... Look... kid... the game is NOT dead. Spread lies all you want,

... I'm sick of people like you coming in telling them as though they're some authority on the subject when they don't even play the bloody game or haven't played it in quite a while.

... Grow up and stop moaning about something you have no experience with.

psssst little "kid". Can you read a little?

Ive been playing EQ2 in nice, big, raiding and helpfull mature guild, and enjoyed it for 1,5 years, every day... thats not enough experiences? Ive had 77 Inquisitor and some midle level alts... how long youre in EQ2?

And i never told im some "authority", kid... ive told: its my personal opinion, notin else. Stop crying, when somebody isnt agree with you...

Btw. Im sure im older, then you.

    Wuuduu,

While it is obvious and not a little ironic that some here, through their input, do more harm to the game (by giving a bad impression of those of us playing) while they actually try to defend it, that nonetheless does not validate your impression.

    EQ2 is alive and well.

You won't ever see it achieve the numbers of WOW, of course, but I suspect that is just fine with those of us who play.

I've been playing for nearly the last three years on several servers (what can I say, I like alts) and I've never had too much of a problem finding a group. EQ2 has, of course, become more solo-friendly over the years (despite this last expansion) so even if you cannot find a group right away, there are still many, many things you can do to progress in the game.

Unless the focus is solely on getting the next shiny set of uber gear, when you take into account housing, the new guild housing, crafting, harvesting and commerce on the broker (to name a few) there is always something to do to progress and move your character forward in the game. It's not always easy, nor does it always involve killing things, but it is true.

Such a game is not for everyone, but then, it shouldn't be.

    Best of luck to you!

I have to say that I'm seeing more of a surge of people coming back to the game here lately to be honest.  Since the game was released in Nov 04, I've had an active sub for 3 years of it (took 2 6 month breaks).

I'm not seeing a dead game, I'm seeing a game that is mature with a spread out population, but logging into my lvl 80 main and in the new zone, it is actually quite crowded, saw about 4 or 5 groups worth of people just hanging around the drop area, more in the zone than that.

Everquest series is dead for levels 1-75. after that you can find alot of people and actually do somthing in the game. Why im for just starting out a level 70 or 75 no point in haveing to level all the way up.

Hmm this game is far from DEAD been playing for 4 years now and our guild is taking high lvl and low lvl toons all the time.

I do think the game is kinda in coast mode tho i dont believe it will get more people playing because of the way SOE promots their game they just dont get the word out at all.

The day TOS went live went to my local EB Game store and they had one full wall of WOW exp. and 2 boxes of  EQ2 on the shelf  enuf said !!!!

But i am still having a blast with the game tho   :)

You should have np finding groups / raids for a 78 Troub at all i know i dont

Baleout, I think those people are trolls, honestly. Because otherwise they wouldn't bother to be here if they think the game is so horrible. No matter what insults they fling to everyone else or how childish they're being. They'd be much brighter and actually go to a game forum that they LIKE.

If you have never tried it, give it a shot. I discovered it 2 years ago and was very impressed. Unfortunately, I have been playing MMOs for years and while EQ2 is superior to most of the fantasy games out there, I've just grown tired of the fantasy type genre in general. Not EQ2's fault. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun game. I dropped in a few months ago and it was most definitely not dead.

I always wonder why somoe would waste time in a game forum of a game they dislike. Seems a waste of time to me. There is that small number that want to save us from our own dilusions that we like this game. I kind of get that but most just seem to be wasting time. As an older gamer I have learned how precious time can be.

I wonder that too. You'd think they have better things to do. For example... I can't stand WoW. But I don't go to the WoW forums just to bash the game every chance I get. It would be childish and serve no purpose whatsoever other than to aggravate people there which is really no purpose at all.

Personally, I'd rather be doing anything but sitting on the WoW forums because it would be like pulling my hair out.

If you don't like the game, why not just leave it  instead of constantly moaning about things you THINK are true or lying about it?

    It makes no sense.

    Ecco,

Could be because they seek validation for their repudiation of the game. Could also be that they seek to have someone argue, and convince them, that their impressions are in error. Could also be that they simply use certain forums for their own aggrandizement, there are certainly posters on both sides of the issues that come off looking rather insecure.

For my part, EQ2 is my game of choice for the fantasy MMO genre as I have found it to be the best available that fits my playstyle.

I wear no rose-colored glasses concerning this game, however. There are problems with EQ2 and moreover with SOE, some of which are unfortunately self inflicted. I understand that there will always be people who will criticize any game from SOE, based on that companies previous treatment of their customers. Those kinds of people I refrain from replying to here, since they are not seeking a discussion, instead only a place to vent.

When SOE makes what I feel is a wrong choice, or takes actions that I do not agree with concerning the game, I have spoken out. I recall one poster here telling me to stop posting (a frequent refrain of this person), since that person did not like the argument I was presenting here. A reply and quick note to MMORPG seemed to defuse that line of thinking very quickly. I am sad to see it reappeariong.

Complaining about the "trolls", and simply telling people to not post (or to "leave") a public discussion board dedicated to the topic, simply because one disagrees with the content of their opinion does no one any good and reveals the inability to use the truth to defend your position. If the only rebuttal to a criticism is to deny the critic his voice, then anyone watching would conclude that perhaps the critic is correct in his opinion.

So I suggest that when patent falsehoods are promoted about the game, we have a right to respond. We also have the right to respond or ignore the ignorant, the petty and those with a personal agenda.

But criticizing people for simply sharing their opinons, and thus trying to silence them here, seems to most  to be nothing but a validation of their point.

And in that stance, as much as some would like to "win" the argument, they lose.

    Best to you.

Eq2 offers so much more then gear. If that is what you want from a game then WoW would probably be more your style. I have mostly fabled gear with a few mythic items. I have good gear but far from the top stuff.

a 'FEW' mythics items? Wonder which ones you got besides your class epic weapon and maybe the 2nd subclass one which is possible to get if you betray and do both quests. but 'a few'? i call bs ;D

You missed the point of my comment and that was that I do not find gear important and that I have far from the best gear, yet still have fun. I was talking about a few (3) mythical and fabled items between all my toons. That is with 4 years of play. My ranger has the Eagle Talon, one of my Bruisers the his Groynn's Fist, and my Fury has the Wrath of Nature. all my other toons have a mix of a few fables but some mastercrafted and legendary gear and I still have fun I do not feel left behind. So you are right the use of "few" or "mostly" might be a bit misleading but hardly bs. However I was not thinking about semantics when I wrote that reply.

I have never tried to silence anyone in my years at mmorpg.com. I have never said that anyone did not have the right to post what ever they want to true or false. I have always acknowledge this is a public forum where opinion rules. I have never insulted anyone for their opinion. I also never put anyone down who does want to waste their time, in my opinion.

Since you start this post with my name and end with best to you I have a question. What is the point you were trying to make to me? I seem to have missed it since those things you are trying to school me in I do not do. I was not complaining about trolls. I simply asked why someone would waste their time in a forum for a game they dislike. If this was a general comment then you should not have addressed it to me. I find the second half of your post untrue and insulting in reguards to me and my posting history here at mmorpg.com.

    My apologies, Ecco.

I was not referring to you in any but the most general way. You asked why people would "waste time" in the forum of a game that they do not like, and I gave you my opinion as to why they might do so.

I went on to use that comment as a springboard to opine on the tactics of some here, tactics of which I have first-hand knowledge of, but I neglected to make it clear that I was no longer addressing you.

I hope this makes it clear to everyone that I was not addressing you in the second half of my post. Again, I offer you my apology for not being more clear.

    Best to you.

Not sure about Butcherblock, Lucan D'lere is still alive at least, only server I played on this year. I havn't played since may but one of my friends is still playing there and say it is still good.

In worst case, make a server transfer to a bigger server...

EQ2 is a great game for grouping. Solo play sucks however.

Thanks for clearing that up. While I can be staunch in my defense and criticism of a particular game or idea, I have never denied the rights of others to voice their opinion.

I tend to solo for the most part and enjoy solo play a lot in EQ2. What I like is they, for my style of play, have found a good balance with group and solo play. I feel most of the time I get rewarded properly for whichever way I play. I did say most of the time, not all of the time.

  • RastonRaston Member Posts: 438

EQ2 is a good game, IMO.

Is it flawless?  Heck no, but the flaws are managable and the issues tend to be mostly minor (and player inflicted).

  • Jeff44Jeff44 Member Posts: 459

I categorically deny that I am denying anything contained within any category.

I too am mostly a solo player. In contrast, my wife is one of the top of her class on her server. She is enjoying all the new content, while I have not even bought the expansion yet. A year or two ago, I could not get her to touch a PC. Now, she has her own to play EQ2 and spouts MMO/EQ2-speak like a pro.

    Uhm, I think.

Sometimes even I can't understand what she's said.
