I heal everyone in the same scenario as me, even the stupid lazy healers who are too busy doing their gimped DPS. I don't grow angry and jaded when people complain, because I can just ignore them. I won't stop healing them though, because scenarios are a team effort and if don't heal people, I'll just be punishing myself by not helping my team win.
Sure, I get lots of people who cry for heals once they get focused down by 5 guys (what do you expect? I would be OP if I could out heal 5 guys with 2 HoTs). Do you know what I do to these people? I just point at them and laugh at their futility. Then I rez them.
The people that harass healers typically have never played one.
I'll disagree with that. I play a healer and I do a good job keeping my team alive.
It makes me angry when I try to play anything BUT a healer, and I am backed up by incompetent healers.
Seriously.. It's not hard.
QFT
The only reason I like to play my RP is because when I do, we win most of the time. I'm not pretending to be an elite player, but I think we've all been in a scenario where a healer or two DID THIER JOB and it made it so much easier to win.
There is nothing more frustrating than being anything but a healer and loosing because one or two people choose not to do their job. Yeah, its your right to play how you want, but please roll a different class.

I got my first complaint the other day, after I had just got pounded by 8 Destruction and was ressing at the respawn area since no one wanted to run in and go after the Bauble holder.
QQer: "Can I get a heal?"
Me: "No"
I got a little ticked, when he continued to reply, told him to shut up.......he claimed he was "asking nicely" so I explained to him how annoying the healers is ONLY going to get him on my mental "Do not heal" list.
And frankly he was a Shadow Warrior, which if they aren't friends are low on my list of healing priorities.
I rarely get to go in solo anymore, my priorities are my fellow guildies + other healers + Ironbreakers. After that come Swordmasters and people that I know do High DPS (Bright Wizard/Witch Hunter generally). After that come the other random squishy DPSers.
I've played a squishy DPS before in other games, and I've played a healer before too. When I played a squishy DPS, I did NOT expect heals from someone who is healing the entire raid group (as I do - not just my party). When I got them it was a bonus.....and I took the time to emote or say "thanks". The few random thank yous I've got in this game were noticed, and yes that did bump them up on my priority list lol. But again - I surely do my best to heal everyone, however there have been plenty of times where I'm the only one healing and a lot of people are taking damage. All I can do is my best and hope to continually improve.
Should you heal everyone even if there not in your group: yes.
But do you have to: No
Are you a bad healer for only supporting your group and not your team: No
Every healer ive known (even me included) are touchy, egotistical control freaks. If you dont see the classic you better do this or im not going to heal you. You know you dont have a healer in the area, that healer is a bot, or someones trying out the class.
Back in tier one I told people I wouldnt heal them cause they were naked. They would get pissy and say how low lvl gear is useless ..yadda ydadda...
But I dont care, if your naked I aint healing you.

Everything is dependent upon the situation. Being a destruction player healing is something that just does not happen, for the most part. When it does I almost fall out of my chair.
Here's the thing. I am a tank. My job is to get everyone's attention, kill squishies and try and keep healers alive. When healers heal me, I will tend to throw a guard on one and do what I can to keep that healer alive. More often than not though it just doesn't happen. Most healers believe it is everyone else's job to keep them alive while they heal themselves and pretend to be a dps class.
Hell, I have seen healers spend all their time healing sorcs rather than a tank, makes absolutely no sense to me except sorcs (and I imagine bws) do more damage when their magic buffer thing is full (for sorcs its their dark magic) this ofcourse causes a backlash. So the healer keeps healing them so they get a crap load of renown and participation while sorcs get to do all the damage they want.
When I see this sort of thing going on I will let the healers and sorcs tank. When they bitch they go on ignore. Quite simple really. If you, as a healer, expect to live long enough to do anything, you best take care of your tanks. Otherwise go roll order, k thanks
In the past few weeks, once I really started to get how to effectively heal in this game, I have not had a single complaint, or even heard someone beg for a heal. Not once in dozens of hours of Scenarios. Often, I'm hearing people say "Who ever has been healing me, thank you", or "Great Healz people".
I usually sympathise with healers and the whining they sometimes have to deal with in MMORPGS. However, this is a game where player skill pays off exponentially in healing capability. It can be pretty obvious when someone is a bad healer.
If you are getting multiple complaints, I hate to break it to you, but you may just be the problem.
BTW, I always heal my entire Scenario Warband, party is irrelavent. I also don't care what class someone is. I'm juggling heals based on the second by second situation. Occassionally, a squishy who isn't playing smart will find themselves low on a priority list, but only because I see health going down too quickly to save at a time when there are healing priorities elsewhere.
I've only excluded a person from my healing rotation once and that was a Rank 11 Magus who was very obviously there to farm points with next to zero contribution on their own part.
Problem is everyone has to do their job...I am trying to heal next thing I know I am being pounced on...I am spending more time running around healing myself...then there's the naked "actors"...and those who afk in senarios (I am glad they are dealing with those). Frustrating to say the least.

I use to heal sorcs early lvls but Ive given up since then. No point to it. I had a WH pop up with barely half health and went straight for a Sorc with full health.
So I pop the shield, HoT and spam my DH. Hoping to keep her alive long enough to kil him. But what does the sorc do she runs and gives him her back. All she had to do was throw a few bolts at him and he woulda been dead.
I swear BW are suicidal and Sorcs are afraid of there own shadow.
Actually, I sort of lied. There is ONE exception I make as to who I do not heal, and that is all the people who leave the scenario party to rake in all the exp and renown for themselves. Such selfishness shall not go rewarded. Atleast not by me.

They do it for the ToK (going naked in RvR). I do it too but never in scenarios. I do it in open field rvr and I dont group, neither I complain to anyone for not helping me. It takes me a few minutes to get the ToK credits and I do it in T1.
I think doing it in scenarios would be disrespectful for the other realm mates. Thats the reason why I dont do it.
For me it all depends on who is the scenario. Being an archmage I dont have all my points in the healing line. I also have about half in the debuff line.
What I always do in the begining of the scenario is look to see how many Archmages, rune priests and warrior priests we have in the group. If there is at least one other healer in my group I will change my tactics from healing being the first priority, to being the guy who debuffs the destruction tanks, then stealing the action from the healers and making their heals 50% less effective. Its funny seeing myself get targeted after I throw the debuff that shows it raining over the tanks heads. If Im the only healer in my group I become alot less aggresive, hang in the back and heal everyone as good as I can.
Another good thing to do at the begining of a scenario is look at your opposing team and tell everyone in your group the names of the healers so they know who to attack first.
If they are level 6 or lower, I don't care. They are doing it for tome unlocks and except for tanks any benefit from armor is completely minimal, especially when you consider how fast these people level to 6 doing only scenarios on a populated server.
Higher than level 6, I have a problem. Armor starts to make a difference and they should have access to decent stuff just from the renown vendors.
Even then, I don't single them out for no heals. I do lower priority on people who's health drops too quickly to keep up with or just too quickly to put ahead of someone else in need of healing, but that's on a second by second, situational basis.
Maybe I'm just a rare healer. I try hard to never alter my play in a negative manner in reaction to the actions of others. Why let anyone drag me down? If we fail, at least I know I did my best.
its as bad as men playing girl chars cause they "dont want to stare at a mans ass all day". i dont stare at my chars ass, i play. i wish the kids would just go back to w..........all hell. everyone knows the rest.

What are your opinion of people who play elves? I mean, both sexes look female. . . I play the real female elves because the males are just so dang ugly and girlish.
A little OT, but man, does it matter why someone plays a class or sex? As long as they do thier job right?

Everyone knows that people play elves to look fabulous (me included). Shooting rainbows out of the tip of your staff and then doing a flamboyant flourish. What's there not to like?
I don't even worry about it anymore. People are going to complain when they die because they want to put the blame on someone else. People just love to complain. I was in a scenario healing everyone that needed it. I then got a message in party chat saying "stop healing and just nuke everyone you see". So its just impossible to please everyone. So why try?
when you jump into a scenario or wander over to open field RvR alone, you are entitled to nothing.
This is the last resort way to do the RvR in my opinion.
You should be RvRing on both fronts with a team of friends or guild mates. This way everyone should know their role, know what they should be doing, and its much more fun for all.
But yeah, jump into any RvR alone and dont expect to have a smooth running team, although it has happend before, just i wouldnt expect to be entitled to anything going this route.
I'm sorry I disagree. In scenarios I always heal everyone around, not just the people in my group. And I understand that people ripping into because they died is annoying, going around not healing people on purpose does no good for your team or your realm.
And just a little FYI whenever I heal everyone I can in a scenario I usually end up highest amount healed which means I usually end up with major EXP and renown.
"God, please help us sinful children of Ivalice.."
Healers should heal who they are supposed to heal, and the players who's play styles include aggressive behavior shouldn't expect the healers to lose focus on the main line.
On the other hand those times a healer or two went out of their way to keep me alive while being much more aggressive than my class intended.. boy did we have an impact.. good times.
Anyway if you want to be healed, keep on the good side of the healers, and if some go out of their way to keep you alive, be sure to praise their healing, give credit where credit is due
Being vindictive and purposely not healing people can hurt the team effort. Yeah, you prove a point, but at the expense of what is good for the team as a whole.
Don't get me wrong, when I play the RP I will heal all that I can during the scenario but my guildies get priority heal. one of the reasons for this is we have vent so he keeps me updated on his health and it works out great. I know about the party tab and use it. I just got out of a scenario where I was the only healer in Mortkain and we only lost 400-500 and I was going up against 3 shamans.
There are a few people I won't heal because of bad mouthing, others I try to keep my Hot's up at all times and my chain heal constantly flowing. My comment earlier about not being protected is not a complaint, I mention it because once I'm attacked I cannot heal because my casts are interrupted and I die (where nobody gets healed).
I have played healing classes in MMO for about five year now; and I'm suprised that I very rarely get people complaining about not getting healed -just lucky I guess.
Somebody had a go at me for stupid play the other day, basically I ended up having a one-one with my Priest and a Chosen. It was a good fight, right until the assist train ran over me Now tactically, the guy was right, fall back and protect the objective - however I was having fun. One of the things I love about this game is that you can be a healing class but you have other options and thing to do.
I suspect that this game is going to liberate "career" healers from their narrow box of life bars to the greater MMO world. Expect less heals
