammer seemed like a great game. I love PvP and I thought it would be the game I have been waiting for. In my opinion the game just doesn't have a feel of a MMORPG it felt sort of like guildwars. When I played WoW there was just something about it that kept me playing. I just prefer WoW.

Because WoW is actually polished and has something to do besides RvR mini game grind. WAR is a clone, why not just play the original.
Because WAR isn't good. After getting in my mid-20's it became a chore to log on and level, waste of my money. I'm also bored of WoW too, so I'm in sort of a predicament.
There is always AoC (wait until fall content patch is out), Darkfall, Stargate Worlds, and the new Star Trek game coming out. These actually look promising.
I quit AoC at 20, but the new patch does look promising. So does Darkfall, but it's considered Vaporware until I see a release date.
I hear ya man. AoC and Darkfall are perfect examples of what happens when a company tries to be innovative with out the support of a major publisher. Actually, a major publisher wouldn't take the risk to be innovative and would rather release clones of games that are successful. Sad really. Reminds me a lot of what happened to Saga, the first company to use CDs and have better than 16bit graphics. Now I'm

Yes you are, but you just don't know it yet.
need to upgrade my graphics card but then I'll hopefully will play the kind of superior pvp approach that I'd always wanted from WoW.
WAR has nothing to take most people from WoW.
