Not a real heavy workload for 8 years is it?

Tasos seems to of found it quite demanding.

Maybe because he was busy actually working on the game... I know, i know, your minds can't grasp the concept people go to work and actually do their fucking jobs the whole day they slave away at it. putting in mostl ikely 12 hour days  nearly every day of the week.... Sometimes to go aside and do stuff does in fact take time.

When you're under the eye of so many people who are just finding something to tear you apart, you take your time when you write a post. Tasos said they have started to invite people to beta, who knows maybe it was more buggy then originally intended. If so they're obviously fixing the game up for us... if it takes until jan, feb, march, whatever for the game to not suck complete ass... then I don't care.

Yes we're in the dark, where we ever in the light though? nope.

Perhaps hed better work harder, he slated an '08 release. Id hate to think he lied to us.

Well if you've been around for more then a few months you'd know we got shafted last year, so what, they announced they've invited more people... they never did that before.

And it wouldn't be the first company to push the launch date back a few times.

A lot of games have a lot of push backs, better pushed back then released total trash.

yea anyone with half a brain would agree with you.

I made a thread not too long ago about this.

Funny how trolls bash DF for pushing things back but also bash companies for releasing too early.  Add that to the irony that they call them amateur developers because its their first mmo...but then dont cut them slack because of delays.

    Brilliant!

I agree Makestro. But Aventurines lack of communication with its community is nothing short of scary. I cant think of a game that has done as badly in that regard.

Ill let inexperience speak for some things, but not everything. I get the feeling if this game bombs, were going to hear the fanbois saying. "well it was their first MMO."

And I agree, they haven't told us anything about darkfall, hell we've been asking for a bone for months now, we'll never get it though.

I think they've feared to tell us anything because they don't want to make any promises, although at this stage that excuse is pretty much null. It's all speculation, I just think if they where going to screw us over and try to take our money with a shitty product like funcom did, they'd of already done it.

Again I agree with you on some level. Though I do have to point out that Tasos is the master of the inference. I cant count the times hes infered things, but left what hes said open to just enough interpretation for it to go either way. I think it was done that way purposely. Carrot on a stick anyone?

Tasos strings us along that is for sure, but it is his job. I can't imagine how hard it is for someone to hype a game without talking about anything in great detail. What made me thinks.

Maybe the reason NDA is so harsh and info is so rare is the fact there is no american publisher yet? I don't know the legal shit behind it, but it might have something to do with it.

Excuses I know, I wish we knew more also, I'm excited for this game obviously.

Last I heard they havent even procured the rights to the name Darkfall in the US. I didnt think they were going to actively pursue a US publisher.

Im with ya though, Ive kept saying throughout all of this that Id love to see them follow through on all these promises. Truly it would be the first step forward in the evolution of MMOs since WoW set us back to the ice ages.

No.. Darkfall would be a huge step back..

WoW was the evolution of the MMORPG.  it produced the most offspring (subscribers) so it was the choice that the MMORPG industry took, as it has the most mating opprotunities.

Darkfall will only have the most troubing growing it's population due to the harshness of everything (the fat chicks get the last numbers at the end of the night.. but they can be the most fun sometimes) ;-)

Negative, Evolution is any process of formation or growth. Nothing in WoW was considered a growth in the genre(besides it's subscription numbers). All of it's features were completely dumbed down, more accessible versions of features in other MMOs. That would be devolving the genre. MMOs used to be complex, thought provoking, immersive and fun. WoW made MMOs mainstream, and when something goes mainstream it is changed to please the average person. Have you seen people these days? The average person is an idiot!

This isn't to say WoW is a bad game, or that I don't like it, but to say it evolved the genre is ridiculous.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I think Arcken was referring to WoW as a set back in terms of evolution of technology, not subscription numbers.

But honestly, games like UO, EvE, and Darkfall are in a class all their own.  A different type of MMO game.  Where games like EQ2, WoW, LOTRO, WAR, etc are MMOGs focusing on a themepark type of gameplay, UO, EvE, and hopefully Darkfall are more like  MMOWorlds where you don't just progress from point A to point Z and then you're done.

You live in the world.  Instead of asking yourself, "Where do I want to level today?" You ask yourself, "What do I want to do today?"  That's a huge difference.

Kind of a reach to put DF in with UO and EVE right now don't you think, because of no info (NDA). That is what they promise, but will it deliver.

Here is the problem all together.  The minute people stop thinking of an MMO as a game and start thinking of it as "work" is when they are no longer fun.

    How did you think now?

I always feel as the questgrinding and forced lveling is work. If i could choose, i wouldent spend my few gaming hours doing that.......i would choose fun things instead. Things i really would like to do.

I'm just basing my assumption on avaliable information.  Do I actually think DF will live up to expectations?  Nope, but I hope it will.

I'm not sure what you meant by this.  Personally, every level based game feels like work to me.  SWG (Pre NGE) was the last game that I actually did not feel like I had a second job while playing.

Simple solution. . .don't play when it feels like work.  This only leads to your own frustration as well as everyone else's when the complaining starts on the forums.

Um, ya that's why I'm here and not playing a game right now.. I'm not really sure how we get on this subject though, it has nothing to do with my post you originally quoted or the topic of the discussion.

I would have thought by now someone has snuck a video of themselves playing onto youtube or somewhere else.

Those fanboys have gone to play the latest expansion from Blizzard. Even though they'll state they never touch that game and how much they hate it before returning to their closet to play it.

LoL i hate WoW but i also love it.

Its a Love Hate thing.  Its kinda like your first real girlfriend, you can't stand her but you love her.

    ontopic.

Yea... i wasnt one to call out vaporware for this game but with the sapposive beta going live and not even someone claiming to be in the beta seems as if they are lieing...

And for it to be out on Dec. 31st... umm yea... i say good luck to them... ill wish for the best for it though.  Would be nice to have a different style MMO on the market.

The next 6 weeks will either make or break the game.. Here's to that they do the right thing and have a great release.

Except... Tasos said the OPEN Beta ENDS the beginning of December, hopefully it will START soon.
