It's nice to see a DF fan on the site that doesn't believe his opinion > everyone else's
Personally i'm going to be Aion because of it's lack of real innovation. Too many games have been released recently with promises of a revolutionary combat system or environment, and it's always ended up just being a silly gimmick used to attract players to the game. WIth Aion, I'm not going to be going into the game with promises of super-innovative blow-your-mind features in my mind just to be let down, what i'm going to see is an incredibly detailed world with amazing art and music, and traditional MMO aspects with alot of polish.
I also like how Aion combines Themepark MMO elements with sandox elements. On one hand, you can take the linear path and just do all the quest and missions you possibly can, or you can head to the abyss where it's a free-for-all, do whatever the hell you want-and-kill anybody you want environment.
I've got nothing against Darkfall though, i'd just need to see videos of people actually playign the game before I could really get interested. All there is at the moment is dev promises and a 17-min video
That's another reason I can't wait for Aion; Beta footage and player feedback has already confirmed that the game I imagined Aion to be is actually how it turned out. I can barely contain my excitement
Errr yeah I'd say Ryzom already beat out Darkfall in the sandbox and mob AI and con system department..
To tell the truth we just dont know yet, but it doesnt matter wich one has the better sandbox aspect, we can only say and agree that "sandbox gameplay" is not a new feature or exacly innovative.
The funny thing is, I listed negative and positive aspects, for some reason only the negative aspects were mentioned, but the bottom line is , the statement of innovation has flaws, we cant call a game innovative because it is a sandbox or because it is not.
Some details I listed about Darkfall are very positive to tell the truth, just not innovative or unique features.
I realized people is calling innovative a game that is hyped as innovative and revolutionary and not for the real aspects of the game, well, the "down to earth" hype Aion has is probably one of the main reasons for its upcoming success.
Unfortunately it is hard to talk about negative and positive aspetcs of games around here, as usually most people already label themselves as fans and any realistic but negative comment can hurt someones feelings even when it is not a personal argumment or "attack".
There is a huge difference between rational comparison and arguments about games and personal attacks.
My point of view about Darkfall´s community was not an offense, "agressive and upleasant" is far less harsh than "bunch of neanderthals", term used by MMORPG.com to categorize Age of Conan community, some game communities even like to have a more agressive posture and fame, we all know that forumfall´s community was elitist and usually rejected people thet consider "carebear".
Talking about Aion, I just hope the game community develop in a better way than Guild Wars and Lineage 2 communities, usually NCsoft game´s communities (except COH/V) are more immature and agressive if we compare to EQ2, VG, DDO communities, I hope the same doesnt happen with Aion.
First of all, just because a new MMORPG doesn't have features that are considered new, doesn't necessarily mean it's not innovative.
I'm sure most of us have not played every MMORPG there is. Most of us have probably played one, two, or three MMORPGs seriously. I've only played two seriously, and those were Silkroad Online and Knight Online. None of these two games have air PvP. None of them have alot of customization opportunity, and that is enough for me to play Aion.
I don't know about most people, but graphics for me play a HUGE role in deciding which game to buy/play. If I'm spending 5-10 hours a day on a game (being the RPG freak I am.) then you can be damn sure I'm not going to spend that time to look at Runescape graphics.
Aion brings something new and refreshing to the table for me. I understand that some people have played games such as City of Heroes/Villians and Perfect World, but I haven't. So the concept of flying and such is an innovative feature for me.
Besides all that, even if Aion didn't have flying as a key feature, I would probably still play it. The same reason people decide to move to another MMORPG after they have played a game for two years and got bored with it. Regardless if it has "innovative" features, there is always something different and unique about each game, so I can live with that.
Just a quick note - the wings aren't there for show. Aerial combat is incorporated as a stretegic gameplay factor.
I really hope they incorperate it well. This game does have potential, but like others have said, there is a lot of cooky-cutter, type stuff to it. I am looking forward to seeing how both DF And Aion end up, and i will not make a "Buy" untill i have a good scoop on both of them.
After they release, I am going very carefully on this one, Because i love the features and promises of DF, but even if they get all those features, how "truly enjoyable" all those features set on can seem fast, or "SLOW" in some cases. With Aion, well.. I dont like grinding so i hope it has good questing progressions. To tell the truth i am in limbo here, i love the art direction of Aion, and i dont care if people say its too lovey dovey, it is still way more intense than hello kitty online which i will not go near. And I also like the art direction on DF.
Unfortunantly i am the kind of person who loves to play MMO's, I love to gank people mercilessly, but i also like being able to relax in a game and just chat and have fun. Both games seem like they will offer this, but to which extent is what i will find out after release. Anyways ill be keeping track of both. And just as reference for anyone on forums who are having this "your game sucks". Not everyone thinks that way, just an impatient biased "Anonymous hungry" web userbase who visciously defend there game, the majority of mmo players only give a crap about what they are interested in, and for my case it is both aion and darkfall.
This is not a flame or anything, Me - I am a Darkfall Fan, so you know where I come from. Having said that, I would like to ask you the Aion fans this: -Why are you going nuts over a new MMO that really isn't that innovative? If you look at it, this
Well, no one goes nuts because a MMO is innovative, people enjoy it for how it plays, looks and feels.
Take Darkfall.
PvP full loot, not innovative.
Delays, lies and promisses, not innovative.
Goofy, cliche and funny collored art style, not innovative.
FPS gameplay, not innovative.
No zones/intances, not innovative.
Bad animations, not innovative.
Ships, not innovative.
Siege weapons, not innovative.
Agressive and unpleasant community, not innovative.
... but Im sure you have your reasons, right? Same goes for people that is waiting for Aion.
Remember, winged combat and lore in Aion, both innovatives.
...
Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are several games out there with a "Lore" and "Winged combat", Namely, Vanguard, WoW, Perfect World, FlyFF, Ace online, Also D&L Online, and maybe a few others to mention, One could argue the innovation found in DF is the fact that they basically have every single innovation of a MMO all put into one, "If they pull it off".

You are not bursting my bubble, I have no fantasy or illusions about Aion.
I already said about the flying combat, as COH has it, we cant call it totally innovative.
Im not talking about having a Lore, I think you didnt get the point, Lore in Aion is a bit more Unique than the typical fantasy MMO. Maybe you just dont care for this kind of detail.
I disagree about the "every single innovation of a MMO is in DF", it is good to have one more sandbox, but there is nothing revolutionary about it.
Why I support DF: Simply put it's going against the current MMO norm of WoW, WAR, and from the looks of it, eventually Aion as well.
I totally agree, most of DF's features have been iterated at one point or another. But the fact is, there are hardly any games being released any time soon or in recent past with all these features and in that sense the overall game experience should be 'revolutionary'.
How these features will actually end up working out, we won't know for at least a few weeks. This is probably the most frustrating thing about DF (lack of info, vids, PR) and keeps me skeptical of the game still.
Aion has some potentially compelling features like the graphics and possibly cool combat with flying (using 'better lore' as an argument is kind of weak, the DF backstory is interesting imo). However, one could argue that DF's graphics are solid still (pretty objective) and more importantly, this will allow massive battles to take place on average computers. Granted this is pretty much speculation thus far but it is based on common sense. The fact that I also value gameplay a lot more than graphics (hence why I still play on some old-school UO free shards) is obviously a factor here. Some of the animations definitely need work in DF though, that's a given.
In the end, I'm not too worried about them competing with each other since one is totally catering to a niche community and the other is trying to take a bite out of the mainstream MMO genre. That's also why I feel super-nerdy for writing out so much, w/e I'm bored. Hell, if it doesn't turn out to be too much of a grind (speculation based on developer), I may give Aion a whirl.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Self-confessed DF fanboy. Finally a real ****ing MMO.
Why don't we all go play RTS and forget about this "Aion" crap... who needs it anyway?
LOL! JK but if you a lot of innovative features these days are not actually in the realm of rpgs, but in RTS. A big example of this is End War, but there are a few other games and series that have shown themselves to be a step away from the mold.
Company of heroes, Homeworld/H2, the total war series and even starcraft when it firsts came out. Looking for completely new and innovative ideas for MMOs is hard, because of the sheer number of players MMOs require, one person's trash is another person's treasure. With a smaller crow to cater to, RTS have bigger room for improvement.
It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. -Quote Isoke(VN boards)
To the OP I want to thank you for comming here and actually asking about AION in a mature and respectful way but I also want to ask you why must a game be innovative? Cant the present formala work if they actually took it and actually made a very well polished and fun game. This is what NCSoft has done with AION and thats why we like it.
Personally, a game doesn't have to be "revolutionary" to attract me to it.
It just has to have the right level of balance, stability, depth of character customization and development and interesting content to keep me entertained.
Graphics are nice and I certainly appreciate them, but they're not the "end-all". Great graphics might attract you... but it's gonna be short-lived if what's underneath is weak, broken or half-baked.
So... to sum it up, I'm really interested in Aion despite it not bringing anything amazingly revolutionary to the genre because, frankly, it doesn't have to for me to enjoy it.
P.S. Kudos to the OP for coming here, as a fan of DF and rising above the usual hostility and aggression that seems to have become synonymous with that game's fanbase (and, from my experience, not undeservedly). So... maybe you'll rub off on them
"If you just step away for a sec you will clearly see all the pot holes in the road, and the cash shop selling asphalt..." - Mimzel on F2P/Cash Shops
I see your point, and that is why I think DFO is revolutionary, "the overall package" bakes all those features into one game. And should they succeed in making them all work together, it would make for one hellova game..
craynlon:
Of course a new game does not have to be innovative. It might be just me that have grown so tired of the "standard" features of late (haven't played a mmo in over a year). I get a foul taste in my mouth just thinking of how many laps of the tread-mill I have done ;-).
Trissa:
I agree, the games are not mutually exclusive. Granted, I am not planning to play Aion, but I don’t see why you cannot play both. I know the DFO-community takes a giant dump on anyone confessing to be playing WoW, yet alot of DFO-community members confess to doing so.
Deathstrike2, Neyon:
Not everyone can afford the "latest and the greatest", I have a nice rig (just played FarCry2 on full settings without a hitch) but not everyone have that. The problem the "high end machine" brings to the table is that even though you can still play a game (at low settings) it will look like crap. Just look at AoC, you can play it with a "mediocre" machine but, with a game that have its graphics as a selling point, will you?
One common argument to why people are leaving that game is that is highly instantiated and that peoples machines cannot run it at good settings. The need for a high end machine is OK in 1 player FPS games, since you won't by that game if you can’t run it. But an MMO needs a huge number of players to become fun.
N1ghtsta1ker:
Thank you, I try. And I understand what you say about the disappointments of late ;-) let’s hope there is a developer out there that can actually bring a new MMO to the market WITHOUT fucking it up.. ;p
legend_hero:
I agree with you, the innovation does not lie within each feature but in the package as a whole.
denshing:
You are the sensible voice around here. One should not order a game before one have read reviews. However I must confess, I have been sucked in with the promises of DFO to the extent where I would pre-order the game without hesitation and without any proof that it will be a good game. I am usually like you a cautious person, but DFO got me ,-)
Mazer14:
I totally agree with you.
Korvenus, WSIMike :
When I am curious that is what i do, I ask questions. I am also a forumfaller and I flame away on those forums, but I keep that attitude where it belongs; at forumfall ;-) (someone should really write a book about froumfall..)
As I said to craynlon; I am just sick and tired of those standard features that EQ put on the market, and that have become the norm through WoW. I want something new and fresh, something that breaks the dullness of grinding and raiding on "Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday".
***************************** I have nothing clever to say.
nileq, It has been quit refreshing to hear your words around here, You might not play Aion anytime soon but don't let that stop you from posting here. Have a good time in Darkfall.
Ya, both games have potential, I know i think the idea of massive battles on DF sounds awsome too. But i wouldnt just strike off aion, i have seen PVP videos that look like each side has 150+ people in a giant mass going against another 150+, "IN CLOSE QUARTERS! " it is so rediculous to the point I would seriously half to toggle off guild names and player names just to get the text out of my eyes.
So yeah, I would deffinently expect some enormous battles in Aion as well. Either way, I am going to take the DF developers on there offer of "Free trial" because they said they want everyone to try the game before they buy it, Hell even if 99% of you in this thread are guarenteed to pick up Aion, i wouldnt let that discourage you from taking a quick peek at DF when its released, And I really hope Aion has a free trial as well when its released.
If i had to show where i am at in deciding between DF and Aion, it would look something like this
This is not a flame or anything, Me - I am a Darkfall Fan, so you know where I come from. Having said that, I would like to ask you the Aion fans this: -Why are you going nuts over a new MMO that really isn't that innovative? If you look at it, this is tha first try for the "korean-gringer-makers" to make a western-style MMO, so this probably isn't "just another korean grinder", granted. BUT having read over the featurelist, it really dosen't bring anything new and innovative to the table (if you don't count "angel-wings" as innovative feature..)
It has nice graphics (techinically that is, the art style is not for me). But those grand graphics will practically guarantee that you will have to have a high-end rig, and lots and lots of instancing. Witch in my book (and I think most gamers book) is a very bad thing. So the only "new" thing I can see, here are buffed (glossy) graphics and... wings? please fill me in if there are any other innovative features in Aion. Regards
I dont think u are a flaming... U are more of a rather than a flamer...
Anyway the setting looks diferent.. no more orcs.. dwarf and elves around... and they probably have some strange stuff on it...
Besides, Darkfall isnt that great innovative at all... oblivion did it better before.. and fallout too...
and dont read features for something new, there is never going to be something new... everything this is already created and used...
Yeah darkfall is a bunch of condense vaporware...
AION have their few things over there and there... is hard to make something new this days... because all ideas are already exploited, and used... the best u can do is recycle them and make them look like new... but they arent really new... exept the wing combat.. that is really new from AION....
OH and I dont know who was the one that say "why a good game need something new" well the answer is straight forward.. with out anything new is a copycat.. and copycats arent good... they only give u a dejavu effect... not fun...
Feel free to wait for your new game with all new features, which won't ever exist because every new game only improves on what's already out there, it's a progression. No matter how revolutionary some of the aspects might be it's still based on something already created.
Copycats are great if done right. French fries are nothing new, but there is a LARGE difference between McDonald's and sweet home made fries from real potatoes. It's a lame analogy, but it's what came to mind, pass me the ketchup.
We are not here for anything new, we are here because we want to play a good game with solid features and damnit we've waited years for this. ^_^
Hey The Old Republic is something rather new and different, but see the people bitching about it? That's right. Guild Wars is rather unique, but so much so it's not considered an MMO. So you might want to be careful what you wish for.
As for your comment about Darkfall, we don't know that until the devs announce they won't release and are shutting down production.
In depth, involved storylines are innovative in a MMORPG
The art style is a combination of western and eastern style, the game is a hybrid.
Im sick of seeing these "Another grinder" posts, anyone who says this obviously has done absolutely NOTHING in terms of looking into the game beyond looking at it's picture and name on the hype list.
Why am I looking forward to it? I'm looking forward to a game that has similar systems to what I enjoy, while enhancing them, and bringing a virtual world to "life" so to speak. In the years spent developing this game, they've taken close consideration to the western market, as it was designed specifically to compete in the market internationally. Read ANYTHING from the developers and you will see that.
As far as requiring a high end system for this game? The current system specifications are out, and they are NOT very high in the least bit. The difference between Aion and Darkfall in this situation, is NCsoft used a failsafe engine that's been around for years, it's designed to run well on most systems, while still looking decent.
You will find when companies design their own engine, it hasn't been tested on anything, and they tend to be much more glitchy, and their performance 9 times out of 10, is atrocious for the first several months.
Hate to break the news to you dude but Darkfall is a pathetic joke. You talk about INNOVATIVE?
Please tell me what's so "innovative" about a game that's been in development for 7 years and has nothing more than a few shitty outdated looking videos showing nothing more than some generic PvP hack and slach crap and horses running around weeks before a supposed commercial launch..
???
Darkfall is an outdated, overhyped joke waiting to complete it's final launch to failure.
But good attempt at trying to recruit people into follow that nonsense. I give you a C+.
Why all the hate? So apparently DF is not your cup of tea, ok, no need to make a fuss about it.
I dont think Nileq was a potential player, he is looking for sandbox UO like experience.
That being said, we have enough arguments to like this game that we can just talk about the goodness without needing to compare it to any other game.
Im not talking about having a Lore, I think you didnt get the point, Lore in Aion is a bit more Unique than the typical fantasy MMO. Maybe you just dont care for this kind of detail.
I disagree about the "every single innovation of a MMO is in DF", it is good to have one more sandbox, but there is nothing revolutionary about it.
...
I am a fan of both games (Darkfall and Aion) at the moment!
Either is not mainstream in design IMO.
They are both PVP focused games that alone makes them not mainstream.
I'm just glad there's gonna be 2 very different new MMO's in style for me to choose from.
Hell I think I will end up playing both!
Why I support DF: Simply put it's going against the current MMO norm of WoW, WAR, and from the looks of it, eventually Aion as well.
I totally agree, most of DF's features have been iterated at one point or another. But the fact is, there are hardly any games being released any time soon or in recent past with all these features and in that sense the overall game experience should be 'revolutionary'.
How these features will actually end up working out, we won't know for at least a few weeks. This is probably the most frustrating thing about DF (lack of info, vids, PR) and keeps me skeptical of the game still.
Aion has some potentially compelling features like the graphics and possibly cool combat with flying (using 'better lore' as an argument is kind of weak, the DF backstory is interesting imo). However, one could argue that DF's graphics are solid still (pretty objective) and more importantly, this will allow massive battles to take place on average computers. Granted this is pretty much speculation thus far but it is based on common sense. The fact that I also value gameplay a lot more than graphics (hence why I still play on some old-school UO free shards) is obviously a factor here. Some of the animations definitely need work in DF though, that's a given.
In the end, I'm not too worried about them competing with each other since one is totally catering to a niche community and the other is trying to take a bite out of the mainstream MMO genre. That's also why I feel super-nerdy for writing out so much, w/e I'm bored. Hell, if it doesn't turn out to be too much of a grind (speculation based on developer), I may give Aion a whirl.
Self-confessed DF fanboy. Finally a real ****ing MMO.
Why don't we all go play RTS and forget about this "Aion" crap... who needs it anyway?
LOL! JK but if you a lot of innovative features these days are not actually in the realm of rpgs, but in RTS. A big example of this is End War, but there are a few other games and series that have shown themselves to be a step away from the mold.
Company of heroes, Homeworld/H2, the total war series and even starcraft when it firsts came out. Looking for completely new and innovative ideas for MMOs is hard, because of the sheer number of players MMOs require, one person's trash is another person's treasure. With a smaller crow to cater to, RTS have bigger room for improvement.
It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay.
To the OP I want to thank you for comming here and actually asking about AION in a mature and respectful way but I also want to ask you why must a game be innovative? Cant the present formala work if they actually took it and actually made a very well polished and fun game. This is what NCSoft has done with AION and thats why we like it.
Personally, a game doesn't have to be "revolutionary" to attract me to it.
It just has to have the right level of balance, stability, depth of character customization and development and interesting content to keep me entertained.
Graphics are nice and I certainly appreciate them, but they're not the "end-all". Great graphics might attract you... but it's gonna be short-lived if what's underneath is weak, broken or half-baked.
So... to sum it up, I'm really interested in Aion despite it not bringing anything amazingly revolutionary to the genre because, frankly, it doesn't have to for me to enjoy it.
P.S. Kudos to the OP for coming here, as a fan of DF and rising above the usual hostility and aggression that seems to have become synonymous with that game's fanbase (and, from my experience, not undeservedly). So... maybe you'll rub off on them
First off thank you for a lot of sensible-answers
Ephimero, :
I see your point, and that is why I think DFO is revolutionary, "the overall package" bakes all those features into one game. And should they succeed in making them all work together, it would make for one hellova game..
craynlon:
Of course a new game does not have to be innovative. It might be just me that have grown so tired of the "standard" features of late (haven't played a mmo in over a year). I get a foul taste in my mouth just thinking of how many laps of the tread-mill I have done ;-).
Trissa:
I agree, the games are not mutually exclusive. Granted, I am not planning to play Aion, but I don’t see why you cannot play both. I know the DFO-community takes a giant dump on anyone confessing to be playing WoW, yet alot of DFO-community members confess to doing so.
Deathstrike2, Neyon:
Not everyone can afford the "latest and the greatest", I have a nice rig (just played FarCry2 on full settings without a hitch) but not everyone have that. The problem the "high end machine" brings to the table is that even though you can still play a game (at low settings) it will look like crap. Just look at AoC, you can play it with a "mediocre" machine but, with a game that have its graphics as a selling point, will you?
One common argument to why people are leaving that game is that is highly instantiated and that peoples machines cannot run it at good settings. The need for a high end machine is OK in 1 player FPS games, since you won't by that game if you can’t run it. But an MMO needs a huge number of players to become fun.
N1ghtsta1ker:
Thank you, I try. And I understand what you say about the disappointments of late ;-) let’s hope there is a developer out there that can actually bring a new MMO to the market WITHOUT fucking it up.. ;p
legend_hero:
I agree with you, the innovation does not lie within each feature but in the package as a whole.
denshing:
You are the sensible voice around here. One should not order a game before one have read reviews. However I must confess, I have been sucked in with the promises of DFO to the extent where I would pre-order the game without hesitation and without any proof that it will be a good game. I am usually like you a cautious person, but DFO got me ,-)
Mazer14:
I totally agree with you.
Korvenus, WSIMike :
When I am curious that is what i do, I ask questions. I am also a forumfaller and I flame away on those forums, but I keep that attitude where it belongs; at forumfall ;-) (someone should really write a book about froumfall..)
As I said to craynlon; I am just sick and tired of those standard features that EQ put on the market, and that have become the norm through WoW. I want something new and fresh, something that breaks the dullness of grinding and raiding on "Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday".
*****************************
I have nothing clever to say.
nileq, It has been quit refreshing to hear your words around here, You might not play Aion anytime soon but don't let that stop you from posting here. Have a good time in Darkfall.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Ya, both games have potential, I know i think the idea of massive battles on DF sounds awsome too. But i wouldnt just strike off aion, i have seen PVP videos that look like each side has 150+ people in a giant mass going against another 150+, "IN CLOSE QUARTERS! " it is so rediculous to the point I would seriously half to toggle off guild names and player names just to get the text out of my eyes.
So yeah, I would deffinently expect some enormous battles in Aion as well. Either way, I am going to take the DF developers on there offer of "Free trial" because they said they want everyone to try the game before they buy it, Hell even if 99% of you in this thread are guarenteed to pick up Aion, i wouldnt let that discourage you from taking a quick peek at DF when its released, And I really hope Aion has a free trial as well when its released.
If i had to show where i am at in deciding between DF and Aion, it would look something like this
Aion ----------------------------DarkFall
I dont think u are a flaming... U are more of a rather than a flamer...
Anyway the setting looks diferent.. no more orcs.. dwarf and elves around... and they probably have some strange stuff on it...
Besides, Darkfall isnt that great innovative at all... oblivion did it better before.. and fallout too...
and dont read features for something new, there is never going to be something new... everything this is already created and used...
Well, no one goes nuts because a MMO is innovative, people enjoy it for how it plays, looks and feels.
Take Darkfall.
PvP full loot, not innovative.
Delays, lies and promisses, not innovative.
Goofy, cliche and funny collored art style, not innovative.
FPS gameplay, not innovative.
No zones/intances, not innovative.
Bad animations, not innovative.
Ships, not innovative.
Siege weapons, not innovative.
Agressive and unpleasant community, not innovative.
... but Im sure you have your reasons, right? Same goes for people that is waiting for Aion.
Remember, winged combat and lore in Aion, both innovatives.
...
Yeah darkfall is a bunch of condense vaporware...
AION have their few things over there and there... is hard to make something new this days... because all ideas are already exploited, and used... the best u can do is recycle them and make them look like new... but they arent really new... exept the wing combat.. that is really new from AION....
OH and I dont know who was the one that say "why a good game need something new" well the answer is straight forward.. with out anything new is a copycat.. and copycats arent good... they only give u a dejavu effect... not fun...
Feel free to wait for your new game with all new features, which won't ever exist because every new game only improves on what's already out there, it's a progression. No matter how revolutionary some of the aspects might be it's still based on something already created.
Copycats are great if done right. French fries are nothing new, but there is a LARGE difference between McDonald's and sweet home made fries from real potatoes. It's a lame analogy, but it's what came to mind, pass me the ketchup.
We are not here for anything new, we are here because we want to play a good game with solid features and damnit we've waited years for this. ^_^
Hey The Old Republic is something rather new and different, but see the people bitching about it? That's right. Guild Wars is rather unique, but so much so it's not considered an MMO. So you might want to be careful what you wish for.
As for your comment about Darkfall, we don't know that until the devs announce they won't release and are shutting down production.
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
Ariel Combat is innovative
In depth, involved storylines are innovative in a MMORPG
The art style is a combination of western and eastern style, the game is a hybrid.
Im sick of seeing these "Another grinder" posts, anyone who says this obviously has done absolutely NOTHING in terms of looking into the game beyond looking at it's picture and name on the hype list.
Why am I looking forward to it? I'm looking forward to a game that has similar systems to what I enjoy, while enhancing them, and bringing a virtual world to "life" so to speak. In the years spent developing this game, they've taken close consideration to the western market, as it was designed specifically to compete in the market internationally. Read ANYTHING from the developers and you will see that.
As far as requiring a high end system for this game? The current system specifications are out, and they are NOT very high in the least bit. The difference between Aion and Darkfall in this situation, is NCsoft used a failsafe engine that's been around for years, it's designed to run well on most systems, while still looking decent.
You will find when companies design their own engine, it hasn't been tested on anything, and they tend to be much more glitchy, and their performance 9 times out of 10, is atrocious for the first several months.
Hate to break the news to you dude but Darkfall is a pathetic joke. You talk about INNOVATIVE?
Please tell me what's so "innovative" about a game that's been in development for 7 years and has nothing more than a few shitty outdated looking videos showing nothing more than some generic PvP hack and slach crap and horses running around weeks before a supposed commercial launch..
???
Darkfall is an outdated, overhyped joke waiting to complete it's final launch to failure.
But good attempt at trying to recruit people into follow that nonsense. I give you a C+.
Maybe Aion 2 could compete with DF on 2016
Why all the hate? So apparently DF is not your cup of tea, ok, no need to make a fuss about it.
