Ah, debate by attack, how novel, how refreshing.

Hey, call em like I see em:

Look at whose breaking libertarian records.  Yes, this is clearly the party of Thomas Jefferson!

Hey, you mean you argue by attack, not "call 'em as you see 'em." Hardly rational behavior.

There are nuts in every party -- that is hardly relevant. Shall we count the nuts and see which party has the most nuts? I hardly think that's productive discussion. That being said, out of the three parties, the Libertarian party Platform has more in common with jeffersonian democcracy than the Republicrats.

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

Plus, George Bush is a liberal. he is a big spender and an internationalist. he only pays lip service to conservative principles, yet he has governed as a liberal. An authoritarian liberal, but a liberal nonetheless.

Well shucks, you beat me to the punch.

Do you want me to discuss the libertarian's silly policies or idealistic jibber-jabber that somehow less is more and increasing inequality will increase equality?

The platform has some interesting planks, that are worth discussing.
The Party itself is a bunch of raving lunatics.  I don't quite know when they took over the asylum, but the modern libertarian party is full of nutjobs.  Remember, I am not citing 'a random' libertarian.  I am citing a libertarian candidate who is predicted to have one of the best showings the party has garnered.  If this is 'unfair' to the party, than everything is unfair to the party except for compliments, because any criticism is 'counting nuts.'  Hey, how many of the Democrats and Republican nuts are doing really well in their race for office?  Troofers have a big foothold there?
