My main problem with AoC is missing content. I liked the game at lvl 30-55 but it goes downhill from there. Endgame is boring. There is almost nothing to do, and the things you can do are boring.
There are also many other problems with AoC but missing content is the biggest one.
I recommend people wait for 6 months and try the game when it's finished and has all the content they promised.
How can you rate a game so low without explaining why?
Neither the 1's or the 10's are being honest.
Personally I think the game is a 5 but it's very difficult to rate an mmo. There is a good few weeks of fun to be had with AoC (as long as you are on a populated server) and if I brought a non mmo and played it for multiple hours a day for 3 weeks before getting bored I'd give it a much higher score than a 5.
However mmo's are different and in return for looking over it's issues you expect much greater longitivity and it's just not there with AoC at the moment. The plans are there to put it right though, the new crafting armors is 3.0 will be nice but the game is so lacking at endgame I just can't see them having enough time to put it right. AoC has the problem of fast leveling to endgame, little to do when you get there and little desire to roll an alt since you will bascially be doing the exact same thing you did the first time other then the early destiny quests.

Somewhat true; however, patch 3.0 will be adding the first part of the PvE content patch with a new lvl 55+ zone. A new 80 zone, and a new all level zone (OT commons) are supposed to be out before the end of the fall season. These changes, coupled with the addition of the criminal system, AoC wil be a whole new game. I'd say that AoC will last just as long as WAR will.

They have a huge ammount of bored level 80's since June, they have focused on improveing low level dungeons etc, a new 55+ zone is nice but won't change anything, it'll make leveling a bit nicer and making alts a bit nicer but won't fix the problems.
A new 80 zone will help somewhat, but untill it's nearly ready and on the test server any dates given by funcom should be viewed with the highest suspision, we need more reasons to pvp though, towers, resource fights etc etc, a new 80 zone will just spread the already poor population out further lowering pvp even more. Funcom needs to embrace and focus on it's pvp because focusing on pve isn't going to save it, the WoW expansion is about to release and if you want pve dungeons, raids, uber loot that will be the place to be, funcom can't compete on that level so they need to focus on their niche.
Make the citys more worthwhile, add drunken brawling, bring back npc city seigeing, add social clothes for the roleplayers, add meaningful reasons to head to the borderzones outside of seige time, like towers, mines, buff points for your guild, add a pvp feat tree to go alongside the pvp levels, more minigames and cross server minigames, make it so at anytime of day or night you can log in and be pvping quickly and for god sake get the server merges done fast, it really has to be done before the WoW expansion launch.
I already said they have plans in place to put it right but it all seems so far away that I can't see it coming in time to save the game, untill we see the financial report in November though the future of funcom is mostly speculation, if they don't make a profit this quarter (and I don't think there is any chance they will) then they are in alot of trouble because q4 revenue is going to be much lower than q3 (they won't have the good july month and decentish august month) but costs are going to be very similar.
Did you come to post here because of Worgpests call to arms on the aoc forums? if so remember to report me as he suggests.

Just as you are doing on the official AoC forum, I believe you are placing too much faith in a company that has proven time and again that they can't meet a deadline. The above is your best guess, and not something set in stone by anyone from FC.
Additionally, "Patch 3.0" isn't going to make AoC a "whole new game". It addresses a few longstanding issues, and tweaks a few things, but fails to make the foundational level changes necessary to give the game mass appeal, and make it actually fun (for me at least).
It's nice to see the AoC Forum propaganda machine intentionally making its way here, though.

Lets see, instanced world with linear game play. Annoying combo moves that only get more annoying as you level, you cant explain away why leveling requires more and more buttons to press to pull off a move. Crafting sucks, gathering sucks. Crafting mastery is tied to having a T3 city pretty much making you HAVE to guild to be a crafter and insuring that people that dont have jobs or a life are going to be the ones that can have a T3 city and the best crafters. The AH is a hunk of crap and there are few if any people to play with when you do logon.
I could go on and on, but Im touching on a few points here that actually matter.
Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
- Feels like a linear single player game, once played to max level if you re-roll you are doing the exact same crap over again. In other MMOs you at least have different starting areas, here it is all the same.
- Crafting and Gathering is pointless and boring. Equipment is meaningless and so are stats, why even have them in the first place (+0.1% armor yay!)
- Meaningless PvP. Restrictive and boring PvP at endgame.
- Endgame PvE is almost non existing and the little that is there is boring and/or broken and on a silly timer (WTF?)
- No sense of accomplishment all throughout the game, no feeling of having an impact on the world.
- Combat gets more and more annoying as you level up and you have to press more and more buttons for a simple ability.

Did you play the game? I do absolutely not understand what you mean by linear. How can a game with consequences worked into PvP, players can build their own cities, go to war on other cities and so on be linear. It is totally player controlled. This just does not make sence.

Because the sieging of keeps is not something the majority of guilds and players can participate in, FC missed the opportunity to give smaller, less powerful guilds something to be able to do at their levels. They also missed the opportunity to allow GvG activities that could be engaged in more regularly than scheduled sieges.
If you're not a part of a large guild, with the ability to attack or hold a battlekeep, you get a guild tag, and that's about it.
This is just part of what makes the AoC experience such a shallow one.

Sorry I've just never played a game I would consider a one. Even games I didn't like had some form of redeemable quality to them. I mean did you reach 80? If so why would you play a one long enough to do so ?

Yeah, all those sound awesome on paper. Too bad they suck in reality.
You said in an other post that you have been playing for 2 weeks. So I guess you haven't seen much of the "players going war on other cities"? .
Like I said before, give it time. You will learn to dislike the game like just like the 90% of gamers out there.

I got the game at launch, played for a month or so and quit when the shit started to hit the fan. The patch that made you perma knocked down or completely invisible, pets didnt obey commands, and all that was the final straw for me.
Another month later, I read they implemented the pvp system... sorta. I used my buddy pass to see if the game was any better. The consequence system isnt in place yet so ganking is EVERYWHERE!!! but its fun to actually get pvp experience. So I resub'ed.
I'm really enjoying myself again, all the problems that made me quit have been fixed. But! recently after the mail fixing patch or whatever the fuck it was, has seemed to cause horrible constant lag spikes to the game. Everyone is getting them, and Funcom has denied that it's their servers causing it.
So, rating wise:
Graphics: Of course are top notch, best graphics out there 10
Sound: Awesome sound, epic music 10
Technical: So so, was fine until last patch made the lag storm come
Quests/Raids: Fun! I havent had a memory leak yet during, and my graphics dont turn into pokadots!
Community: Decent, there are a lot of nice people willing to give you a hand, or RP. Still a crap load of ass hats and ass clowns though too.
Overall I really like AoC again, I've come to grips with what FC did and how many people are left after the shattering. I'm gonna stick it out and Conan is gonna rock n roll here soon.
I gave it a 1 to balance out all the fanboy 10/10.
Otherwise I would have given it a 5/10. AoC has some good things but if you look past the graphics, it's just a bugged, mediocre game that gets old really fast.
In the bad shape it is now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

There's only 11% who voted a 10, compared to 27% who voted a 1. How is that counter balancing anything? A five would be fair, hell thats what my rating on this site came out as, 5.6 to be exact. I have no problem with voting a one if that's how you feel about the game, but I knew people were doing it just for the reaction. This just shows how screwed everything is on this site, and why ratings mean nothing. To many people vote based on an agenda, that's not fair to those who seek reliable information in the slightest bit.
You say you're here to inform people of the state of the game, yet admittedly give false information. You don't see the irony in that?

Gave it a 7 myself as well. It's not the greatest game I've played, it certainly wasn't the worst.

Like I said before, give it time. You will learn to dislike the game like just like the 90% of gamers out there.
Yeah that's what I was told a million times, guess what it never happened. Did you vote it a one as well?

Yeah I can see that, though I never gave it a shot.

I gave it a 10, I'm having a lot of fun with AoC after playing LotRO and WAR.
I give AoC about an 8 or 9 tops.
