For those who have left: What disappointed you the most?

//\//\oo//\//\oo Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,767

This doesn't apply to me: I'm just curious as to why so many people were disappointed with the game, since the population seems to be nearly half that of launch. My biggest issue with the game is the combat, since there is a lack of individual strategy.

I have not cancelled yet, however I will not be resubscribing I think.

My issues with Warhammer are simply that I do not find it fun. I have been a Warhammer fan since I was in Jr. High school (20 years or so). The entire problem with the game is that it is lacking. I'm not sure what it is lacking but it just does not grab me, I do not feel the urge to log in at all. I got 4 days off of work and usually I would have spent that logged in to my favorite MMO getting as much play time as possible but with Warhammer I cannot even bring myself to log in. I am really glad some people are having a blast, and I really think that they have done a good job on many elements of the game. I just cannot find the "fun" for me in it. It's a real shame to, seems like the last MMO I truely enjoyed myself was FFXI & Horizons.I think perhaps MMO's are not for me anymore :(

I have been playing vidoe/computer games for over 25 years.  There isnt one I have enjoyed that didnt have some issues and things I thought could have been better.  Perfection just isnt a reality.  WAR is what it is, a solid pvp oriented MMO.  And for that reason I play.

I was really dissapointed by the lack of "small things" animationbugs, no item-linking, no bowstring/arrows, projectiles in general looked odd when flying through the air and alot of other of those things that should just be there, it all really added up in the end, and ultimatly made me decide not to resub.

Honestly to me the world just felt dead. I didn't feel like I was in a world more like I was just standing around waiting to do scenarios.

I was looking for WAR to be the spiritual successor to DAOC, instead it is more like WOW in being a 'game' instead of a world.

Everything is simplified in the name of "fun", I found it to be lacking overall and not what I was looking for.

I love WAR. I will be back in a few months. But WoTLK is just too much fun currently. Sure they did steal a lot from WAR and AOC (DK starting area), but they steal so well. The fun factor in WoW is just a couple of notches higher than everything else.

I quit briefly due to frustration and general imbalance.  At the time I managed to pick both an Order server where Order mostly loses and a Destruction server where Destruction mostly loses.  On top of that, Ironbreakers really, really irritated me, and Swordmasters (my highest class) seemed disappointing.

Yeah it may be whiney of me to freak out and quit over losing, and some people like being the underdog, but when I spent a whole weekend playing and won 1 scenario and lost 38 (yes, I counted) between both my servers I'd had enough.  That's not the underdog, that's a pile of crap.  And this was before some of the ORVR improvements so those areas were a total wasteland.

After the new class announcement and the test server spinning up, I decided to give it another whirl.  I'm still solidly on the "meh" part of the scale when it comes to SMs (The only help they really got was that 'extra damage on crit' buff, everything else is pretty ho-hum) but at least my server conditions are a little better.  Population wise my Order server is hurting quite a bit but the win/loss is, for the most part, a little better balanced.  My Destro server is miles better now though, seemingly with a higher population and good, competitive matches in Scens and ORVR.

The point I'm getting it at is I like the game at its core, if I quit it will be due to player controlled issues (gross imbalance in numbers or general skill) or due to specific balance issues.  For what it is, though, War is the most enjoyable (and currently most popular) PVP-centric modern MMO, and for that reason alone I'll be drawn to it.

EQ is at the root of my "first mmo syndrome" so I've been around the genre for quite a while, and I just can't see any PVE-focused game holding my attention in the way that game did, so rather than try to replicate that EQ feeling (which I tried to in many, many games) I think I just need to look for a different, but equally enjoyable feeling.  Right now War provides it better than anything else.

I can not say any specific thing is borked, it was just the overall feeling to be bored after level 20-something. It all felt the same, and I never felt like in a living, breathing world, but led from entertainment point A to point B more like in a Disneyland Theme Park than a world. I found the characters very narrow, all looking the same, having the same setup build and more being a type than an individual with my BW looking like every other BW. There was just too little novelty and individuality in every aspect. The ever same PQ type, the ever same scenarios (only say Tor Anroc), the ever same keep conquest. Its all way too simplified and steamlined to be really interesting.

I don't understand why people claim that SM's are underwhelming: I took one into it's 30's and I found myself to be VERY effective and practically as survivable as a Da Toughest black orc (more so in certain cases) when I specced into vaul.

Until you get Vaul's buffer, an SM is not quite as effective as a BO , but once you do it's a game-changing ability.

I totally agree. That is exactly why I left. That and the fact the no one talked in the game outside of guild chat really rubbed me the wrong way as well.

while i have not left just yet as i'm still playing with my guild, i will being leaving this game soon...why you may ask?

This game is not for old school hardcore mmo players much like myself, it's for the carebear easymoders that want things handed to them! the RvR can be fun somtimes but most people our playing PvP in the scenarios a dumb copy from <insert that bad game here> it's NOT fun farming or being farmed at the 1 shot npcs.

and the PvE is just a mindless forgetable solo grind to 40 (With weak AI) no one wants to gourp up..."no thx grping kills the xp", if you want grp with others it would have to be the PQ's even then it's mostly just guild only, so the main PvE grp content is city raiding after zerging 2 forts (RvR) (if you don't crash the server before getting there).

    I am still playing but I know i will leave that game. That is why;

    - brainless and very poor PvE. I understand it is PvP game but jeez. Even in AoC it was more PvE kind than in WAR ( it is really hard to be worst).

    - instances cooldown is nonsense, we got 2 high lv instances. Bugged and with cd, no comments. If I can clear whole instance in 30 minuts something here is really wrong.

    - PvP is focused to scenaries, scenaries means 1, now it is Serpent Passage.  Graphical engine sux, it makes troubles even with WAR graphic, AoC story repeats. Repeats but it is not same level of graphic, gg.

-some skills does not works correctly.

    Etc.

To be honest I am just bored, it was not even 2 months to feel bored, Bad result.

WAR missing something really important, lets call it quality. It is even nice good but have not that THING.

Was I hooked in WAR? No. There was nothing cool, special, different, new, call it as you want.

    Thats all I suppose.

ps. gogo TCoS <3,  I hope it will something for me.

Those are pretty solid on how I felt.

Shortest answer for what disappointed me and why I left?  The RvR.

    1. faction imbalance: order really didnt appeal to me much either after starting several classes in it

    2. senerio: nothing like 6 order vs 2+ groups dest

    3. OP classes both sides

    4. Lack of community, unless guilded

    5.  Crap for pve

    6.  KoTBS not appealilng enough to stick around to try

Im still playing and enjoying the game enough to keep me resubbing. Although there are lots of frustrating things that has made me very disappointed.

One is the animationbugs that still hasnt been fixed. Almost everytime I dismount my char gets locked in weird poses/half buried in the ground/floating around on the ground and so on. Skill animations also stick to it sometimes. Most annoying is when im knocked down and moving around as normal while lying on the ground. That takes a relog to fix ><

There is also very little incentive to play at rank 40, sieging keeps and running premade scenarios is fun right now, but I predict that will get old eventually. The PvE in this game is actually very fun, but its so hard finding groups for it ive almost given up, (Rewards are ).

The servers also sucks, atleast here in EU. Order tried a fortress siege some days ago, which resulted in a servercrash. During the siege there was so much delay noone could use spells with a casting time.. No faction on my server has been able to take a fortress yet. Every attempt has ended like this..

Gear in this game seems pretty retarded aswell. Im a rank 40/rr35 zealot and im running around in rank 20-30 pieces, simply because they are the best I can get for healing atm. All the epics ive found so far for my class has been useless to me, since they put loads of int on them, which is completely useless for a healer -.- (The only damaging spells worth useing in combat are instant spells or my ritual with damaging tactic, and they dont really benefit anything meaningful from int)

Im pretty amazed im still playing with all these complaints :D I guess im not very picky. I doubt however that WAR will keep my subs once Aion is released.

My honest oppinion. The Graphics. All the equipment pretty much looked the same, im sick of all the cartoony mmorpgs that have no immersion wow is the same way.

Second: The lack of any penalty in the game...

Dying has no penalty, travel is too fast. You feel much more immersed in a game if you cant click a button and teleport anywhere you want. Travel = realism theres no danger warping from one location to another. Pointing at everquest you actually would think, is this journey worth the danger of dying after traveling 30 minutes from one side of the continent to the other only to be slain by something?

    No thrill = No longetivity

The gameplay is solid for both this and wow but its all about the lack of immersion which you get from 3rd person mmorpgs.

The reason people get so immersed in an mmorpg is the fact that it feels like they are injside the game and thats what you get from for instance everquest. You were looking out through the eyes of the character.

The reason I chose "other" on the poll was that I left due to the developers.  They seem lost, they nerf HARD, and randomly.  They seem to be unsure of what needs to be balanced...or no, they seem like they feel sure, but that they couldn't find their balance with both hands and a map.  Not that I'm the guru of balance issues, but I could certainly do better than they're doing.  Heck, a retarded blind gerbil jumping around on a keyboard could too.  They're not listening to the players, and they're virtually non-existent on forums where players are trying to interact with them (except for the GM giving special treatment to the VNBoards, but even then).  It almost feels like they're playing an entirely different game than the players are.  If I had faith in the devs, there might be a reason to hang on, or to come back later, but there isn't any faith at all.

    • Some of the lesser issues that also influenced my cancellation were touched on by others in this thread.  Every character of about...mmm...level 12 looks the same as every other character of that class through level 40.  The outfits aren't a huge issue, but c'mon, there should be more than 1-2 skins for each armor slot, even if they're ugly.
    • Performance.  The game doesn't run all that well, especially when the graphics aren't amazing.  They say it has a high polygon count, and maybe it does, but it doesn't LOOK awesome.  I'd put the graphics on par with WoW, with worse performance added in.  The performance issues affect players of high and low end systems both, too, which is odd.
    • There's no sense of character advancement.  This is kind of a big deal here.  I upgrade a piece of gear for next to no benefit.  I get a level and gain very little benefit from that either.  I complete an "epic" quest chain...for a piece of junk gear that I wouldn't wear.  Epic.  Which leads up to...
    • Flow.  Where am I going?  I can't find the next tier of instance, or if I switch zones (say, high elf t4 to empire t4) it doesn't really lead to the next area very well.  The instances are entirely skippable in my experiance, with the only "must do" being things to get a set of Ward gear, which you absolutely must have for taking a city...but it's still gear you wouldn't really want to wear.  Even then, there's no real leading to those places that you can get your Ward gear.
    • The world is empty.  4k population caps on the servers, with travel between the different realms being via zoning, and so much space...you often don't see anybody at all.  War is NOT everywhere.  I could log in right now, leave the warcamp and ride off for five minutes and farm/grind something.  Odds are, I wouldn't see a single person in an hour.  The server caps should be probably triple what they are, if not more, to really get that "at war" feel to it.  4k just feels like you're playing a single player game most of the time, when you're not in a scenario.

I could go on, but there's no point.  I won't say the game outright failed, but it didn't live up to what it should have.  It'll probably maintain a population that will keep the servers open, after some consolidation, but it's not going to be the success it should have been.  Different developers could have taken the Warhammer name and lore into an amazing place, and created a game that utterly rocked.  Games-Workshop certainly established the Warhammer universe as one heck of a great place...Mythic just completely failed to deliver it.

  • CobraSolidusCobraSolidus Member Posts: 369

you forgot a "all of the above option".

  • DrafellDrafell Member Posts: 588

"Performance" is the most disappointing aspect. The game should run well even on the minimum specs, and not be an unmitigated lag fest.

  • eldanlocoeldanloco Member Posts: 210

RvR is a joke if you aren't long range.  A wall of bright wizards moves and a sea of flames blazes in front of them.  While I hit for 150 they hit for 1200 at around the same level - awesome.  Glass canons or not, that's not fair.

Holiday zerg battles = not fun.

PQs lacked the most important piece necessary for their existence... people.

    Not enough healers.

The PvE content was on super easy mode.

Felt like a completely average MMO.

Graphics, which don't normally matter to me, were very craptacular.

Bad word of mouth drained the players from the game faster than water down a sink.

You are useless at RvR if you are at the lower end of the level range.  USE-LESS

This is just another case of post-WoW MMOs kicking the bucket because they are trying to be WoW.  Pray that either Mortal Online or Darkfall get noticed, and the MMO genre gets new life breathed into it's dying body.

I canceled just a few days ago sadly. I didnt want to feel this way, but like AoC, i felt that it was a huge waste of money and time. One thing is very clear, the game was released too early. It was just too...shallow. It really felt like the Developers at mythic didnt really think it through... classes, items, its all underwhelming. I have seen more armor and weapons in a generic f2p mmorpg, which is bad. Classes were just...well unpolished. It felt like half of the order classes were just randomly tossed together without actually spending quality time designing them, where as on destruction (i played both), it felt like much more time went into the classes.

The real thing that killed it for me though, was that Mythic was unable to provide a worth while game where WAR WAS EVERYWHERE. Its a scenario game, and so far its some of the worst pvp I have had. Im not saying its horrible pvp, but from my past experiences, its one of the most shallow and boring experiences i have faced.  If there was more to the game mechanics, more activity, more pride in your race/faction, more unity, and most of all more class polish, it can very well be a good pvp game. But right now, it really fails at being anything but satisfactory or subpar.

I bought the game to PvP and it was a let down. Sadly...very sadly, i had more fun in that imbalanced piece of crap known as age of conan..pvp wise.

If WAR didnt feel so bland, dead, plastic, anti-dynamic, and full of clones, I could see it going far. Personally I blame it on two things, the early release and bad game design (i think they made some mistakes in the structure and approach to pvp and pve) zoning and gameplay.

    Thats just my opinion though.
