"“Our aim is for this to not affect development of ‘Age of Conan,’ or any of our other games, at all. We are sticking firmly to our plans. The Xbox 360 version of the game is still in production, but as before we are not committing to any specific dates. I wish I could give you more information, but I can’t at the time being.”
“Age of Conan” was released in May and the Xbox 360 version was slated for 2009."

Kinda puts it out blunty I think.

Bull. Complete and utter bull. My god, does noone see what this is? Their stock price is abyssmal, they are starving for investment capital and no bank is going to give it to them in their current state. This press release is just to try and drum up what little hype they can before they go around asking for a bailout.
How are they going to tackle the need for such a large installation? How about the graphic requirements? Bandwith? They haven't got a clue on how to deal with any of it. Gaute, before he left, was pretty honest about all the hurdles they had to face with an XBOX port. Of course he kept it out there, what company wouldn't? Finally, the loudest evidence of this vapor ware bullcrap is the silence from Microsoft. You would think they would want to promote something like this, wouldn't you?
Avery you still think these guys are gonna pull this thing out of the grave. Man you gotta start adding things up and its not good.
MAGA
Yes there were no WMD in Iraq. The Russians are not invading etc etc. Same principle. Time to take the shades off. The 360 version has been going for a while, more people than the DF dev team working on it. Whether it happens in 2009 or not is another topic. 360 is growing in popularity each day and there is a market for this type of game. Whether people still want to call sinking ship every other month like since the start of the year is ok, but FC is still here and the fact is money is still in the bank to support the development of this. Re-structuring of staff to better provide service is also feasible and I havent read of any direction correlation since staff went directly effecting players in game. Same as when they let the same titles of those staff that went in September too.
Microsoft already gave the green light on 360 AoC. There is nothing more to say than it is still in development and they are not ready to release more info than that at this point in time.
The company is re-assuring that the cuts won't effect either, just like they assured us they would staff up because there was a need in these area's - and they did. There is nothing to go on to think otherwise imo.
Is this an advanced way of saying that the close to 6 Mill $ operational profit FC made in Q3 somehow has been stolen? And yeah I look forward to when Microsoft will start to market for FC. lol

I guess you missed their bleak q4 projections and ignored what they did to make their Q3 numbers, but hey that's a different topic.
Microsoft already marketed for FC, they did it when the 360 version was first announced. Unfortunately after that first announcement there hasn't been a peep out of them. Conan isn't the first MMO promised for the XBOX / 360 that had the same treatment and eventually were announced canceled. Look it up
Your title put it's blunty, the actual quote does not. "our aim is" is very different to your title saying it won't.

Yea, OP. Your title is wrong. When he added that "our aim is", the whole sentence changed. This is just your basic marketing talk. Now if they abbandon Xbox 360 version, they can say: "well it was our aim not to have to do this but we had to do it anyways".
It would be nice to see 360 version but I doubt it will ever come. When devs are so quit about something (no launch estimates, nothing) it usually means they are on very early stages of development.
I'm guessing they will announce some time 2009 that the Xbox 360 version is not coming out at all and they are focusing on PC version.
Yeah, just like the new graphic engine for Anarchy Online that was slated for mid-to-late 2008, which has now been changed to an "we are aiming for mid-to-late 2009".
They keep dangling the carrot, and you keep hopping after it.
Sorry Avery, but anyone who takes you seriously anymore or who thinks you have anything even remotely resembling objectivity needs to take another look, yourself included.
By the way, change your thread title. It is wrong and intentionally misleading. If this is what is to be expected from the AoC Correspondent, then perhaps it's time to find a new one.

You know exactly where that 6 mill. came from. It was mistakenly lost by FC in the second quarter, so they added it to the 3rd quarter to make their numbers look better. You know that, and everyone who read the report knows it. You just choose to lie and try to make it look better for FC whenever you can.
And you call other people here trolls. LOLLOL

I agree. It's getting out of hand.
Gaute wasn't honest about a thing tbh. That guy did nothing constructive at all to Funcom or the game regarding the AoC launch.
And why should Microsoft promote a game before it is made and 100% sure it will be released? People have promoted products they have had on the design board earlier and failed miserably at it. if you run a company you don't promote a product to the masses until you know it will be made and it is in a state that actually allows you to do so.
Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom

Uhhh...Avery, you DO realize that the article reference that you posted was 2 years old, right? December 2006 post date hardly qualifies this as current and viable imformation.
See? We agree on something.

Yes we do, and my sentence there was based on this "Finally, the loudest evidence of this vapor ware bullcrap is the silence from Microsoft. You would think they would want to promote something like this, wouldn't you?". The silence from Microsft means that there isn't anything to promote yet, nothing else it isn't a sign that the game will never be released for Xbox.
If AoC appears on xbox only time will tell, but seeing the amount of MMO's that have done so earlier I'm not really crossing my fingers for it to happen anytime soon.

Whats the title of the source? same. thanks. If I were not to have this title I would still post the same, it does not make a difference. Title goes for articles "continue to post as you always have ben" - mmorpg.com.
Just remember
Funcom 'aimed' to have DX10 in at launch. They 'aimed' to have drunken brawling in at launch. They 'aimed' to have seiges working at launch.
This is nothing more than typical 'spin' from Funcom trying to talk down the bad news that got released.
Ah yes because he is supporting the game he must work for funcom...
By drawing that conclusion I think I can draw the conclusion you are an idiot too then?
Oh and WMD stands for Weapons of Mass Destruction, and no I don't think you can get one :P
There is a difference between supporting a game and being a crazy fanatic who thinks Age of Conan is like a religion and who takes every single negative comment personally.
Regular gamers find faults in every game they play, even the ones they love. Some people here seem to post positive propaganda about Conan all day long and try to discredit posters who are critical about the game. These people clearly have some kind of hidden agenda. What that agenda is, we can only guess. Funcom employees, paid corporate shills or just plain old psycho. You pick one.
These "wars" we have here are laughable. If you enjoy the game, why not go play it and leave the "trolls" here to complain? If I had an MMO I was playing right now, I wouldn't be here posting. Why do the fans of the game feel like they need to defend their game on a forum 3-6 hours every day?

But the opposite can be said of trolls. Why troll a game if you don't play it.
The fact is that the only two real zealous supporters of AOC are both from Norway. There is something more than 'love of the game' at work there. Either it is 'employed by funcom', 'friends of developers (Avery), or just people with a lot of national pride, trying to support the home team.

On the opposite side there are "some" carrying a Crusade towards the game because they've been naive as a school girl ...Now they see/hear evil everywhere.
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...
I been waiting for the 360 version since like early 07. I gave up on that ages ago, sold my xbox. I honestly think darkfall is less vapourware than xbox 360 age of conan.

Do you feel invaded by the russians?
Whats a WMD and can I have one?
Age of Conan is more dead than Star Wars Galaxies.
Will you still be cheering for the game when they turn off the servers?
I think that you work for Funcom's PR department.
Thats the only explanation.

I must be since I have given Funcom money for the unfinished crap that is Age of Conan.
I even bought the collectors edition, thats how much an idiot I am.
I'm definitely getting this game for the Xbox360, by then it will be a good game.
Look at the stock market from mid August to now. All stocks have been tanking. Now look at FC stock in August and compare it to the 5 year average, its right on point.

Yea. Clearly Funcom is doing great and investors have huge confidence in the future of the company. It's just that damn Global Recession that made the stock hit rock bottom. Damn you, Global Recession!!!
If you are so sure, why not buy Funcom stock. Sounds like easy money to me. Go for it, man.
My point is that the stock market sucks for all companies right now and NO ONE IS INVESTING IN ANYTHING. A company that is small and had a rocky mid year is going to be hit worse than a juggernaut. Blizzard, before WOTHLK was released was down about 10-18% if I remember correctly. The only stock improving are companies like Walmart. If you compare FC August stock price to now you'll see that its down about 25%
BTW I am buying FC stock, even if it tanks I'll be out 300 bucks. If it is bought out I'll make money if it goes up I'll make money. Sounds easy to me.
