I gave it 6/10. I would have given it 5/10 if not for the quest with the cooked human head in the pot.

I think it show the same as any other poll, that people want to see the results and just answer what ever (certainly 1 if you are a WAR fan and have not even tested the game ).

No see I gave it a 1/10. Below is why.

I was playing LOTRO at the time that I heard that CONAN was about to launch. Being that LOTRO was damn family oriented and that you could be banned at the drop of a hat, or stalked by a creepy GM sending you whispers saying you borke the rules out of the blue, I was looking for something a little more ADULT oriented.

So I heard about Conan and this is what I did :

I built two brand new PC's to handle the VISTA ( CRAPPY ) OS so that I could run this game in DX10( A feature touted and promised since before launch that has yet to make it in the game today). That cost me about 2500$, maybe 2750 now that I think about my video card being upgraded, and some time.  I then pre-ordered the game - 2 copies of the collectors edition - with tax and shipping that came to over 200$.  2 (6) months subscriptions that ran almost 160$ total with tax and all that.

When the game arrived we were under the impression that we were assured access to the preview. I logged on and registered my account on a tuesday and was able to download the client which took about 39 hours to download, even though I pay for 8mbs and can download even free games like ryzom at about 1MB/sec.  My housemate didnt have time to register her copy until thursday and so found herself locked out of the preview access, something that was not explained to anyone clearly as being a possibility.

Then when that ended we were in the game and playing.  We had CTD,OOM, instancing problems, grouping issues, sound issues etc etc etc..... Shortly after she began playing, my housemate began to notice that her dps as a female assasin sucked.  She went to the forums and began to ask questions about the attack speed issue.  When she asked questions, she was openly flamed by fanbois and then when attempting to respond to these people telling her she couldnt play her class etc, a fanboi moderator came around and aggreed with the fanbois and sanctioned her account.

As we progressed through the game she continued to post about this issue only to have her posts closed just after 18 fanbois jumped in to insult her and call her crazy at one point.  Now in August they finally admitted they had a problem and that it would take a long time to fix.

Add in the nightly 17 crash to desktop, the refusal of FUNCOM to admit that there was a MEMORY error and their intentional unleashing of fanbois on the forums to silence people bringing to light VERY REAL issues with the game, we decided to leave game....

So if I post here or anywhere else and I dont sound happy, maybe this explains SOME of what we went through with this game. PROBLEM ARISES : POST : Ignored delete or denied. POST AGAIN : BANNED. Come back to the forums a month later: Funcom has finally admitted you were right all along but will only say a fix is COMING somewhere down the road.

The PVP patch was promised in June and delivered in the latter half of september and that was only HALF of a hastily assembled system, the other half IS NOT IN THE GAME YET. This game was marketed as a GROUNDBREAKING PVP Experience at launch!!!  What doesnt anyone understand about people being pissed at Funcom? Ive read other people posting almost identical situations and they too have every right to be pissed.

I might add that this is ONLY THE VERY SURFACE of the issues I had with this company.

So you blame Funcom for your own stupidity in spending a bunch of money?? Did they ever tell you? I didnt think so. Maybe start placing the blame with the real Failcom(you).

The only thing I saw FC claim was orginal and ground breaking was the combat system and seiging (dx10 to me isn't a really  ground breaking). Both were in the game and seiging was broken. The PvP system they purposed wasn't promised. I saw all the interviews with gault and EE. Every single one of them said "we hope to do x." However, PvP levels and an eventual PvP reward system was promised, both of which are in the game now (late tho). I wasn't fooled, but I know many people were, but I don't balme FC for it.

You can talk about a game even though you are not currently playing. Most "haters" here, including myself, have been playing AoC for many months, and just quit a couple of weeks ago because game got boring and there was no meaningful endgame. Does this mean we are not allowed to discuss about the game? No.

These recent patches haven't changed the core of the game, and that is why many of us "haters" know AoC much better then some new guy who has been playing for 3 weeks and is level 41.

This "you don't even play the game!" is basic fanboi answer number one. It's dumb, please stop using it.

I've played the game for the last 5 months, since launch quit this week. I gave AOC overall a 2. Here is why.

    Ratings 1-10 10 Awesome, 1 Sux ass

    The Good

There are really only two features of this game that make you want to stay with it.

    1. Beauty of the Graphics For a DX9 game it looks great, it even looks great being any DX, they aren't photo realistic but they are very interesting to look at and if you can pump up the graphics it can be extremely impressive. However it is not DX10 so no 10 here.

    2. Melee Combo System. This is revolutionary, well if not revolutionary it sure is fun. You have to hit some buttons with your left hand while selecting the combo with the mouse with your right. If you stick to just worrying about offense and not rotating your defenses, its very rewarding. It is when you have to worry about which side you are defending on that the controls become to busy. Unfortunately there are some long 4 button combos which really should top out around 2 or 3. That is being fixed in the patch supposedly. The button pressing itself isn't as nice as you'd like, you can't press to fast or too slow or you won't execute the combo even if you only hit the right keys. It shold allow you to hit it about twice as fast as it does now but no faster than that so you could work up to a good skill level. There is more unbalancethough because casters don't have to do any button clicking, they just target you and click the one button to kill you over and over and over and it usually works for them pretty well. You can't hide once you are targeted or go behind a rock, in the water nothing. You just fight or die. Its pretty unfair to set it up that way but that is just the way it is.

    3. Sound, really well done. The ambient music is great, and the sound effects are pretty well done. Obviously a good amount of effort went into this area however the one major flaw of this the voice acting stops right after tortage. The fact that this isn't mentioned in the majority of the reviews for this game lets you know they never even played it past level 20 and reviewed only 25% of the game but gave you scores on the exprience of 100% of it. Big Mistake. Funcom has patched in a very sparse amount of voice acting on some quests outside Tortage but there are no plans to patch 100% voice acting, which they shold have made a priority on a monthly based subscription game.

    The Bad

4.Guild Management, Most players if not all will be in a guild at one point or another. You cannot become the highest crafter level without being a guild with the T3 building for that crafting profession. There is very little incentive for being in a guild however. There is no way to tell who is what type of crafter in a particular guild. There is an inconsistent guild government setup where some have 5 ranks, some have 6, the bottom line is the majority of these require a particularly stupid combination of bank access, invite ability, and kick ability.  Bascially what should happen here is guild master shold have full ability to assign privilidges by rank and create as many ranks as they want. I did a test in my last month of starting a guild on Tyranny and promoting everybody to the rank that has bank access, and also was able to invite and kick players. The guild recruitted pretty fast but one day everybody had been kicked. How sensible is that Funcom?

    Rating:4

    5. Guild Bank Size, Too small, you also are susceptible to having things put into it which you don't want like a player who is an alt for a competing guild can put a single unit of cotton in each of your 50 slots preventing your members from putting in their own stuff. Or it can be easily overwhelmed, guilds with hundreds of members, simply can't put items into a 50 slot bank. There is no easy way for alchemists or gemcutters or armor, weaponsmiths to market their goods, and so it was suggested from launch that it be expanded or mutiple banks be possible to create, or items be limited, or any change at all be made. No action was taken by Funcom

    Rating:3

    6. Customer Service and Support. I'm not even going to go here in depth, all I'll say is they have 18-24 year olds working for them as GM's for free who allow such inconsistent solutions as making a guild come up with 10-15 gold to make extra plans for buildings already built and therefore proving a guild has constructed them in order to get a fucking quest to pass while other GM's to give players who have not a damn thing to show for it creat an entire T3 city for them and their guild. WOW. The mailservice you know 30 day item deletion thing fucked my guidl too once, we had lost about 200-300 items in the mail being sent to the alt, and they told us over the course of 3 weeks they were working on it only to tell us at the end of that 3 weeks everything was lost and there was no record of any of it being there and that they could offer us 200 Granite in exchange for 75-100 gold in lost resources and items the guild has acquired and harvested.

    Rating:2

    7. Harvesting, Sucking Fucks, Fucking Sucks! You play the villager from Age of Empires for 200 units of whatever you are trying to harvest per hour. You literally have to raise about 500,000 total for a T3 city. Who the fuck wants to do that? Throughout history wars have been fought for the resources and the right to build a system to harvest them, not to actually go out with a fucking pick axe and do the harvesting. Even if they were, this is a game which is supposed to be fun. Harvesting which is a primary money generator and primary way to build a city is so fucking lame. It would be one thing if there were naked conan girls doing pole dances while you harvested but no, you its like camping without smores, and being attacked by teenagers every other time you slap a rock.

    Rating:1

    8. Siege, Hey supposed to be great, unfortunately without server merges 75% of servers wont see siege anymore. You also can't have 90% of your players wanting to get in on siege but only about 25% able to which is what you have because in order to get into a siege you have to be in a guild with a T3 keep which literally takes months to do because of, you guessed it, harvesting, which as I aready rated as a 1, FUCKING SUCKS. They also need to fix the annoying fact that you can walk right though walls which cost about 1 Gold per section to put up and 20-25 gold total, to be totally useless lol. They shold also open up Siege to T2 guilds so there is some competition and reason for T3 guilds to stick around and slap around those T2 guilds.

    Rating: 3

    9. Delivery of Product in a Quality Fashion in a Timely Manner. Bascially the only thing they have done, is deliver reasonable performance, good graphics, nice sound, above average combat, and half of a PVP system and the least important half at that. They have yet to deliver on about half a dozen critical issues, and a full dozen major issues, and over 100 suggestions I made which mirrrored things asked for by the community. Basically they are so bad at implementing what players want this game will probably never really be a success measured in terms of money or reputation. Certainly not at the current rate.

    Rating: 0

I gave them a 2 but if I were grading on a curve they'd probably get a 3. Yeah but the average of all those numbers is more like 4 wtf LB? Well the average is yeah, but the weighted average is much lower, meaning nice sound and good graphics are nowhere near as important as a company that backs up what is says its going to deliver, listens to their customers, makes what they want to happen, well happen. That fact alone is why AOC is inexcusably bad in the first place and why improvement in the near or even next 5 months is not very likely.

Hope this helps you guys get it.
