Indeed this is very sad news.

But his passing is a gentle reminder of the fact that MMO's are much more than just a game - he was apart of a this community.

I'll go post the link on the threads he answerd.  Blix should really read this info.

Think I can still post until next month.

Sad news. He was the only guy responded to critisism and take vets serious. Rest in peace .
I hope his dead had nothing to do with what nge did to his career.

This is sad news, I know he had a wife and a kid; this must be devastating for them. I was a critic of his, but also a fan, because I knew he wanted to tell us how much he thought it was F'd up what happened with the NGE, and he did to some extent. I watched the Space time project with interest, because to me it looked like they were building a "pre-cu like" game. I was disappointed to say the least when the project failed.

I remember a reply from someone on his blog saying he should go kill himself over what he did to SWG, and he responded with "maybe I should" To me that struck me as odd, and really fucked up for someone to say, but I just figured he was just being sarcastic Jeff and he let it just roll off. Looking back I should have realized he wasn't joking. I hope to god none of the vets, fans, or SOE got under his skin enough to drive him to do this. We criticized him, but it was enough for him to come out and say how he really felt about SOE, and I believed him. SOE criticized us, we did the same to them, and it’s just part of that gamer Vs developer culture.

I’m sure he heard it from his brother who sounds to be a big fan of pre-cu as well, which is honestly surprising to me. All in all I don’t blame him for the NGE at all, if anything it all goes back to corporate greed. He did us a service by giving us the facts, which no one else has done since, and for that, he could possibly be one of the more respectable ex-SOE devs.

    Rest In peace Jeff.

    Deepest condolences to hia family.

I'll always remember him coming into the CH forum during JTL beta and reporting on varoius things happening there.  I was sort of the defacto CH beta tester, finding bugs and reporting them, and Jeff would respond and provide us with information that we'd long been denied since Raph Koster left.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Very troubling news indeed, my condolences to his friends and family. He was definitely a great personality, and developer rolled into one. I hate what SOE did to SWG, however I feel for those who worked so hard on the original game, only to have to tear their own work apart.

This is sad news indeed. I never personally harbored any ill feelings toward Mr. Freeman and have great sympathy for his family. I have passed this story along to other communities containing ex SWG players and hope others have done the same.

If this is a HOAX...great shame on those that created it.

God Bless and RIP Jeff Freeman

My opinion of Jeff only slightly improved with his posts after the NGE. Still, that doesn't make this news any less tragic. My best wishes to his family.

One of my last posts directed to him personally i demanded him participating in an certain community for to come clean with me.

This very sad developments revealed among the feel of a loss thats what was for me relevant for to change  my view on him.

Guilty demanding from him to be the hero i would like  to see  and not accepting his way.

    RIP Jeff

..his Blog entry on Sept 23 has now a very sad meaning ...

Man that REALLY sucks.  I had exchanged communication with Jeff about 6 months ago.  He seemed so level-headed and actually very funny.

Jeff had quickly become one of my favorite bloggers and my opinion of him did a complete turnaround from when the NGE hit.

It appears this is true and it is so sad.  Like I said, Jeff was a very smart and seemingly *normal* guy who has a family.  His words to me were nice and I enjoyed our exchanges and I have grown to genuinely respect the man.

    Prayers for his family.

And I highly doubt it has anything to do with SWG, it had to be more serious than that.

Creativity should always be respected . RIP Jeff.

We do have to remember that he was largely responsible for Creature Handler and all the fun that was. he was also instrumental in JTL. Let us remember him by the BEST he did for us, and forgive and forget the rest. As a CH for my entire time pre-NGE, I am incredibly thankful for all the joy and thousands of hours of fun his creativity gave to my friends, my wife, and I.

My best moments in SWG came from his work.

This is truly sad news. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

Would like to say I am going to pray for his family. I'm very sorry for this loss.

Suicide is a very hurtful experience for the family - the guilt is hard to deal with.

    May God bless his family.

Talk about feeling like you've recieved a punch.  What a terrible day.

To lose one of the creators of one of the worlds gamers ease their lives through entertainment in.  These are the gifted people and the people we look up to.  We need people like Jeff and now there is one less great soul to walk the world.

I just hope he finds peace.  Rest in Peace Jeff Freeman.

Jeff earned my respect many times over in recent years with correspondence that demonstrated both thoughtfulness and sensitivity.  This is a great loss for those that knew him best of course, but also for all of us who enjoyed his presence and hard work in the MMO field.  My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family, and I'm hopeful that his spirit has found peace.

I never spoke with Jeff personally, but I do remember content he openly expressed interest in bringing to the game.  I also remember posts of his apologizing to the players for changes made as he saw they were not what players wanted.  He had ethics, he also had an employer he had to answer to.  Sorry to hear of anyone losing a cherished family member, sorry to hear of SWG losing a family member.

Some people will hold a grudge against him for changes made to the game, doesn't matter why those changes were made or who gave the order.  Those people need to remember that when a person dies, they have paid the ultimate price and any hard feelings should be forgiven.

Wish the best to Jeff's family and to those that knew him.
