Evidence of beta...

LariosLarios Member Posts: 2

I was wondering if someone of the people that maybe are in beta can show a picture or some evidence (i dont want in game screen or other like that...)of the e-mail they got, because i actually think there are like 100 person in beta currently, including developer's relatives in that number

Not another thread on this subject.

There are no leaks because it is highly unlikely that any of general public have even been invited. This is looking increasingly like a smokescreen by Tasos as the days go on. Even the most vocal fanboys have been unnervingly quiet which is bad news.

    Interesting.

But i don't believe anything about DF unless i see solid proof. Long time since 2005 when i first read about it. It was when i was supposed to test is as a clan member.

Proof would be : The beta e-mail, screens of the actuall DFinstaller.exe, login screen, etc etc.

ill believe them as long as i get to play the game before i pay a penny.

plus ive tlaked to a person about it but meh . cant prove it so heh

I’ll save everyone a lot of wasted time and energy, simply choose 1 or more of the following options to express your opinion about this issue.

    1) Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

    2) Its impossible to prove a negative.

    3) Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

    4) Reductio ad absurdum.

    5) Innocent until proven guilty.

    6) No news is good news.

    7) Reductio ad impossible.

    8) Good things come to those who wait / patience is a virtue.

    9) “If you’re not in the beta yet, please don’t take this personally, it’s likely you don’t fit our immediate testing needs.”

    10) Wait until the Fat Lady sings.

So far nothing but hearsay. I know a guy, and he said...

I know a guy that played the beta, I know a guy that is on the develoment team, etc., and he said...

Isn't release date still set for 2008? Isn't it getting pretty close to announce pushing back the release date, if it's not going to release in 2008?

I don't think you wait till Dec. 31st, then announce the release will be pushed back to 2009, do you?

I think there's a pretty good model to follow, which is Warhammer. You may or may not like the game, but the devs were very upfront about release dates, push backs, and feature changes. This made them very credible, even, if they did upset fans with the changes.

I choose #6. i think we can all agree they have a game, and it looks pretty decent. the only thing that matters to me is that it's released when it's *good*, not because they had to. No news means they're flat out doing what needs to be done to get it finished.

The problem with the list is that they all applied to Dark and Light before it released as well, so none of it should be comforting.

I agree, its a weird feeling. A lot of what people are saying and the way they are saying it feels like Dark and Light all over again. We are missing the Baghdad Bob and Zytx although some people do act kinda fanatical like Zytx during the D&L days.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

Does anybody remember someone called “Thepizzaguy” or “dude” who used napoleon dynamite images in his posts on the official forums for Dark and Light?

You shouldn't be surprised considering 90% of the people who followed DnL went running over to the D arkfall boards when DnL went to shit.

And when Darkfall goes to shit they will all go over to Mortal Online....  difference being that Mortal Online actually has a solid chance at becoming something and has about 100 x more credibility then Aventurine or DF ever had.

I get the feeling that they might of sent a few beta invites (as in less than 100), but that they don't have the server(s) up and running quite yet.  It's still much to early to come to any type of conclusion.  If by the end of November, beginning of December, things are still eerily quiet, I would not doubt another delay is incoming.  They've made incredible progress so far, so I don't doubt that they're close to player beta testing stages, but I also don't doubt that there is a good chance release will be pushed back to Q1 of 09.  Hopefully they do not rush the server set up/stress tests, along with having hordes of testers pushing their code/servers to it's limits, to make a '08 release.  I know they have had friends and family testing, along with AI testing, but that could never replace hundreds/thousands of people running around testing things in a way no AI, nor a handful of testers could.  Just as long as they don't push back the release date with no information for months/years like they've done in the past, I would be OK. The next 6 weeks will either make or break the game.. Here's to that they do the right thing and have a great release.

But can't you do this indefinitely? We didn't quite make '08, we're pushing back to first quater '09. We didn't quite make first quater '09, we're pushing back to second quarter '09. Rinse repeat, and start all over again in 2010?

And just out of curiosity, what are you basing the "incredible progress" on?

    This.

I think it may be from .. well.. ahh.. the video is "progress".. which most video games have video before 2  years after development starts at the latest.

I think I can clear this up for you chaps, the incredible progress the poster is referring to is the hundreds of screenshots, the videos and the developer updates, interviews and Q&A’s they have produced so far.

Tasos seems to of found it quite demanding.

The joke is in 2003 Claus or one of the other developers said on the forums words to the effect of “communication is going to improve now we have a PR guy”

Perhaps this is all due to their complete inexperience in MMO development. Theres no better copout than that.

Maybe because he was busy actually working on the game... I know, i know, your minds can't grasp the concept people go to work and actually do their fucking jobs the whole day they slave away at it. putting in mostl ikely 12 hour days  nearly every day of the week.... Sometimes to go aside and do stuff does in fact take time.

When you're under the eye of so many people who are just finding something to tear you apart, you take your time when you write a post. Tasos said they have started to invite people to beta, who knows maybe it was more buggy then originally intended. If so they're obviously fixing the game up for us... if it takes until jan, feb, march, whatever for the game to not suck complete ass... then I don't care.

Yes we're in the dark, where we ever in the light though? nope.
