How are they going to tackle the need for such a large installation?  How about the graphic requirements?  Bandwith?  They haven't got a clue on how to deal with any of it.  Gaute, before he left, was pretty honest about all the hurdles they had to face with an XBOX port.  Of course he kept it out there, what company wouldn't?  Finally, the loudest evidence of this vapor ware bullcrap is the silence from Microsoft.  You would think they would want to promote something like this, wouldn't you?

Look at the stock market from mid August to now. All stocks have been tanking. Now look at FC stock in August and compare it to the 5 year average, its right on point.

Hillarious, can you really be serious? your saying if you ignore 40 of the 50nok stock drop funcom isn't doing worse than anyone else, hardly a surprise if you ignore 80% of the issue it doesn't look as serious.

Ok lets compare... FC mid august: NOK 22.50 - Now: NOK 2.97

Hmm yeah just about 25% - quite a performer

We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!

Like it or not this is the fruit that AOC/FC gets for the the things that happened at launch. Hopefully every CEO/major investor is paying very close attention to what happened here so that they dont repeat the issues that cause people to never want to trust a word that comes from anyone mouth that is connected with FC

Whether thats "fair" or not is up to the individual but reality is that gamers tend top give you one shot. If you are straight forward with them then you may get a second chance. If your PR/marketing department have zero people skills and your investors have no idea what it takes to make an MMO that the public will flock to and the time required then you are equally screwed.

Look thgrough the negative posts and you see over and over "lies" and "incomplete".  And while we can argue that no MMO is ever complete AOC set the bar for a great IP and not being anywhere close to launch. We are just now enetering the territory where they should have been at launch.

By drawing that conclusion I think I can draw the conclusion you are an idiot too then? :)

Oh and WMD stands for Weapons of Mass Destruction, and no I don't think you can get one :P

There is a difference between supporting a game and being a crazy fanatic who thinks Age of Conan is like a religion and who takes every single negative comment personally.

Regular gamers find faults in every game they play, even the ones they love. Some people here seem to post positive propaganda about Conan all day long and try to discredit posters who are critical about the game. These people clearly have some kind of hidden agenda. What that agenda is, we can only guess. Funcom employees, paid corporate shills or just plain old psycho. You pick one.

These "wars" we have here are laughable. If you enjoy the game, why not go play it and leave the "trolls" here to complain? If I had an MMO I was playing right now, I wouldn't be here posting. Why do the fans of the game feel like they need to defend their game on a forum 3-6 hours every day?

But the opposite can be said of trolls.  Why troll a game if you don't play it.

The fact is that the only two real zealous supporters of AOC are both from Norway.   There is something more than 'love of the game' at work there.  Either it is 'employed by funcom', 'friends of developers (Avery), or just people with a lot of national pride, trying to support the home team.

Some people "troll" game sthey dont play because they wanted them to succeed and they want people to be aware of who they are dealing with. Look at the WAR forums for many examples of people who have left yet still post there. Its not unique to AOC.

If I were to post my thoughts on WAR in the WAR forum I would instantly be called  a fanboy because aside from the occassional crash when flying to a capitol city ( dont know why its that flight only) I have zero problems with the game. People post these gigantic problems with their computers performance and yet I have so few issues that they dont even register on the scale.  I have a good server, a moderately sized guild, my classes seem to work pretty well and there is always something for me to do when I get on.

And yet there are many people over there that would scream I was stupid or a fanboy. Of course just as in here there is a big difference between someone who likes the game and someone who puts out pure propoganda. Just as there is a difference between someoen who has a hatred of the game and someone who has "issues" with the game or how its run. Both have their place.

A Troll post is not necessarily a negative post about a game.  For example, I have always considered all of Avery's posts as troll posts because they have no objectivity.  Hyperbole in a post, either negative or positive, makes it a troll post.

And why troll a game if you don't play it?  As a hobby, of course.

Is this an advanced way of saying that the close to 6 Mill $ operational profit FC made in Q3 somehow has been stolen? And yeah I look forward to when Microsoft will start to market for FC. lol

They pulled that money out of the second quarter and Im surprised thats not illegal.  BTW thats not what the report said.  You obviously cant read a quarterly report.

You my friend don't know how marketing works. If Microsoft would say: "Age of Conan is using DX10", their goal is not to market Age of Conan. They are marketing DX10 and Windows Vista.

Looks like Avery forgot about this thread otherwise I'm sure he'd have been in to appologise for misleading people.

  • komobokomobo Member Posts: 144

And I doubt you will ever see such an apology.

Avery's credibility and objectivity are non-existing as witnessed by his numerous posts, ressembling the work of a FC viral-marketing mouthpiece more than anything else. People whom frequent this forum knows this unless blinded by innate fanboyism. I'd have thought MMORPG had higher standards appointing their game correspondents.

It is indeed very unfortunate as he, by carrying the title of correspondent, inherently gain the status of a person with some kind of authority on the matters he speaks of. And as such we'd expect to get fair and unbiased news concerning AoC but In return we receive spins and biased posts from our dear AoC 'Correspondent'.

Wether Averys' work as a correspondent (or lack thereof) is tolerated by MMORPG due to the fact that AoC frequently advertise on this site is unknown. But it is indeed very problematic - how anyone can take him seriously is beyond me.

The only people that need to appologize here is yourself. You have numerous just straight out wrong posts on your posting record. It is not ok to lie to build your case. Face it the fact is AoC is coming nicely along, now deal with it.

Just because I have a different opinion to you makes everything wrong? This is a news story posted everywhere that posts AoC news stories, The MTV blog has been cited several times in news articles and the title and quote are with in the RoC here. I am allowed to express my own opinons on these boards with or without title.

And no you will never see an apology from me for something I haven't done wrong with. This is the news of that day - digest it.

You have done something wrong and the fact you won't admit it says alot about you.

You title is misleading and incorrect in two ways.

Firstly as has already been explained to you the word aim changes a statement massivly, funcom have aimed and failed to deliver on a huge ammount of things in the past, they aimed to have the pvp system in June for instance yet it took two months longer, they aimed to have direct x 10 at launch yet it will have been 7 months. They aimed to have npc seiging, they aimed to have bar brawls, So saying it won't affect Age of conan is misleading.

Secondly you left out the word development, your title says it won't affect age of conan but the actual comment says they aim for it not to affect development. weather releasing staff will affect developement is something we don't know yet but we do know it does affect age of conan as now customer service has got worse, we've started to see people complain about long wait times on the forum again something we'd not seen for a while. It's also pretty much guarenteed that less people doing Q and A and testing means more problems make it through. Thats just common sence.

You are allowed an opinion, you wern't giving your opinion though, you were telling us what funcom had said and you did so in an inncorrect and misleading way.

I've never lied on this forum not once and I've never tried to mislead, if you'd like to go through my posting record and post anything that you feel is incorrect I'll happily apologise if it is. I don't belive there is anything but you are welcome to do so, I'm open minded and happy to admit when I'm wrong.

Kinda puts it out blunty I think.

The reason why it shouldn't effect the 360 development is because it's cuts in the customer service and quality assurance departments, i've copy/pasted the section where they said it themselves.

The Norway-based developer of “Age of Conan” acknowledged the “staffing cuts,” which reportedly affected 70% of the U.S. branch in the Customer Service and Quality Assurance departments, as “part of our ongoing cost based efficiency and performance initiatives that are vital to any business.”

This in effect means that the customer services is gonna go from bad to abysmal.. in my view of things this means less support for the current players while they try to reach out to potentialy new players, yet again they're going from one extreme to the other instead of balancing things out like they should be doing. At this rate the next cuts will be the development sections and yes, the game will be cut or sold off in the end.

They should pull the plug on 360 development and allocate those resources elsewhere. Conan/Funcom have such an abysmal reputation that anyone familiar with the title is not going to plunk down $59.99 for the game and a monthly fee. The only developer that could successfully pull this off in the near future would be Bioware because of their success on multiple platforms with the SW franchise.

Hopefully for the sake of their subscribers, they realize its a futile effort and they announce to the community that those resources will be re-directed to the PC platform, and I'm sure most of the subscribers would rejoice.
