Well with the small team they have, they most certainly can't test the game in house.  And that hot air about them hiring outside testors is exactly that.  If they intend to run a short beta period whether it be closed or open it pretty much tells the rest of us that a lot of the promised features won't make release.  Personally I hope they take their time and have a longer beta period.

They had better get the beta out next week.

Oh and to the uninformed person above talking about Asheron's Call and UO.  Asheron's Call's world was about 5 or 6 times the size of UO's even with the dual worlds.  It also had about 10 times as many dungeons too.

And how do you know it hasnt already started?  They clearly said that they wouldnt be announcing the different phases of beta.

It is funny how blinded some people are baesd on past MMOs and how they handled their dev cycles.

Because no company has ever done things differently than another company in their industry and been successful.  Nope not a single one in the history of the world.  Every company handles things exactly the same and never do things differently.

DF will be ready when the Devs are happy with it and good to go.  They already scraped the project when they werent happy and delayed it.  If you dont have the patience to wait, then simply dont follow it till it releases.

"The monsters are tough. I was looking for a challenge, but these things are just too damn smart." -DF Beta Tester

"If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos

why would they be paying 300 testers  when they could get people to test it for free? And they can only afford a dev team of 30 people. So how are they supposed to afford 300 paid testers?  Again, this makes no sense, and yet you guys believe every word of it.

While im dreaming of a game like darkfall, you have to admit he has a point. It just doesnt add up. Rather aventurine is bsing us or they just arent very smart. Either way it makes me nervous

and no im not a troll, I want DF to come out it looks awesome

Why do you think of only this alternatives ?

Another question  why do  you think , randomly internet people are better Beta testers ? Why those free beta testers didn't could do anything for AoC to be a better game at launch?

Free testers get into beta tests to have game experience prior to game launch, they barely help developers with the game...

Well, I wasnt actually referring to just the whole beta process... but pretty much EVERYTHING they have done.

I agree with you as far as the true motive of 95% of beta testers is to play the game. However in a stress test this is perfectly fine and the testers motive is irrelavant. Im not in total disagreement about how they are handling the testing up til this point. But a few weeks for stress testing for a small group of devs is unwise.

They dont advertise, I mean this is a business right? or is an MMO charity? Im not even gonna get into the may failed beta promises... yes I have followed this game for years and yes I have seen beta right around the corner more then once, and this was when I was still in middle school, im now in college.

Im saying the whole picture, there is alot of red flags being raised. Am I accusing them of anythign bad... I dunno maybe. Maybe all the fanboys are right and this is just some new age development techniques and the game will come out with hardly any issues and everyone will be happy. But I also waited years for dark and light and seen what hype and fanboyism can do.

You have to admit, something just isnt right here

i wish they would launch the game already, then a month for the hype/bashing to die out, then these forums could return to some sort of civility.
