Warhammer developers scrambling to appease its masses....

wow, I just spent some time over at the Warhammer alliance listening to all the tidbits of performance and stuff on the game, and man do they have problems, and once again most of the fixes are being made by the consumers themselves, coming up with their own hotfixes and tweaks.

One can say that an MMO can recover from a failed start in certain circumstances, but just like Failcom's AOC, the dev's at Warhammer are scrambling to fix all the CTD's and ever so popular HITCHING that occurs in MMO's when first launched.

All I can say is that jobs are on the line here.  Already you can see youtube videos of current consumers who are getting as little as 4 to 8 FPS with a high rig, ofcourse it could also be network problems, from companies throttling bandwidth from inexperienced home owners who don't know how to manage their networks, could be other things, but it seems like Mythic has its hands full at the moment, this month is really critical for them, to Re-Sub or Not to Re-Sub that is the question over at the Warhammer Alliance forums.  Personally I don't want to see any MMO fail, its just not good for the genre, who is already in shambles after so many epic fails....guess we'll just see the outcome of this fiasco.

Umm, this game has had one of the best launches ever....even better than WoW's (which was quite outstanding for the time).

Do you even know what you're talking about?

Yeah, it would be so much better if they left any crash to desktop errors and graphic hitching problems in.  I mean who would want to improve their product?  What's in it for them?  Happier customers?  More money?

Ok this one is currently at Page 43, but I believe it goes up to 60 pages over at the warhammer alliance forums, and I'm sure there are more in other forums, yes I do know what I am talking about, or else I wouldn't be posting this stuff up. I do not have time to read all the forums on other Warhammer fansites, but yes they are having BIG problems overthere at Warhammer, make no mistake about it, once again, I wish no bad luck to warhammer....but things could get ugly if they keep ignoring their consumers, their reply is always" well, eventhough people are having performance issues, we think it has to do more with their components and set up than with our clients."

54 pages of one threads that has been locked down one time already because of a signed petition over at Warhammer that got out of hand, and it keeps growing, I don't know what you consider a smooth launch, I havent seen a smooth  launch of an MMO ever.  Facts are Facts, this game was released Early, just to ensnare potential consumers that were gonna play WOW's expansion coming up in November, which are still probably gonna play it.

I gotta go with Binny on this one. Yes, there are problems that some are having. But over all this has been one of the smoothest launches I have seen.  I was there for Anarchy Onlines launch, I think I know a bad launch when I see one.

The only problem ive ran into with this game is when I would root mobs would follow me. The new patch is supposed to fix this I havent played yet today so I guess well see.  I rarely have any lag and if I do its not game breaking.

Id say this game has had one of the best launches, lets just hope the game is as smooth in T4.

Actually, most problems usually occur because people "tweak" their systems. That's asking for it.

I have no hitching, fps is high, and that on a Vista rig. I also think you're blowing things up, with the whole "jobs on the line" :).

And I bet you are lvl 10 and have never done a 40 man Warband Keep asault where the FPS is a slideshow. Either that or you are lying.

Did you ask your realm mates to stop window dragging to lag ppl down so they can run away from fights ...

that could cut down a ton of the lag. i never saw it ,even when fighting with abuot 80 ppl on screen in T2 Mandred's keep and also agian 20mins later at Morr's ,

Here is a video I did taking a keep but with nobody defending.

While it isn't super smooth its not a slide show and I get the same performance if there were some destruction fighting against us.

wait wait wait.  let me get this straight.  Jobs are on the line because the game had a good launch, and the developers are fixing issues that the customers are bringing up????

    Huh?

So by being a good company they're going to lose their jobs?

game had an amazing launch and ive run into hardly any problems. Most of the people actually playing (not regurgitating posts here after reading things elsewhere) will tell you the same.

    Or maybe you are lying?

In any case, I find it ironic that you made a topic called "Forcing AA and AF Works! Make WAR use MORE of your GPU" then complain about slideshow FPS.

Warhammer has had a far smoother launch than WoW had. WoW was full of bugs, end game wasn't finished, and most talent trees were useless or just plain broken.

Dude the game has performance issues end of story. Setting forced anti aliasing helps a little but the problem is still there. People put the game away until this problem will be fixed. Whats this thing about people stalking eachothers post anyway?? That is sad.. dont you feel disgusting when you do that?

Yeah, that is a problem Mythic never solved in DAOC and it persists today in every rvr fight.  It's actually pretty pathetic.  Sadly, window dragging has become a skill needed in order to compete for some people.

Stop with the bullshit, I have run with a 35 man warband against an equal size Destruction warband. After the 2 or 3 seconds of harcore hitching when 30 people ran into my view, it ran very smooth.

    STOP WHINING!

I kind of tend to differ on that opinion.

WoW had major database lag issue because every (yes every single one) server was packed beyond recommended levels.

Which is something WAR doesn't have a problem with atm.

The main issue most people had when WoW launched was population related...   After that cleared up the other stuff was easier to notice.

On a general basis they launched in about the same condition.  DAoC actually had a better launch than either...

I don't know what the OPs motives are but this topic reads like he's been dying for something bad to latch on to and this attempt was just grasping at straws. The games had a great launch and the staff are continuing to work on problems that arrise. I don't see the problem.

Regarding frame rates, I have had some slowdown when things get really busy inside a keep. It can be bad when the rooms full. I'm not running on anything close to latest hardware though. Overall the games performance is good.

Now I have seen it all.  A post putting devs fixing bugs and making a game better in a NEAGTIVE light.  If you want to whine about the game then whine about it but seriously, calling them out for fixing bugs and improving the game is just kinda...well...dumb....

WAR had a great launch and I have had virtually 0 problems. The only launch that was smoother was LOTRO. Some folks are having issues but I think it is the vocal minority.

Yea probably,  if you look at any poll in this forum it is always positives reviews. I have no idea what the OP is talking about or what kind of stuff he smoke.

Tell me something...what mmo are you playing right now?  I will bet almost anything that it had just as many problems, or more, when it first launched.  WAR has had one of the best launches of any mmo to date.  I'm usually willing to give mmo's a few months to sort themselves out before I come down too hard on them.  WAR has been out for 2 weeks now.  2 weeks.  If these problems still exist in a few months then all the criticism will be valid.

I have seen this type of response very recently in another MMO that just had a launch. It is not healthy and you might aswell realize that things are not exactly topp after patch 1.01.

I am ex-WAR player now. I am playing Age of Conan and it is quite fun with all the latest changes. AoC kind of had the same launch that WAR. Everybody was really happy in the first 2-3 weeks and then as people started to realize that low FPS and grey map was not going to be patched away very soon, people started to get very loud. AoC did not really clean up till 3 months after launch. I kind of see the same faith for WAR. It is just the way MMO launches seem to go these days.

There most definitely is some sort of code issue on Mythic's end, and has been recognized as such. I personally run with a 9600GT 512mb, 3.5gb, AMD 4000+ 2.8ghz and this game runs worse than Vanguard.
