I'm a huge Madonna fan.  Always have been.  Well, except for that new album she just put out.  What the hell was that shit???

Anyways, this is probably my favorite song by her...

    Madonna - Ray Of Light

I feel kind of sorry for her lately.  She's gone off some deep end.  I think if she would have just let herself age naturally and gone with it she could have matured her music and kept her fans along with her.  She's got a charasmatic enough personality to have done it.  But she tried to "stay young" and that's never good.  Mature women can still be beautiful.  It's all about personality as much as looks.  I think her quest to stay young is going to destroy her and her body.

Take On Me by Ah-ha is the one song I am ashamed that I love.  Also I think the video is great even after all these years. The girl in the video reminds me of a long lost love of mine.

    this one
I'm really embarrassed now.  If you could see me, you would see that my face is red.  But in a way, it's also been therapeutic.  I'm glad I finally got that off my chest.  Anyone else brave enough to post a song that they're ashamed to admit they like?

I dont understand why you are embarassed for liking this song. I like songs like this all the time.

I've always liked that one you chose.

there's tons of sappy songs Im not ashamed of liking, for instance:

uk.youtube.com/watch Aztec Camera - Somewhere in the Heart (if I proposed to a girl and sang a song I would do this one)

    uk.youtube.com/watch - Littlest Hobo

uk.youtube.com/watch - Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out (I dont feel gay for liking this song at all - he's an amaziing artist with songs like 'I'm the Man' and the whole Beat Crazy album.

uk.youtube.com/watch - Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy  (another song with an obviously gay singer)

    uk.youtube.com/watch - OMD - Souvenir

    www.youtube.com/watch - Christopher Cross - Sailing

    www.youtube.com/watch - The Big Supreme - Don't Walk

    uk.youtube.com/watch - Spandau Ballet - True

uk.youtube.com/watch - Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now

uk.youtube.com/watch - Roxy Music - More Than This

    uk.youtube.com/watch - Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes

uk.youtube.com/watch - Hall & Oates - Method of Modern Love (man hall has an amazing voice)

uk.youtube.com/watch - Don Henley - Boys of Summer

uk.youtube.com/watch - New Edition - Mr. Telephone Man

If you all want more classic 'sappy' songs just reply and Im sure I can come up with more modern songs as well. Don't be ashamed of the 80s. Some good music happened.

edit: I forgot the one of the coolest 80s songs ever

uk.youtube.com/watch Tears For Fears - Head Over Heals

I've got three that I love but am kind of embarrased about liking.

    Enur Calabria

    Night Ranger Sister Christian

The Killers I've Got Soul, But I'm Not a Soldier

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

No question you've got some silly songs there.  Except for Boys of Summer.  That one's actually got some edge to it.  And Head over Heals is not even Tears for Fears' coolest song.  Although it's not bad.  But this is their coolest one.

  • ThrakkThrakk Member Posts: 1,226

well I wasnt trying to post songs with edge to them. I was going for the sappier ones that people could be ashamed of. OMD and Roxy Music have much better songs than what I listed here. and joe jackson. and hall and oates have lots of great songs.

    Well, since you asked:www.youtube.com/watch

It's one of those songs where you change the station if someone else is in the car, but turn it up if there not.

Wow, this is very encouraging gang.  Don't you find this to be a liberating experience?  Think of this thread as being like a support group where you can totally be yourself.  Since everyone is being so honest, I guess I'll open up a little more.

First of all, your post Zikiel reminded me of an ABBA song I really liked as a kid.  Even now, I still kind of like it because it takes me back to those days.

Next, gnomexxx mentioned being a huge Madonna fan.  I'm not at all.  In fact, I can't stand Madonna.  But I have to admit, she does have an old sappy song that I am kind of hooked on.  Check it out.  Now that is embarrassing.

And then keltic1701 posted Take on me by Ah-ha.  I do really like that song and am not even ashamed to admit it.  Although I do have a friend who used to make fun of me for liking it.  Mostly because it uses electronic drums instead of "real" ones.

Finally, here's another tune I'll admit I really like.  Shameful I know, but hey, I'm relying on your discretion to be understanding.

  • ZindaihasZindaihas Member UncommonPosts: 3,662

Hmm, I can't seem to link that third song in my previous post.  It keeps coming up Madonna for some reason.  So I guess the thing to do is to put in a separate post.

It's supposed to be Cruel Summer by Banarama.

     Honest, i love the song!

Same. I'm ashamed that I think it's a great song. There is also another popular song he did that I liked. Can't hear that song with my undercover brothas.

I bet it's this one.  It's essentially the same song, just with different words.

You hit the nail right on the head.

    I think it's hilarious, but I don't advertise I like it.

    - How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?

    - I don't know, but some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?

Well, it's not just sappy songs, I just used that word because I think it applies to the first one I posted.  Sappy is just a possible description.  Stupid might be another one.  I would agree with you on your first post.  That Wilson Phillips song is worth being embarrassed over.  Of your second list of songs, I am in complete agreement with on you on Lost in Love by Air Supply.  I absolutely love that song.  Although I did have a friend of mine laugh at me when I told him that.
