And considering I posted that at night, it would be hard for me to be working my day job. Infact, I will be leaving for work right after this post, I just need to flame you real fast. You express yourself as a "newb" when you say that Everquest II is a "newb roleplaying game." Look at the end of the genre, MMORPG. Let us spell it out: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. What do you suggest you do in these games? Sure they have evolved, but if anything, you can call the pure PvP games in which no one role plays the "newb" games. Because, in fact, the are the "newb" of the genre. It use to be all about adventure and role playing, then it was involved. There is nothing wrong with the classics. What game do you like? Lineage II? That is like ritual suicide. Definitely not a game.
How do you roleplay in a game that you cant even wack someone over the head that you have differing views of? It is not roleplaying, it is participating in a close ended environment. I dont get any sense of enjoyment killing computer generated monsters for my sense of accomplishment. If I wanted to participate in this I would buy a single player role playing game.
So there really is no roleplaying. Not good roleplaying anyways. And if there is a good city and a evil city, I at least want to be able to at least try and undermine the other one in a competitive environment. At least.
And massively multiplayer, hmm. The only multiplayer games I ever played was "versus" other players. This is not versus other players but in cooperation with other players versus the computer. Hardly worth my time. And there sense of "indirect" competition is just that. Indirect. It is who kills the most computer monsters wins. Blah. So many fualts.
So yeah I think you all are "wussies" for playing into this whole girly little kid mmorpg that is everquest 2.

Initially, massive multiplayer online roleplaying games weren't meant for enjoyment on killing npcs,
it was meant for enjoying roleplaying with other players. People that don't know a thing about roleplaying
were the ones who decided that killing creatures to hit the highest lvl, was the only thing to do in an
mmo. Of course, now most of the mmos out there and being developed, don't give you anything to do
other than killing creatures over and over again. This post wasn't meant to flame you, I'm just describing
how things have changed from when the first mmos were released.
I dont mind killing NPCs in a game, as long as im doing it with some real people. You can roleplay that way, and the people at SOE do this very well. Factions make it so a certain mob will hate you for somthing you did or what your origins are. That makes for good role playing.
What r1tual wants doesnt really add to the role play factor, i mean yeah, if you dont like someone you can hit them, but thats not roleplaying. Roleplaying is if you killed someone else because they were an ogre and you are dwarf. The reason you killed them has some backround to and its not just because you dont like that person. Like if you were in the army and someone on your side pissed you off you wouldnt kill them would you?
WoW looks fun, but not my taste. EQ2 was also on my mind since there's no PvP, but I decided on Ryzom because the graphics were better. I never noticed their trailers they had, and I liked those better than the EQ2 graphics.
You will know that there are two politically different factions. Freeport and Qeynos. Now we know they arent at war.
So really all im saying is that if I wanted to conform to the roleplaying they have laid out accuratly. I would have to roleplay a story that I did not agree with. So it just is my saying I dont agree with EQ2's story. There is no conflict.
Im sure more story will be added, it will liekly take the shape of players versus computer and not freeport versus qeynos.
Its a close ended roleplaying experience. You arent given all the possibilities to be good or evil. You are either a citizen of one town and the only roleplaying you do is with other players in a struggle against the computer environment.
I dont mind roleplaying my class or race. I do mind being restricted on how I pusue the storyline or how I dealw ith my environment. If I cant attack another player Id ont like then well that is a turn off. If I cant start wars or try and sway my people into war it is dull for me.
So since this game does not fit my personal ideal of the type of mmorpg I want to play. I wont.
And you trolling my opinions make you as ignorant, immoral, and unintelligent.

I agree with your opinion on the Freeport versus Qeynos subject. I believe that if they're going to have
a good and evil city, then they should allow the players to establish their own conflicts. Without players
creating their own conflicts, what are we (the players), actually doing to stop the people of Freeport or of
Qeynos. How exactly are we involved in this struggle between good and evil? Killing a bunch of npcs isn't
By next holiday I hope to be playing World of Warcraft if not then I might go back to DAoC, but I hope WoW will be released by Christmas and there wont be any delys.

Well the two cities are in more of a Cold War. There is not really a lot of fighting between the 2 YET. As you can see from many different sources is that Freeport is building up an army. Also if you were to read the new lore, there shows to be some big changes after the release.
I know your set on believing that there will never be PVP but i refuse to believe that. There are so many signs that point to PVP in the future. Good vs. Evil, Freeport building an army up, Ralloz Zek is plotting something. Somthing will happen and these two cities will be emerged into a battle. They wouldnt make all this content on it and just leave it be. I have a feeling it is not going to be PVP like in EQlive were you can join a certain server, i think it will be a huge part of the story and will change the way the game is played.
I never said I didnt think they wouldnt ever come up with some player versus player combat and roleplaying. I just think that who wants to play a game on the pretense it may or may not ever be truly finished.
I hope they come out with a statement that can put all our concerns to rest. Like when we will see open ended roleplaying and player versus player combat.
But from what I have read they keep saying that they have no plans for PvP in the future at all. So maybe we already got our answer.

Like omg I have to fight another player? Omg no. Violence is bad. This is why there is violence in the world. Oh wait 98% of violent criminals have never played a computer game in their lives. So like omg. Nevermind. Omg. Why do we have combat at all? Why cant we just cast beauty spells and like omg lights and dancing. And why cant there just be AI bunnies instead of AI monsters. Omg they are so ugly and I dont want to hit the computer AI with my magic wand I want to tame a AI bunny as my pet so I can give it huggies and kissies!
Like omg. Lets just make one of the graphically better rpg's into PvE only. Lets make it like a girls mmorpg where the characetr models look like they are throwin sissy punch's all over. And all characetr models will have size 20 feet. That is the norm nowadays. Not. And like omg lets like totally picket that PvP is evil! Yes because we are girls! Us girls must do what us girls have to do. PvP players like PvE too but PvE players must be PMS'in about possibly having some sort of optional consentual PvP. Big deal like omg I am PMS'in so what. LIke,.... Omg.
