Yeah the end-game did leave me going "What now?" for a while. But I attribute that to EA's cutbacks and WW having to up and move everything to EA's shop. I quit playing a couple of times for other games but always found my way back to EnB. I wanna go fishing again image I know that wasn't part of the story line at all and it was just added to keep us busy but damn that was fun image

yeah i did have fun grinding my pw to 150..the grind wasn't all that bad....the only thing i didn't like was doing the vt to ag trade route..you had to have a je to do it efficiently..other than that it was slow...but i loved the game..was my first mmo...i would drop all my games for that...

I played enb for a year and it is still the best game i have ever played. As the game continues to prove the community will continue to live even if EA wants it to die. While waiting for EnB to be re-released or even come out with a sequel i decided to join Celtic Studios in creating Unknown Abyss

looking for more good ideas to implement if anyone wants to help

My question is even if there will be an Earth & Beyond Two, they alienated their entire fanbase from casual to hardcore when they shut the game down. I doubt many people from Earth & Beyond would go back to the game, and most of the new players are locked up in WoW and EVE Online. If it did release, it would be an incredible flop, probably wouldn't make it more than six months in the real world until it died.

honestly i beg to differ. There are still amazing as it is a lot of enb fans and people that would come back just to check out the game. If EA rolled all the servers into one, and maybe introduced ingame ads they probably could make a decent profit. The server technology in ENB was not very good and i think with one server it would do much better. All you would have to do is give a nice 14 day free trial and it would get a lot of people trying it i bet.

Bring it on please... It would really be nice to keep same lvl 150 toons image

Kizzz was cool and also the station in same sector should be done by now...hehehe

There is endless possibilities to make the game even more awesome. Maybe even an alien that will come and fight with you. I will never forget some of the big ones i soloed with my PW, but that would be brag'n and actually i got snuffed way too many times. Be nice t have gotten all the points to tun on all the offense and defense measures that were available. The fish bowl was the bomb! man did i get some cool loot. Turbo everything :)

It will be back, it has to come back....

I have it on good authority that Antares station still isn't finshed image Crazy Jenq's need to get the Terrans to finish it. They had all the resources. Bah I miss this game.

If EA were to rebuild and make an Earth and Beyond 2 you would have at least half the Enb userbase flocking back for pre-orders. which would be about 20000 people, not a small amount. From then on it would be EA's responsibilty to market the game and build up hype, rather than let it die like they did in e&b.

However if EA didnt call back the orginal team to make the game, I dont think they could draw in the rest of the ex-enb players

    MMORPG's ive played
Earth and Beyond: shut down *tear*
    Jaiden TE lvl 150 +++

I never played Earth and Beyond, but it has become a retarded source of interest for me, If EA were to make EnB2, I would preorder/buy it painfully quickly.

It shouldn't be too difficult for EA to release a sequel based on the original EnB since they already have the tools and the know-how never left the company (not all of the EnB team anyway), just got shifted to some other game.

Polish the old one, add the missing classes and increase the size of the universe for starters. I'm sure it would pick up a lot of people who like so many others has not found a worthy replacement for such a great game.

E&B was strangled in the cradle by EA: they just got out of beta when EA decided to offer the devs a choice: move from Las Vegas to the Silicon Valley area. . .and for 8 weeks, soon after release. . .NOTHING happened.[p]

Classes that were promised, like the Terran Scout, and the Jenquai and what-ever-the-heck they called those genetically-engineered Martian settlers (I primarily played a TT) were never rolled out. High-end content took 9+ months to appear, yet people were level 100+ (max was 150) inside of a month.[p]

In fact, the only initial high-end content I can recall was the Oni Communication Device Quest, which required a massive raid to have a CHANCE of pulling it off. . [p]

It had promise. . .but EA did its' usual number on ANY game that can't sell a million copies in the first month.[p]

I think the ONLY real Development EA does is in working to someday clone John Madden. . .so the "madden" series sports games will survive LONG after his death. . . . ::::31::

Well this seems to me that it is a pretty hot topic. I myself hope EA reopens or makes an enb 2. Hell I would be happy to see them at least sell the game if they are not going to do anything with it.

I know this is dumb to ask, but if an admin of mmorpg sees this would it be possable for them to contact EA and see if the will release any info on EnB and there plains with it. Last I had heard was that they would not sell it and there were no plains for it at that time, but that was over a year ago.

EA cracks me up. This game made a profit (even though they put little to no effort into continuing the game after the WW buyout). ENB simply did not make enough of a profit for EA. They never asked if we would pay more or consider consolidating the servers to provide them with a better bottom-line.

The ironic part is that EA was getting my money. I'm not going to play Madden football or the Sims. If I wanted to play those I'd be playing them. image

So now EA is getting none of my money.

Anyway, just had a rough day a work and I'd love to be mining right now. Yeah sign me up for a re-release.

IF earth and beyone were to resurface I would hope that more people would flock to this game than any other game out there. I know of atleast 8 people of who I live near tha would quit their mmo to join this one. I wish that Ea would just Cancel the Sims Online and Make ENB2 I dont see whats so fun about that stupid ass game anyway..... image

As another former EnB player I'd like to add my support for the return of EnB, either in a modernized version or even in the original to get the community solidly behind the game again. Once thats established you could develop an updated version, EnB2 with funding to help support the effort. The old EnB community would come back I can pretty much guarentee it, as there isn't a game out there that provided the type of game play we had with EnB.

Eve, while being a very pretty game graphically is about as far removed as you can get from what EnB was. Eve enables the worst of humanities motivations a place to breed and spills over into an out of control economy that is hugely influenced by real life monetary issues, that being people making a profit out of their game play. Any game that doesn't address that one fundamental issue is going to have a hard time keeping people playing for the long term.

I hope Celtic Studios releases Unknown Abyss and thumbs its nose at EA and gives them a loud and clear. "I told you so". If its anywhere near to what EnB was, then it will be a success. That being said, Celtic had better not waste its time doing so because the market is ripe for a game of this type, and I wouldn't put it past someone else to working on a project like this as well.

Does anyone have any evidence that ENB2 might happen? C'mon, there's got to be an EA insider that can either give us a glimpse of hope or squash our optimisitc view on ENB's rebirth....

I want to see Earth And Beyond 2 as well. I would play it, especially if they improved upon it. I just wish there was a EnB like mmo on the market to play. (Eve isn't like EnB) SWG got close with their JTL expansion, but they never did a whole lot with space which was a pity.

From a business perspective, the most popular space MMO is Eve (not counting SWG). They don't have a large subscriber base when compared to the bigger MMO's like EQ2, Lineage 2, WoW and so on. So, if I were trying to make money, I wouldn't go with the spaceship MMO. You could argue that if done well it would be very popular (business wise). However, history would disagree with you (at least to an extent).

I just have to wait for the Starcraft MMO or Star Trek Online.

"Earth and Beyond".... "Beyond" what?? With the amount of content most companies put into a game taking place solely on 1 planet their "Galaxy" was sorely lacking.

One of the things I did not like about this game is that you couldn't go down on a planet and land your ship and walk around, battle enemies on the ground with your character/develop character etc.

Another thing I was hoping for in this game was to see a type of ship development similar to the "MOO" series but implemented on a MMO scale.

If they are to make an E&B 2 I sincerely hope they put in some of the things mentioned above.

However, knowing EA - I seriously doubt that they will have the insight or creativity required for such an endeavor. It seems to me all they care about is making a few bucks off the initial hype of their games.
